well, if TFA and TLJ were never made, Carrie probably would have been with us still, events would have been different, it's all a following of events really, we'll never know
When the Phantom Menace came out, I was in high-school. By that time, I had watched the original trilogy, I had liked it, but that was about it. What the prequel trilogy did, despite its flaws, was that it drew so many people into the Star Wars world, either for the first time or just like me, seeking to learn more for what I had already watched previously. My hope is that the sequel trilogy and the two stand alone movies have managed to do the same for the current generation of kids and young adults. I do think they have and that is a win.
Michael Mavrommatis thats insane because I was 9 when Ep 1 came out and I already loved the originals but knew the newer ones werent as good. But Ive also never been one to call them shit. However upon reviewing them recently. The first 2 have a ton of issues. Mainly in the way theyre shot. Ep 2 is the only horrible movie tho
Michael the difference with the previous trilogies is that they were written by the same man. Modern audiences can clearly see that this useful trilogy is a disaster without any internal cohesion. Star Wars as a brand is in decline. As an opposite example I can ask you to observe the effect that The Mandalorian has had on the public
Jackson Jack I didn’t want to make the original post tl;dr so I didn’t quite expand. When I say ‘I liked the original trilogy but that was about it’ I meant that I didn’t do a deep dive into the lore because of them. That happened for me with the prequels and not because I thought of them as better movies than the original trilogy, but despite the fact that they weren’t as good. What I wanted to get across is that you never know what will draw you into the lore and get you hooked and my hope is that the new trilogy has managed to do that for people. Personally I liked that we got some really memorable moments from the prequels, like Qui-Gon and Obi Wan’s duel with Maul in EpI, the arena battle in EpII, the duel between Obi Wan and Anakin and Order 66 (which always makes me gutted) in EpIII. I frequently rewatch Ep I to III and every time I see more clearly what made them not as good movies, but they do offer me new things to get hooked on.
Albano Moreno i agree that the lack of cohesion in vision for the sequels is evident and that it had hurt the movies, but I won’t necessarily agree that the franchise is in decline. Your point on the Mandalorian being exactly proof of that. It has managed to attract people who haven’t even watched the movies. And as we move forward and we get more content that is not as closely linked to the Skywalker saga, it will potentially attract even more people
Honestly and I really enjoyed the Sequel Trilogy, but I feel like the TV Show format is the best format for Star Wars. Give me 5 episodes of Mandalorian quality tv over a new movie anyday. Now that TV is on the same level of Cinema, the possibilities are endless. Im crazy hyped for Cassian and Kenobi after the first season of Mando.
Hopefully they put more money in to season 2 of The Mandalorian. It's pretty great but it's definitely has some budget constraints. Some of the acting of the lesser characters is pretty cringey.
Major Zuma i hate tv show format. It makes it impossible to rewatch. You can rewatch Star Wars movies every year or few. But once the Mandolorian gets over 3 seasons. I cant rewatch all that shit. Movies are better.
Watching the opening credits for _The Force Awakens_ is one of my favourite cinema memories. I remember feeling so lucky and privileged to be living in a time where I could finally watch a _Star War_ movie on the big screen (I was born in 2000). I've enjoyed every movie that's come out since, but that was the last film I went into with no thought for fan outrage. It got me into _Star Wars_ beyond just the films and _The Clone Wars._ A year later, I saw Darth Vader on the big screen for the first time in my life, with a much better understanding of what made him tick and what he was capable of. I could not contain my excitement when he cut down the Rebels. I have faith in this franchise, if not its fans. I don't have children, but I hope by the time I do, Lucasfilm is still putting out new films.
So ready. I love how it’s barely been touched before. Eventually full Old Republic would be cool too, but this allows them to try something really fresh and unique.
I just really hope they've learned all the right lessons from their mistakes so far. I've enjoyed all of Disney Star Wars thus far but it's hard to deny things could've been better.
Bob Iger is definitely to blame for a lot of the problems. He's the one who wanted it all rushed into production in the first place. That said, I was using "they" pretty generally to refer to everyone involved. Disney, Lucasfilm, anyone with any sort of creative say.
