I grew Patty Pan for the first time. Despite the drought and extreme heat over the summer, my harvest was incredible. Patty Pans will definitely be a regular in my future gardens.
How exciting... We are growing Patty Pan Squash for the first time this year and I just transplanted them to my raised garden bed. So it's wonderful to find someone else growing them.
I have had some seeds I bought from you of these! I didn’t grow them this year, because I hadn’t looked in to how to grow them, or what type of plant they were(vining or not). I will be adding them in the new gardens!
I can't wait to grow squash. it's nice to have an example of how to do it from scratch - we recently moved to an area where the most anyone grows are flowers and hedges - even though our soil is rockin and everyone has the space! I can't wait to get fully set up in the spring and plant up a whole pantry full of squash and alliums! Videos that teach me how to do it from seed are so appreciated :)
We grew these last year, and they were prolific! Also, they rejuvinated themselves after I gave up on them after Squash Vine Borers seemed to destroy them, and we got a second harvest in the fall.
I have never tried growing Patty Pan Squash…but always wanted to. I hate the fight with squashbugs and vine borers…they always win. I am excited to get so many seeds from you guys❤
I haven’t tried squash- this is going into my second season of gardening. Using containers right now as we are renting. Very inspiring seeing big in ground gardens! 😊
My Family and friends had never heard of Patty Pan Squash, they are now addicted. They are so bountiful and so very delicious. Looking forward to the Spring of 2024 to start my Seeds. Thank you for sharing.
Our squash this year didn't start producing until almost frost time this year - even with buying bigger plants and planting in mid May (just after frost) We had a hot summer in Utah
I planted this in my garden this year because of your video! Hoping it turns out well 🤞🏻 they seem to be getting off to a slow start so hoping the heat will help them out soon. In 8b
Thanks for this video. I had my first garden this past summer and grew zucchini squash. The plan is to also grow patty pan in 2023. The zucchini grew really well tied up to fence posts as they grew. They looked like little palm trees by the end of the season and there was room to grow lettuce under them by cutting off the old leaves. Would patty pan grow the same way?
I want to try this next year! I have been a little hesitant to try new squashes, but this one looks interesting. Do you know which color of pattypan squash is the most nutritious?
Our blossoms are falling off, it’s very hot in Oregon over 100 we use drip irrigation. Should we water more often than every other day. Liz and Jeff bend Oregon 3800’ elevation.
Unfortunately we live in the mountains with alot of trees and deer. We are slowly clearing areas but will have to do fencing before we can plant. I am seriously thinking about starting them on our porch this year. We will see
I'm moving to the Salt Lake City area around May - June 2023. Does pattypan squash do OK when planted in July & harvested in the Fall? I think it is zone 7 with first frost usually in Oct.
I have attempted to store them and they rot. If you're looking for a summer squash that can also be grown longer to store as a winter squash, try Tatume or Tromboncino
Just found your channel and I just sowed some white scallop squash and I'm also going to do some yellow scallop squash. I live in Central Texas my question is what do you do for pest.? I want to go organic and I just want to be careful with what I use and your plants look absolutely gorgeous any tips there would be greatly appreciated
@@marysheirloomseeds okay how awesome is that I just got an order from Bakers Creek yesterday and I had bought a few different varieties of nasturtiums so they will go well with a variety of Miracles I have available to me. Thank you so much I truly appreciate you! Have a beautiful day
Prolific growers in Wisconsin my first time growing them. They are so cute. My only problem is I have too many and I hate to let them go bad. They don’t last long once you pick them. Does anyone have any ideas? I’ve made quiche and casseroles and canned some
I'm hoping to get a late season crop going. It is Aug 6 in zone 7 now. Is the heat going to effect this 50 day number? I'm thinking about starting the seeds indoors because the short day yellow squash that I planted is just sitting there in the yard. Not growing very much. I may have done something wrong

My spaghetti squash was grown vertical and it thrived despite everything else dying in the Texas sun last year.
Definitely growing that this year!! Happy Gardening Mary!
I love these squash. They have a nice flavor for a small, compact vegetable.
I may have to try this! I don't have much luck with squash in Texas, but 42 days might get me a harvest! Thanks, Mary!
Wow I can't believe how fast these produce! Looking forward to getting these started in a few weeks!
I have never tried Patty Pan, I just ordered this variety with my last order. Looking forward to trying them out this year!
Ordered these seeds for this years growing season! Can’t wait
Just moved from zone 6a to 7b, can’t wait to start my garden

I grew them this summer. Easy to grow and tasted delicious!
I am going to try to grow Patty pan this year. Need to buy some seeds from you.
My grandmother grew pattypan squash. It was her favorite.
I want to try growing the patty pan squash. It gets extremely hot here in Amarillo----being perched on the edge of desert. Low-low humidity here too.
I will add these to my growing list.
We have 2 more months until I can plant my spring garden! We love squash!
Ok I think mine is ready to pick. My bush only grew two and one disintegrated lol

Wow, fast producer! I may need to try them.
Squash is so delicious! It is by far my favorite vegetable!
This is a squash that even I can grow, and I'm the type to toss seeds and forget them. :) I always forget to actually use them though.
Looking to learn more!
I can’t wait to grow squash this year!
Fantastic information, as always!
Thank you for the planting guide!
Can't wait to try!

I do vertical gardening. Would this be a candidate for the three sisters plan?
It's a bush variety but it can be used in the 3 sisters garden
Definitely will try these!
Tha nk you for all your videos. They are all informative

It will do amazing in OK. We're in East Texas. Zone 8
So helpful !! Thanks for the information!
Excellent sharing
I would like to try this squash. When they get older, can they be stored like a "winter squash"?

they are pretty easy to grow. We use companion planting as our first line of defense against pests

Grew this last year, so good! And productive.. vineborers love them too though..
these were my favorite when i was a kid - my parents are gone but they used to grow these in their garden
thank you for watching
Wow! What does it taste like or what is it similar to? I think I might order some seeds.
Similar to zucchini
Great for short seasons!
Need to try these
Do you sell the Patty pan seeds? I would like to try them next spring!
Yes. Link to purchase seeds is in the description section of this video
Maybe you could share how you use these squash.
I have a few recipes on my website. I've also sent them out in emails. The Stuffed Scallop squash is my favorite
@@marysheirloomseeds Thanks--I will check them out.
What squash variety would you recommend for someone just starting out?
All of the scallop squash (patty pan) varieties are easy as well as zucchini and Crookneck. Summer squash usually matures earlier than winter squash

Love their seeds!
