    You two give a whole new meaning to the word "intrepid." Way to persist😱

    Love seeing people experience Alaska. July would have been ideal

      You've got a beautiful state! Yeah, I bet the bears are wild up here in July, but I'm also glad we experienced smaller crowds.

    Great video! How were the mosquitoes?

    • @JustinandJess
      @JustinandJess  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They were not bad at all! We were really surprised because we had heard they were really bad out there, but it seriously wasn't an issue (and I'm someone who gets torn up by mosquitoes).
      Thanks for watching! ✌️

    I understand them canceling the boats due to weather but the prices 😮. Honestly they are ripping people off. Even worse when you are at their mercy.
    So a bear does 💩 in the woods 😂
    Sitting around with no cell phones 😂 like way back in the 1900’s. Or as I say, the 80’s 😊

      Totally! Kind of crazy to think that 45 minute boat ride cost the same as our Alaska Airlines flight from Anchorage to King Salmon. Even worse, the ferry employee told us the boat had wifi AFTER they dropped us off (🤬), so we could have been researching alternative transportation/accomodations the whole way to Katmai. I have no idea why they waited to tell us until after they dropped us off and were about to leave... the ranger station had already received communication from the ferry operator that all of the boats were canceled for the next 2 days and had already printed and posted that sign earlier that morning. It all felt very deceptive.
      I understand bad weather happens and they need to keep their passengers safe, but at least be clear and honest with your communication (Especially if your customers are paying you $400 for a 90 minute round trip boat ride). And that's all just the tip of the iceberg... there is so much more drama related to this and several of the staff were pretty rude. Honestly, we could have made a whole video just about the ferry ride, but we felt like we were already complaining too much in this video.
      On a more positive note, we had so much fun at Katmai and I think a huge part of that was because of no Internet (a double-edged sword in our case, I suppose). I'm really really REALLY glad that Katmai Air was able to sell us a float plane ticket back on Sunday so we could stay for the duration of our reservation. If we had left the day after we arrived, we would have been regarding it as such a terrible trip. Instead, it was one of our best adventures ever (Even despite all the drama).

      We’re going to Alaska in a few years when I retire but I think I’ll have to think about that trip out there. While it’s awesome to see the bear like that, it’s a lot of money. We would just do a day trip I think. Glad it worked out in the end.

      Don't make me fact check you 🤣. I suppose the bears up here in Alaska are built different.

      @@JustinandJess please do. Nowhere in any literature will you find coastal brown bears be referred to as “grizzlies”. I will be anxiously awaiting your fact check

      @@JustinandJess brown bears are coastal bears, grizzlies are interior bears
