Been a loyal follower since about a year ago when my wonderful partner bought me an 18" Old Smokey, and now you've convinced me to get my 18" a 22" big brother, I'm gonna try and baptize her with a big ol turkey this holiday season, cheers from Houston, TX Big Lew!!
Lew a Turkey should look tender juicy and delicious and that one does. My poultry has never been fashion show or Instagram worthy. Love the vortex idea. Great video
Big Lew! You inspired me to start smoking turkeys on one of your earlier videos. Been doing it 5 years in a row with my dad and they’ve gotten better and better each year. We need more people like you in this wold! Happy thanksgiving
That turkey looked delicious to me Big Lew! Looked juicy as can be and I bet it tasted amazing! I've been wanting to do a turkey like that but got rid of my vertical cookers..... Might just have to get a new one!
Great looking Turkey! Great use of the Vortex! I have seen one of those Old Smokey’s in action here in the UK 🇬🇧 A guy from Texas turned up with one at an event I organised. Stay Safe 👍🇬🇧
I won’t, but it will be next year before my viewers see my do this again. This was an experiment, next year it will be experience. Thanks for watching.
I went back a couple of years for this one. Big Lew, just ordered the 18 inch Old Smokey! So freaking excited! So sorry my friend but I'll be bugging you for advice.
Where do you live? Here in the central Gulf South, Old Smokey’s are available at most hardware stores and even Wal-Mart. However the brand is still somewhat regional. So if you live out side of the area you probably do meet to order them. They are ubiquitous Arron’s these parts. I need to update this video. I have cooked a Turkey with this method several times since. They come out pretty looking now. I don’t keep the charcoal so hot. Thanks man. I love cooking on my Old Smokey.
Cool setup. Looked awesome. Thanks for continuing to promote the Old Smokey. You inspired me to get an 18" one and I had forgotten what great smokers they are.
When I saw the amount of charcoal, I was thinking, "yeah that's going to get hot". Trial and error is the only way we learn. Great job though. Meat looked scrumptious
@@BigLewBBQ One more thing- I have never made nor eaten oyster dressing. I love oysters and love dressings. Could you maybe show us how to make oyster dressing? Thanks
@@Bob.Loblaw.Bob.Loblaw I actually plan to make one this weekend when my daughter is home from college. One like that one seen in this video. I made one several years ago on video when my channel was new. However it is part of a real long video where I made a complete thanks giving meal in one smoker.
Brother I have been meaning to do this for years with my vortex. I have the same trouble with heat when I rotisserie sometimes because of the big hole where the skewer goes through. Just open a crack seems to hold my 325 to 350 I’m looking for. Thanks for sharing my friend and a blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I think I like this style of cooking turkey. It had a lot of good techniques. I appreciate the learning curve, you shared with us. Thanks for failing, so l wouldn't have to. But at the same time, you were able to learn and teach many things. Even with that, the turkey turned out good. Happy Thanksgiving🦃🥧. Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing.😎🇺🇸.

I think OS is the best value in the barbecue industry. There are better grills, but none better in this price range. I love my OS!