I completely agree, there isn't a single piece of new material under Disney that I've hated. Regarding the MCU comment, I find those movies to be fun, but extremely bland. There is such an abundance that it seriously feels like watching the same movie 20 times
I loved ‘The Force Awakens’. I liked ‘Rogue One’. I liked ‘The Last Jedi’. I thought ‘Solo’ was okay. I thought ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ was okay. I do think that internet culture has played too much of a role in the cohesiveness (or lack thereof) of the sequel trilogy, especially in the case of TROS.
I loved 'Rogue One' I liked 'The Force Awakens' I liked 'The Rise of Skywalker' I thought 'Solo' was okay I do not like 'The Last Jedi' I agree 100% that internet culture had an affect on the movies. Hopefully we'll get a good cohesive story in the future that has its own vision and damn what people/politics there are at the time. That's the only way to make good Star Wars. I believe the Mandalorian shows us 'the way'.
I loved 'The Force Awakens'. I disliked 'Rogue One'. I loved 'The Last Jedi'. I liked 'Solo'. I liked 'The Rise Of Skywalker'. God people are gonna hate me now
"Rogue One" was fine for me I don't like "The Force Awakens" I don't care about "The Last Jedi" I don't like and care about "The Rise of Skywalker" I thought "Solo" was okay
I really liked The Force Awakens. I loved Rogue One. I hated The Last Jedi. I liked Solo. I loved The Rise Of Skywalker. I hope we get a trilogy of the Old Republic era, or I am okay with 10-11-12, if all planned out, from start to finish.
It's always been ironic (heh) for me watching so much of the fandom whine that the new movies "ruined their childhoods" and "disrespected the franchise," because if not for Disney, I wouldn't be nearly as big a Star Wars fan as I am today. I grew up on the Special Edition VHS's and loved them, saw the prequels in theaters and thought they were terrible even as a kid, I was so uninterested in the EU, and I didn't really care about TFA. Then I saw Rogue One and was blown away. I expected to not gaf about it (I saw it for free) and ended up loving it, and it really opened up the world for me. Now I've gone back and bought a ton of the old games, I'm starting to read comics and books, I've even reevaluated the prequels, and I have a lovely hardbound volume of all of Ralph McQuarrie's work on the OT literally arriving today lol. All because of the company that "killed Star Wars." In many ways, the 3 years of diving into the universe that were sparked by Rogue One were rewarded by The Mandalorian, which was packed with references I wouldn't have gotten 5 years ago. So even with the missteps that have been discussed to death by now, I'm thankful for Disney's work on the franchise. It turned Star Wars from some movies I loved into a universe I adore.
Instead of a Palpatine trying to seduce a Skywalker to the darkside (1-6), the Skywalkers trained a Palpatine to be a Jedi (7-9). View the sequel trilogy (and saga) through that lens. Thank me later.
On paper that sounds great, but the execution wasn't. There are things about the sequels, and specifically TROS that ruin parts of the previous movies. The force healing being one thing that makes Anakin's turn to the dark side seem so stupid now.
pamelam4 not really. It’s something you can chalk up to Rey reading about it in the old texts, which were lost to time. Even if they did know about it, like it was during the EU, they sure as shit weren’t in any mood to teach Anakin. Plus, are we really to believe he made the right decision before force healing was a thing? It was already tragic as is but now we know the Anakin could’ve saved Padme had he stayed on the light side. He wasn’t exactly the brightest spot, REALLY easy for Palpatine to lie and manipulate him.
@@arbynChief617 Also, I think it can be assumed that a full death-to-life heal requires absolute selflessness, which Anakin, of course, was certainly not.
Poe being a spice runner has already been answered. When Poe's mother died in his teen years, he went through a rebellious phase and became a spice runner before realizing what he was doing was wrong and joining the New Republic Navy.
The sequel trilogy is MY trilogy, it's what got me into Star Wars in the first place, but I agree with you SO MUCH when it comes to the planning(or lack thereof), not consulting the story group enough or "respecting" the lore. It could have been so much better. Very excited for what Rian Johnson is gonna do in the future!
