Emergency services respond to ski lift collapse in Spanish Pyrenees

A ski lift accident at the Astun resort in the Spanish Pyrenees on Saturday (January 18) left dozens injured.
Around 80 skiers were trapped on the malfunctioning chairlift, with witnesses reporting that a cable failure caused chairs to bounce, throwing some riders off.
President of the Aragon regional government, Jorge Azcon, confirmed that three seriously injured individuals were airlifted to hospitals in Huesca and Zaragoza.
"Despite the severity of their injuries, all three are conscious," Azcon said.
He praised the swift action of emergency services in rescuing trapped skiers and ensuring injured individuals received care.
The cause of the cable failure will be determined by the Spanish Civil Guard.
