    In my opinion, the T-Rex in Jurassic Park is Stan Winston’s crowning achievement in special effects. What he and his company achieved is unbelievable. A 40 foot, 9,000 lb animatronic T-Rex. Who builds something like that and expects it to work? Well it did. It worked beautifully.

    Simply amazing, this blows any CGI out of the water, the undertaking is just behemoth. I know people have already said this and I feel the need to harp on about it, but I REALLY miss films like this, the eighties and to some extent early nineties were a real golden era of film for me. I'm only 28, but I finally understand what 'old' folk mean when they say 'They don't make them like they used to'!

    Winston's contribution is undoubtedly remarkable. He did not just revived dinosaurs for cinematography purposes, but he resurrected them in ways that we couldn't have imagined! Two decades later and documentaries, as well as each and every subsequent display of them in any other unrelated films to JP franchise, happens to represents them, exactly as Stan envisioned them. In every aspect, in dozens of post Jurassic Park films & animal documentaries they look and are based on his careful and detailed research on them. Stan you did not just created, you inspired!

      Cam Wrecker I am pretty sure that they would very much like to tell us about JP4, but if they are part of that project they probably also have very strict rules in terms of what they are allowed to tell the public and the project is most likely at a stage, where they are not allowed to say much. This is not their call to make :) Also I am not really sure, what they could say to your question. I honestly think that every moviemaker will tell you that their movie is quite good, at least he will say so while filming it and right afterwards, and this is not just because of allegiance to the company and the ticket sale and so forth. I also think it is because of the fact, that having been working on such a large project as a movie production, I believe you feel a sense of pride and self satisfactory from having actually completed the production.
      Over time many directors look back at their productions and sometimes they realize that it was terrible and sometimes they just realize small things they could have done better.
      IN SHORT :) I believe the answer to your question is that they think it will kick ass very much indeed :)

      the material they used to create the skin of the dino decomposes in a year or maybe 2 years (max) but the "skeleton" is really durable, so in 1996-7 they had to recreate the skin again to shoot the "Jurassic Park-The Lost World). I've yet
      to figure out if the t-rex animatronic was actually used in the final version of JP1, or if it was rather totally replaced by CGI due to trouble encountered with animatronic working under rain.
      Additionally, what was the static model used for? To build the skin of the animatronic?

    • @harrier331
      @harrier331 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jumpjack2
      it was used in the final version, CGI at the time was mostly poor, if you watch the film closely you cal tell that they used this dino, there is a video somewhere of them filming it but i cant remember where.

    • @Crixe
      @Crixe 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      jumpjack2 it was used in the original they just had to dry the skin off a lot but it was used for scenes like when it looked into the Jeep that was real, they used a bladder system to create the eye dilation. The issue was when it got wet they had to cut dry it off then keep going, because it would start to shake under the finely tuned weight and servos operating it's movement. Most of the close ups were practical effects. Only 4 minutes of the movie was done using CGI the rest was all practical (about 14 minutes of dinos in the whole movie rest was just amazing actors doing their best). It's the things you can't see that are the most scary.

      Since we know the density of a comparably-sized animals such as elephants, and the principle of the square-cube law, we can closely approximate a T-Rex's weight and mass through mathmatics.