I love these movies. I am a bit glad, that Disney bought Star Wars, because George Lucas said he wanted to create a new triology to dive deeper into the Midiclorianer Stuff. I wouldn't prefered that. I'm happy with Phase 1 of Disney Star Wars. I love 7, 9 and Rogue One. I don't like 8 and Solo was ok. The Mandalorian is very cool and i am excited for Season 2. I'm also excited for the Clone Wars Season 7. The Resistance was not my thing, but when Disney + comes to Germany in March i will give it another try. I hope you can understand my english. :)

I am excited to see the new opportunities Star Wars takes now that is not restrained by the Skywalker Saga
I saw an interview with JJ where he said he had Pablo Hidalgo on speed dial to make sure he didn't make any goofs while writing Rise of Skywalker, but having seen the movie I feel like maybe that was a tangled web of lies.
Hidalgo is just a guy who goes over already established canon. I’m no where does it say you can go and add things later. I’m eager to know when and how Palpatine had a son. I’m willing to bet it’s a clone of himself who didn’t turn out the way he wanted.
Doesn't matter what you say on your channel, I will usually apreciate how respectful and non-judgemental you are about the canon. You don't say things like "that is trash" or "it ruined everything", even to the things you do not like. That is a very mature way of seeing thing since, you know, they are just movies, entertainment. I'm really angry with the youtube channels that trash on thing and make a shitshow out of thing they don't like, because even I, a hardcore Star Wars fan who watches and reads every Star Wars thing, even the ones I dislike, even I see it just as fun, and the backlash and hatred that I've seen going on with Star Wars talkabouters is frustrating, and even annoying.
I think that Jedi: Fallen Order is the best Star Wars game of the last decade although... even though it is great, it didn't have much to compete against in terms of quality. The last good Star Wars game beforehand was Force Unleashed 1.
@@jakunosek seriously though, what have we had between the two (excluding mobile games)? The Force Unleashed 2 Star Wars: The Old Republic EA Battlefront Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens EA Battlefront 2
@@EyeOfMagnus4E201 yeah but compare the list to the amount of high quality Star Wars games from the 2000s: the Jedi Knight games, KOTOR, Battlefront 1/2, Republic Commando, The Force Unleashed, etc
It's so sad that this trilogy didn't have a prior planning, it had so much potential, especially at the stage that the cinema is, with the special effects and all. At least they did in a time Carrie Fisher was still alive to participate in all 3 movies. Even with its flaws I love the sequels, but it could've been so much more.
Phase 2 Old Republic and more Dark Siders the Sith Lords I want to see are... Darth Bane Darth Revan Darth Nihilus Darth Malgus Darth Tenebrous Darth Plagueis
Alex I completely agree. I think Star Wars stories will start being less controversial because these new stories won't have 40 years of baggage behind them.
I've loved pretty much everything in this new canon so far. TFA is my favorite Star Wars movie of them all and I really enjoyed all of the other four as well. They hit a jackpot with the casting of Rey, Poe, Finn and especially Kylo in my opinion. That being said, I have already mentally said goodbye to these characters I love so much and the whole Skywalker saga. Really excited about the future. Like Alex, I also hope for more cohesion between the new movies and their connection to the larger canon as well. Rian Johnson is a brilliant storyteller, I hope he comes back for more movies
Like you, I try to keep a positive outlook for Star Wars. I’m so grateful we get new content now to discuss/debate. Rogue One & Solo are awesome/true to the lore we love. Of the sequel trilogy, I love RoS the most because of all the action, nostalgia and solid attempt at wrapping up a disorganized trilogy. TLJ is next, because it took some big risks (some great, some terrible) but only better than TFA because that was just a safe reboot / re-hash of A New Hope. I think the trilogy format may not be the best now; Disney should consider more anthology/one-off films because of the respect earned through Rogue One & Solo. Plus there’s more freedom in just one film as opposed to following three films and their rules.
