You guys nail it. I’ve been having this sound inside of my head for so many years and finally all at once I hear other people with the same sounds as I’m currently creating and recording. That drummer is tight. You guys all sound great and tight together. Anyone that plays this stuff knows timing isn’t the same on ambient/shoegaze stuff. I’m certain Spotify will tell me this was one of my top listens going into 2021. I really hope this is only the beginning of this stuff. Love it.

I watched you guys in Sacramento with my good friend Curtis.. he passed away a few months later unexpectedly. But I will always remember this show. Such an awesome underrated band.
I love Deserta and the new stuff sounds incredible too. Great step forward. This guy is definitely way ahead of his time. Looking forward to hearing more and more from this very talented man in the future. His music is timeless.
Their stuff is lovely, although you can't hear the vocals in this clip at all. This sound is not new, though; pour through Cocteau Twins for instrumentation & mixed-down echoing vocals and Flock of Seagulls for the spacepop sound that has been rebranded as dreampop. Still like Deserta very much, just not ahead of their time as much as revisiting what came before when looking at pop history.

Midnight Faces is Matthew Doty's (the singer and creator of Deserta) previous project w/ the singer from that band and yes, this is the same drummer.

Great performance, but it seems like the guitar and bass are mixed way too far up. I can barely hear the vocals.
It's probably a stylistic choice on the part of the band. Personally, I agree with you.
