Some grails indeed. Nice to see the sleeves on those Beatles and Rolling Stones. I have a couple tollie Beatles labels 45s. Makes me happy to be that close to the original master recording. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome score! I dug the hell out of the needle drop! It's always cool to discover some forgotten local bands like that. Zeek Geek shared a link on the Facebook page a few days ago for garage rock heaven and you can search by location on it. I found out there was a local garage rock band with two members from my hometown in the early 60's. Turns out the lead vocalist is a friend's aunt. I'm on the search for the 45 of it now. So cool man! Thanks for the shou tout! This is right up my alley!
Awesome finds, Travis! I was surprised at just how many of those 45s I owned as well (minus the sleeves, of course)! You've definitely got me interested in the history of the Ladds and those other locsl acts. I would love to hear a needle drop on those when you have the time! Cheers! - Ryan
Some cool 45s in there - and with the sleeves... As you do this more, you realize you start to talk to EVERYONE about records, bums, baristas, anybody, just in case they have a hookup... we are worse than heroin junkies...
Awesome scores Travis! All of those wicked 45's for 10 bucks?!? Really nice Beatles and Stones finds. Love Tommy James and The Shondells, but don't own any of their albums yet. "Uncle Albert, Admiral Hasley"; one of my favorites off of 'Ram'. Super sweet garage rock finds! I'm going to have to check out more of The Ladds stuff. Oh, and I love the Seeds in the background. That's one album I've been trying to find for a while. Again, super awesome stuff! Hope we can talk later. Sydney
BeeGee's "To Love Somebody" was def pre-disco...most of their Atco releases were pre-disco, when their producer Robert Stigwood (writer of "Saturday Night Fever"), created his own label, RSO Records (Robert Stigwood Operations), thats when they changed their directions...just a bit of trivia for you ...excellent score Travis!
BTW Gary, I have a lot of old newspaper articles, photo shoots, and other memorabilia I would love to share with you. Hope I hear from you because this subject is the most important part of the love I have still for classic and local rock bands I use to hang around with...
Some of those 7" that you said "you may not be too into " might be the ones that are really good T. I got some 45's handed down to me when I was about 10 and after pulling out the Beatles/Stones, I pushed the rest aside. Come to find out as I got older there were quite a few gems in the push asides. The garage rock 7" are nice. I heard of Silver Bullet Band but not Silver Bullets? Silver Apples yes. I think you will dig the Burlington Express. They are on YT. Sweet post T~ Rob (^‿◕) Boston
I don't know how often you check messages, but I was a big fan of the LADDS, but the writer and singer of them, Alexander Campbell, is still in La Crosse, and just saw the needle drop this week. I think he sent a comment on the 6 song video you posted. If you want more info on the group, he's on FB, and would be glad to share!
Hi Pat, yes I got Alex's comment on my other video ..trying to reach him on Facebook, I hope I found the correct profile. Would love to talk about his music! Thanks!! -Travis
The best 45s are those by artists you've never heard of and on labels you've never heard of.
Well worth $10!
That needle drop was class! I've never heard of The Ladds before. I'll definitely be picking their stuff up ifI come across them! Cool - Mikey