For me 1. The Force Awakens - was an ok movie. A good jump off point for the next era of Star Wars. Not great not terrible. Weird that Luke straight up wasn't in the movie. Rey also doesn't really have any strong character building moments, she's just awesome from "go", which is fine but it doesn't alow the audience to naturally grow to love and root for her. 6/10 2. Rogue One - Awesome amazing! I loved everything about it. For me that's saying a lot because I love the force and force users and we almost got nothing until Vader at the end. However Chirrut Imwe was excellent and a good view of a mildly force sensitive martial artist. It was dark, everyone dies, no sugar coating and great battle/fight scenes. I loved it for similar reasons as why I love Game of Thrones. 9/10 3. The Last Jedi - I loved and hated this movie. Excellent highs and terrible lows. Pretorian guard scene, flashbacks, creepy Rey cave scene 10/10. Luke being a grumpy old man then just dying for basically no reason, no true lightsaber duel, killing the main villain in the middle movie of a trilogy 0/10. So overall I loved and hated it. I give it a 7/10 4. Solo - it was a good movie about a 2nd tier main character. Low overall implications for the entire SW saga. I think the ceiling is only so high for such a movie. There was nothing that I hated. I loved that Maul was in it. If you ask me they could have added more. I dont care if it's fan service, I need lightsabers and the force in every SW movie. Is Star Trek going to do a movie solely contained on a planet with no spaceships? 7/10 5. The Rise of Skywalker - It took me until the second viewing to like this movie but I consider it the best of the trilogy. I love bendemption. I like that we got Knights of Ren action. Rey accidentally using force lighting was dope. Even though I like the movie I do have many gripes. Rey at the end should have overpowered Sideous with her bare hands and use of Tutaminis instead of just " what now, I have TWO lightsabers". The fight scenes were ok but a little too "crouching tiger hidden dragon" for me. I would have liked a style more akin to Revenge of the Sith. The acrobatics that they included were big slow long jumps instead of quick flips and turns. The fighting still felt slow and heavy handed not quick light and fantastical like Obi-Wan vs Anakin or Yoda vs Sideous or Mace vs Sideous. I think the only fight that was close in the entire trilogy was the pretorian guard scene and that was low on force abilities. Huge whiff on not including Anakin (biggest whiff in Star Wars history if you ask me. He's got to be in the final movie) I wish Ben lived and had to rehabilitate his image. I like that Rey finally constructed her own lightsaber and I wish it happened at the start of the movie. So many things I could comb over but all in all I do like the movie. 7/10 Of this era of movies I rate them 1. Rogue One 9/10 2. The Rise of Skywalker 7/10 3. The Last Jedi 7/10 4. The Force Awakens 6/10 5. Solo 7/10 (last slot because of low saga-wide implications)
Rogue 1 was my favorite of these new movies but I enjoyed them all, yes even solo. I do agree heavily that what ever comes next needs a plan and someone to oversee the whole process. My hope is for a Darth Revan trilogy, I think he is one of the most exciting and complex characters in all of Star Wars
I loved these characters. Sometimes I think I'm the only person who enjoyed the campaign of Battlefront 2. BTW Zay and Shriv showed up in the Resistance Reborn book and were great!
David D'Adamo Yeah I’ve Played The Game && Watched The Review Of Resistance Reborn, But Where Were They During The Rise Of Skywalker?? 🤔 Thats My Question Lol.
Alex this is so good. So level-headed and knowledgeable, totally spelling out my thoughts and feelings. You and Mollie are truly the best and I’m proud to be a Patron!! Gotta go send this to all my friends, bye ✨
When people criticize the new movies for "lack of a plan", I'm like, "George had Leia slip Luke the tongue, and then in the next movie revealed that they are siblings."
Mike R. yes but they had a basic plan outlining lukes progression to a jedi master as well as vader and the emperor and yoda and obi wan too. they added details about lukes relationships with vader and leia because it added to the story. having a plan and adding to it is different from not having one at all.
@@bennett4789 It is clear from Kylo Ren's first appearance in TFA that he was going to rise to darkness and then come back again. It was clear that Rey's journey was that it's not about where you come from, it's where you go from there and finding family in the Resistance. It was clear that the OT characters were going to be teachers, passing on the torch. They had a basic outline and vision for this trilogy, and they never deviated from it. Episode 8 kills irrelevant Emperor doppelgänger and entire fanbase has a break down. Its so silly.
