Dude! Get your sister a nice little 1/4" drive Milwaukee impact to carry around in the swather for changing knives and guards. It makes life so much easier.
You start your construction project just as Eric (10th Gen) is finished and starting to occupy his new heifer barn. Glad to see you both prospering and able to build. Sorry your crops aren’t up to par. I’ll pray for rain for you and Cole Sonne. All the best !
Hey Jan, I live a few hours south and this summer has been brutal for the nearby farmers as well. It is sad to see since food prices will likely get worse by the end of the year. We got some rain yesterday but it has been dry for a while. Keep up the hard work!
As always a very entertaining video. Great to see the beginnings of the barn expansion. And as far as the thinking ahead and having the pad extend out further for a possible expansion, I'm going to give all the credit to your dad, he deserves a lot of credit if nothing else for having a bunch of great kids. Course when it comes to the great kids I'm sure it's your mom that deserves even more of the credit. Looking forward to the next video and maybe a return to some drone footage.
Down here in Southeastern Wisconsin we were lucky enough to receive the gift of Canada's fires. Hazy out all day. Amazing how far smoke travels. You guys are such hard workers I hope everything turns out okay.
In southern Ontario, we’ve been so blessed with rain. Started off as a dry spring and summer. But we’ve been having steady rain right from the last week of June till now. Close to an inch to 2 inches of rain a week.
I always like. You have a great way of telling what is going on and why. You farm is nice. That expansion is going to be a big addition toy our facility. Jan, couldn't you use irrigation to help those fields produce more. The growth is so scraggly it is a shame that you lost so much production. Let's hope for better. Maybe rains will come and second cutting will be better.

We are getting all the rain this year in Eastern Canada. The last three years have been very dry here, so it's nice to see. Pretty hard for anything to grow without moisture.
Sorry for you your troubles with the drought! Hoping that this is a once in so many years occurance happening . We all wish for rain to come this year and for future years! 🇨🇦
Glad to see you here. I was beginning to worry. Sad to see that the weather has made your feed crop not so good this year. Your sister is quite the worker. Excited to see the new barn extension getting started. As a contractor I love the smell of framing lumber. Thanks for a super video. Looking forward to the next one.
Jan that will make an awesome Barn. Can’t wait to see it come along. Can’t believe the drought. I watch Sonne Farms also and South Dakota is real dry also. Then you hear about flooding in other areas. The Weather is crazy!! 👍👍👍👍
Nice machines and milking parlor man never see that in the states during silage harvest having a pull behind silage chopper and having a tractor or truck and tractor running beside the silage chopper
Just a terrible year for crops on the prairies, I am a spray plane pilot based a few hours south of you near Abbey and all I’ve done is a few loads for grasshoppers
I hope you get some good rain soon, all the work you put into the crops and not much to show for it. It happens but it’s not fun. That new project looks amazing! Will you get the old concrete chopped up to reuse ? Also, will you put in a taller door for the machines since it seems that all of the machines nowadays get taller and wider every year? Good luck with everything. 👍👍👍❤️🚜🐄🐄
The weather this year has been awful. It broke all the wrong records. At least tractors have air conditioning now. My dad has some stories about cutting hay on the old fashioned open tractors that all end in heat stroke.
I don't get these 80s viper sunglasses. Now Cole the corn star the more of his face u cover the better but, Jan is handsome fella no need cover that up. Mayb I'm too old. I pray all farmers get some rain this summer!! We need yall hang in there
Hey I was thinking the same thing as Bob where have you been? Also has your dad thought about putting in a irrigation system? I remember when I lived on my uncle's Farm in South Dakota he had one and it did come in handy when there was no rain.
Great video thx a lot 👌🏻 lets hope u get enough feed in total 🙏💪🏻 I was stunned by this massive freight train which was passing by very close to the field 😍😍 looked awesome ... double container ... and quite long ... is there a lot of train traffic?
All or your rain made it's way down here to New England this past month...... :-\ It was nice to see 10 Gen move his heifers into their new barn....it'll be nice to see when you all do the same. Happy Farming !
They probably will buy siliage. Due to the drought our Saskatchewan government has expanded the crop insurance program. To ensure damaged crops intended for harvest can be put to alternative uses such as siliage and bailing.
I feel for you guys 2018 was terrible dry here in Michigan mid August we had knee high corn that was tasseled and that stuff does not yeild very good when you go chopping

Hey Mann… sad to see thos crops not doing so well… here in southern Ontario we have had like 9inches of rain in the past month and our barley is abt waist high
I know you cant go back in the past but couldnt you let the barley still grow on your normal time table and just add in water and perservative/silage bacteria when you are putting it in the silo/bag/clamp, kinda similar to how Boehm farm did it last year?
They just need to finish the footings in the ground before freeze. The aboveground part can be built even during winter -- but can be a bit harder on the workers during a Sask winter storm!
Really enjoy your channel. I watch every one. Was wondering what happened to Dairy on the prairie haven’t heard from your sister in a while she looked okay in this video
I vote on a Battery Impact driver for Nalene! Good luck with (a better) harvest and your family build of the new extension, Jan.
Will keep you and all the farmers in my prayers. Glad to see you again. Its been a few days.
Where have you been? Need to have my Saskdutchkid fix. Nice to have you back!!!
He probably was chopping barley lol
Probably sick. There has been a stomach thing going around. His voice sounds raspy like mine.
Probably chasing women.
This has been a hard summer for the farmers so far, thanks for everything you do! 🇨🇦

You need to close up the opening on your swather to get a tighter swath. Or increase the canvas speed so it throws it more together.

being the farm is getting bigger more cattle probablaey have you considered robot milkers to help with the increased work load
are you going to keep the rollup doors you have on on the barn or the two packs or are they going to be removed and replaced with gats
