Fantastic meditation for many circumstances of grief - not only the death or loss of someone we love but the loss of parts of ourselves, our identities.

Thank you roshi and everybody who helped to share this video. I have lost both my parents this summer and I've been stuck with grief and guilt. You did help me release at least a part of the pain. I will listen to it agan and try to build up in my practice. Thank you again

Sorry for your loss, both parents...must be very painful - I heard the analogy of a veld where there was a fire in a section, it is now like a pit of hard earth, with sandy areas, barren looking - and how loss is like that, the veld around that now sandy area will grow and evolve, some seeds may rest in that space as well eventually... I appreciated this analogy

Thank you. so helpful in dealing with my grief that comes and goes so quickly, just as the the sun that comes and goes on a cloudy day.

I miss my mother terribly! It's been three years but I just can't get over what happened and still find it difficult to forgive myself. I was crying from the first minute of this meditation. But I said thank you to my mother at the end of it.. I asked her earlier today for help becuase i just couldn't cope anymore.. Thank you for putting effort into making this video.

Joan Halifax, you are amongst my favourite American Buddhist teachers. Thank you for being a stellar human being.

😳 may I accept my sadness and the fact that On Being feels that ads are appropriate during a meditative practice

Thank you so much for this, so many grief meditations tell us we are in a serene place and things that are simply not true, this really spoke to the truth and helped me simply be.

Ads are a great distraction, too many and in the wrong places. But the reference to the podcast is a great help and I look forward to listening to it. Thank you.

Good meditation until about 2 minutes before the end when an advertisement interrupted :(

This may have been great but the background "clanging and chatter" was so distracting I couldn't complete this experience.

I keep hearing people in background

Shame that someone keeps coughing in the background! Doesn’t help with focus.
