Great to see this. Diamond P sports. Steve Evan’s. Dave. I was in my teens back then. And when we were able to see these broadcasts I was in heaven. My brothers worked for Thrush back then. Gary Beck and crew came to the Thrush plant in Toronto. My brother came and dragged me out of school and took me down to see and meet. Best day skipping school.
My father took me there to watch the Summernationals.. I met a driver and saw his funnycar the night before at the Menlo Park Mall the night before the race.. I don't remember the driver's name but his Funny Car was called "Trojan Horse".. It was my first of VERY many races at Englishtown over the years.. inspired many of my cars.. it's a shame it's gone..
