Here is a long video for you guys, i called a bunch of silly places.. I only call phone numbers i saw on signs. this is pretty much just a prank call compilation.

I'm from Wales and for some reason, nobody can pronounce it until they actually go to the town, I couldn't pronounce it until I went there and left being able to pronounce it perfectly lol
I literally watched videos of people saying the name of the town and rehearsed it until I could say it more or less perfectly, just for the bragging rights lol

as an austrian, i completely lost it during that fugging part (fun fact: the village was called "fucking" a while back, but was then renamed to "fugging" because some people posted about it on social media and it became really famous for the name. the residents even wanted the old name back apparently)

Most Welsh place names are shorter, this one was created as a tourism stunt.
However, the trick to Welsh place names is not to treat them like one word but a sentence (German is similar). In Welsh all sounds are phonetic and similar "words" appear in multiple placenamed. Llan (which means Church) appears a lot. The LL sound is kinda like a Ch sound. So "Clan"

If you're in the area in all seriousness avoid Bangor it's a shit hole and Holyhead. But Menai Bridge, and the entire Llyn Peninsula and most of Anglesey is super nice and pretty. Really nice if you like a vacation out in some pretty countryside. Be respectful to the locals though, don't mock their language or culture and don't call them English. They're Welsh.
