In Q1, sir interchanged the no of years mistakenly for A1 and A3. In A1 you can see sir took 2 years whereas in the question it is 4 years. The question was that sum of interest and principal in all 3 cases turned out to be equal.

    Let's make the doubt clear, the year ratio for 1st question is P1:P2:P3 = 2:3:4, Amount A1=12650 for 5% for 4 yrs, A2=13200 for 5% for 3 yrs, A3=13800 for 5% for 2 yrs = 15180.

The ratio in 1st question should be 3:4:6, and when we calculate through this, then we will get P1, P2, and P3 amounts as 9150, 12200, and 18300 respectively.

    • @shubhamsharma-nb8yd

Looks like you did the common mistake ....
The question does not mention that all the 3 parts get same simple interests ( which you have used to solve )
In the question , it was actually mentioned that the amounts received in all the 3 parts is same
which doesn't mean that the interest on those parts are same...
What is actually meant is after adding the interest on the respective parts, the amount you get is same.
So the method Sir used is correct ... just in opposite order ( as he mistakenly used the opposite years )
Answer is same as sir just opposite ..
You can check by adding the interest with your A1,A2 and A3 with respective years..
      Hope this helps..

  • @AnshulGavle

In the first question first we can assume the values of 3 parts as 300,400 and 600 and by doing so we can get the interest for all the 3 parts same for different years. Now as we assume the amount as 300,400and 600 we can divide the 39650 in ratio of 3:4:6 and thus we will get the 9150,12200 and 18300 and by getting their 5% si for the given years we will still get 1830 as interest amount for all the three same . Whole scenario matches with the question then why this is not correct ?

If we now find rate of interest =(72.8-44)÷44%
