Think of the internet as water. Think of the fire hydrant in your block as the main provider of water. Everybidy on the block take their garden hose and attach them to the fire hydrant. Now sometimes people turn water on all at the same time, like 5pm weekdays and holiday weekends, or big sports weekends. The pressure from the hydrant hasn't changed but the demand on water has, and with pandemic that increase is way more because people are home. Mix this with no additional fire hydrants in your area being installed, and just overall decay of the hydrant from overuse and you get problems. Your internet speed will vary as people draw water and if you have only one internet provider in your area, you're going to have issues. They will blame wires or modems or this and that but fact is they know the problem and it's called oversubscription and lack of upgrades. I worked this stuff for a long time.

Adding on... mondays probably consistently bad cuz other tenants in the building off for 2-3 days are now in and making up for the weekend etc.
