- Another day on the fields of Perthshire with the XP DEUS 2 and Simon!
A day of two halves with glorious sunshine followed by pouring rain and mud but with the rain came a run of coin after coin on the medieval church site.

There's nothing like seeing Simon's mischievous grin come popping out from behind your shoulder!! Love you guys!👍🥰🇨🇦🤸♂️
These 2are absolutely brilliant, Simon has such a beautiful smile love to you both from Wales.🏴🏴🏴🏴
Try not to complain so much, you must have found it easier to dig than when you complained about that the ground was so hard and dry as it hasn’t rained for a long time! I must say that your the only detectorist that I watch because your full of information and I love your accent !
Good to see you guys again together 😊. I’ve watched the Spanish detectorist
Hi John and Simon, great finds, rotten weather oh well you can't have everything but I often think, why not? Maybe one day eh! Cheers!!🥰😘😘👍👍👍🙏
Pity no gold/silver but still some coins so can’t complain John.thank you for detecting in the rain 👍
Blessings, my Scottish Detectorist friend…and sidekick the Spanish Detectorist, from this old man in Tennessee. Glad to see you out, even playing in the rain. A great coin day…King George the 5th would be proud.
Nicely done guys I enjoyed the video. 🇺🇸
Thanks Fred! Best wishes
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. I'll let you pick which is which. 😂Good coin day. Saw Simon's good video from the abbey. Well done guys
Great video thanks for sharing 👍
If I was there I would stand outside in the rain with my arms raised to the sky because it hasn't rained appreciably here in New Mexico, USA for five or six years. Never even wets the ground which is now hard baked and quite unforgiving. Good thing you aren't detecting here. You would have to pour a couple buckets water and let it soak in every time you got a target or no hole. As usual, thanks for taking us along. It is always enjoyable. ❤️
I think the pipe bowl will turn white with time. They come out grey to black and then turn white as they dry.
I am from America and hearing the accents in this video is great.
We don’t find anything older than 15th century here unless it’s an arrowhead or stone tools which don’t show up on the Deus 2. I had that same detector, I was paralyzed by an infection in my spine. Turns out I’m such a screwup that my paralysis is reversing. I’m learning to walk again at 54 years old. Cheers to yourself and Mr. Simon. Keep digging!
Simon has the right idea about your shield.
Love the badge. Shout out from Northern England. 😊
Thanks 👍
Well done John, certainly alot of George V coins. Coincidentally my first hole last week was a ring-pull like the one you dug.
Simon's find was the end of a penknife I reckon.
Well done John! Many coins 🎉🎉🎉 I’m waiting for Jethro program so i can try it🤞🤞🤞
I think Simon's mysterious bronze piece from about 14 min in is the side plate off a fliintlock pistol or rifle? Maybe one that had some rapid unplanned disassembly.
Great dig even though it was miserable and muddy I am appreciative of the video. Thanks John!
George seems to always be with you.😊
A wet day, but nice finds! On to the next.❤
A good haul of coins there John, a pity there's no gold or silver amongst it but we still have to be grateful that everything we dig in these fields is free never the less a great dig
True treasure hunters plugging through the rains. Good thing the Deus 2 is waterproof up to 60ft. needed that today. 🤣 Great job and finds. Thanks for sharing as always.
Nice finds John thank you for sharing.
Enjoyed the adventure 😁 thanks for sharing! USA
Fun hunt as always. We dig when we can, rain or shine. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for enduring the mud while recording!
a nice haul of coins John the wet conditions is good for conductivity when detecting hope Simon invites you to his new permission well done both of you thanks again cheers
Greetings from Pennsylvania USA . Great day for coins for you and Simon. Rain ☔️ bought you some luck. Take care.
well done on all the coins..thanks for battling the lousey weather and sharing! 😊
Every time I watch one of your video's I keep my fingers crossed you find a major big hoard.... thanks again for great video.
I always enjoy your videos John and admire your perseverance in all weather. Some very nice coins ⭐️
Hello John and Simon! The heraldic shield looks awesome. Hope it turns out to be The Bruce’s.
I’ve found that you get more detecting depth when the ground is wet. Searched areas dry as a bone went back to the same site after a good rain and it produced many more finds that I previously missed. Glad to see Simon invited you out to the Abbey permission.
Happy Hunting!
Nice finds in a muddy perthshire 👍❤️
We have had about month without rain and quite hot so im wishing it would rain😁👋🇫🇮
The dynamic duo..........great video as always mate.
You are a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Well done John & Simon. Amazing amount of coins! Can't get enough of good old Geo' V!! Cheers, John.
I love it when the copper coins go green. I did find a sixpence turned red, so must be the soil type to affect it.
I do feel your pain with the rain. Here in Massachusetts USA it's been raining for days
👍👍👍
Fun video, love the little farthing, beautiful
Great day of detecting, minus the rain, of course. I admire you for continuing, though.
Well the weather in New England has been raining a lot not many good days here . I hope the finds keep coming for You.
Hi John and Simon 😊Blessing both of you.Wishing you both find Gold. Good start.
Whoever said mud was glorious? However that muddy blankie brings up that handful of George coins beautifully 🙂. Thanks for the video and putting up with the weather. Let us know how the opinion of the museum on that little shield. Great to see Simon out with you as ever 🤗
Thumbs up for Parthhhhhhhh shaaaahhhhh
If you ever get tired of gorgeous George I will take a couple. 😊
Thanks for the video.
Awesome coins finds today congratulations
Well done John! Way to persevere.
At some point you have to throw in the (very muddy) towel and get yourself out of the elements. Lovely coinage, John! You and Simon did well.
the 1936 penny is really nice
Though there was nothing spectacular this dig, it was still interesting. George V seems to be everywhere. Hoping to see you and Simon out again soon, hopefully drier. Cheers from Texas.
the thing at 13:33 is the broken off end of the "center scale" of a pocket knife. The little depressions are where the springs, and the blades mount.
Perhaps the Museum will allow you to get readings from a number of their identified coins that you can copy down to use as a reference to help narrow down exactly what coins you are finding. If a William & Mary gives a reading of 88 and a George II gives a reading of 99 then you know by your readings that the coin (17:30) is much more likely a George II.
Love the banter between you two!❤
That coin you were looking at around 17:40 or so might be worth looking at a little bit more. I'm a collector of ancient coins. Would you say that the number it rang up as was more like silver than bronze? It could be a medieval coin made of Billon. It's an alloy of bronze with silver. In my experience, it always looks like bronze. Don't always assume ancient means odd-shaped , I have some Roman coins that are perfectly round. Just some helpful info😊.
Nice dark soil
Gads that was torture. It is almost 100f in my area of Texas. And there you are with cool temps and drizzle. The possible shield is amazing though.
That lump of bronze looks a little like an arrowhead.
Brilliant 💯
Magnificent Duo! Good luck!
Nice finds!
The low dark clouds do look ominous
The smallest indigenous burdie, and weight for weight, the most raucous! The wren. A wee gem.
Well done! pity about the weather 🌧
hi john and simone
When your vids go over 20 mins. I put to watch later, but rarely do.
using that aggressive cloth to rub down penny is a grand idea
just an interesting note. I found I have direct lineage to king Richard II and other Scottish descendants from Perthshire area. small world, cousin!
Simno's mystery thing with the holes maybe a part of a pocket knife?
Simon's mystery find looks like the brass end off a knife
Remember that when you turn those old coins over, Britannia is the other way up compared with the Monarch's head. The pen top that you found at the beginning is a Parker.
Pull tabs were brought to market over 50 years ago. Does that make them antiques?😜😎
Are you sure it was a good idea to lend Simon a microphone? You know how he is with microphones.
The effectiveness of metal detectors is WAY better in wet soil.
It occurred to me that Henry VIII, like Gorgeous George, married his dead brother’s fiancé/widow.
The piece of lead had numbers on it number 1s I think
I'm sure loads of people ask if they can metal detect with you
Whoop
What would I have to do if I would like to join you one of these days
The things we do…right!!! 🤦♀️😁✌️🤍
That pendant looks more like a binge maybe to box
Clog clasp. Or book maybe?
One more month until the Summer Solstice and the days start to shorten again.
WHERE has the 1st half of 2024 gone? 🤷♀ (awesome Time Team, huh?)
not bad for me 6 mins late
Looks like a 17HMR bullet casing.
Old Levi’s buttons are worth $
🌟🌟I must say I really enjoy all of your metal detecting videos! 😢I was very saddened when I found out that the shovel that you are using isn’t available for shipping to the USA. There isn’t even a distributor that sells them in the US…. I wonder why ? :-( Bummer!
You might try checking your local garden center. I found an almost identical looking shovel at a garden center near me - not inexpensive - almost $100 - but seemed to be very good quality.
@@sabrinaqualley5743 Thanks a million for this information that you so kindly shared! I will definitely check the garden center’s close by and look at their shovels! Blessings be with you to enjoy a wonderful day!
42k!
How close can you get to "restricted" and protected areas?
Think your right looks like a horse pendant to me
Sir Walter Raleigh is pronounced "Ra-Lee" John.
Why are there so many 1 and 1/2 Pennys. They are to big to be lost out of the pockets. I know in Norway the old farmers used to leave coins for good luck in the field. Could it be the same? We find these 1 skilling from 1771. They are Lucky Skillings and 99% of the ones found have the same 1771 date on them.
9:25 clog clasp mate??
your turning into a lightbox-tease.
Pen knife for simon
Do you ever wash that towel?
Not first today had some difficulties with TH-cam, made a new account to remove the person who hacked me. 😅🙁
Yikes bummer 😡
☔️☔️🧑🏻🦯➡️👍🏼👍🏼🇨🇿🇨🇿🇨🇿
Dude, time to wash the towel. Don't throw it in the hamper the wife won't like that. Hit it with the outside hose and some dish washing soap
John can you give me your e mail ? I just got back to the US from Scotland. For a family reunion in Loch Awe. I have a hammered coin that I need help identifying