I think you're mistaken about a few "retcons" or "errors" in the film that you've brought up here and in a few other videos. *Spoiler warning.* 1. Chewie's medal - While yes, Chewie gets a medal in the ancillary canon materials, it just didn't fit right in time for Episode IV's award ceremony, he gave it away at the end of his eponymous comic, so he doesn't have one. Furthermore, this is Han Solo's medal that Leia was holding onto at the end, so this is not a "new" medal for Chewie, it's something to remember Leia and Han by now that they're both gone and his other medal is gone too. This is decent reading for fans who watch and read everything canon, but the simpler take for viewers just of the movies is that it's justice for Chewie not getting one on-screen in Episode IV. So movie-only viewers get their justice, but there's a deeper meaning to it too. It's like the Kessel Run. Just watching Episode IV, it sounds like a bluff. But watching Solo adds another layer to it (he's lying about the distance, but not about the Run in its entirety). 2. Poe Dameron - yes, Zorii's condensing it down. She may not even have known he was New Republic for a while. Poe makes it clear he wants to join the Resistance back in his prequel story in Before the Awakening, but he doesn't know how. It could be he joined the Navy in order to join the Resistance. Or it could be that Zorii knew he was Resistance since leaving but didn't know about the middle party. In any case, the movies never mention his time as a New Republic pilot, and I'm pretty sure the Visual Dictionary said that his Spice Runner days were when he ran away as a teenager. It's deepening his story in a way we didn't know previously about, and it serves the larger purpose of letting him do shadier tech stuff that Finn didn't know about previously. I'm sure we'll get a novel or a comic book exploring this younger Poe, if not a whole TV show titled something like "Spice Runners." Anyway, just wanted to pop in there with this. I love your show in general, just had a few thoughts here, really not trying to be negative. :) Thanks for the take on Phase 1!
Same here! The sequel trilogy is on par with the prequels to me, and the prequels were just a tiny bit lower in quality to the originals. I loved Solo as well. Rogue One was good but definitely my least favorite Star Wars movie overall. But even then, I love this entire series.
The first two minutes of this video is about right where I’m at with Star Wars. And at the end of the day, I’m Just happy we’re getting more Star Wars.
Force Awakens is pretty good, Rogue One is great, The Last Jedi is not my favorite but has good parts, Solo is great, And The Rise of Skywalker was great, that’s my personal opinion on them at least
100% agree with everything! They need a plan. New stories and new characters from different time periods (old republic!), better coordination with the Lucasarts story group. Let’s hope for the best for the future of Star Wars!
I agree that the sequel trilogy does feel disjointed, but I also agree that I'm so thankful for new and continued Star Wars stories coming out. Rogue One and Last Jedi have given me two of my favorite Star Wars movies, and I've enjoyed all five to varying degrees. I'm hoping what comes next does feel more cohesive and I'm looking forward to it.
Honestly really agreed with what Alex said in the first three minutes. More people should try to work through the issues they had with the movie or at least focus on the good parts. Instead people just sit around and complain and make the problems they had worse rather than trying to make the situation better
I’ve really enjoyed Disney’s Star Wars. TFA & TLJ were the absolute highlights for me, with TROS being the lowest, but my excitement hasn’t dwindled away
While they're not perfect, getting Rogue One and Solo made me extremely happy. I'm hoping they continue to expand on everything other than the Skywalkers.
The internet has definitely influenced how people rate the new movies. Why be the outlier that likes the new movie when you can join everyone else and hate it for every little thing? That being said, here’s what I thought of each Disney canon film: The Force Awakens - loved it Rogue One - loved it The Last Jedi - liked it Solo - it was okay The Rise of Skywalker - liked it
I feel like all 3 trilogies have tons of inconsistencies and things that were not planned for, however the Sequels had the opportunity to have a cohesive plan from the beginning that they didnt take the time to do or didn't want to. I'm sure no one would have minded a delay to make sure these films were of a higher quality.
nah, revan have too much lore so nobody will be satisfied with an movie who will chance or contradict the game or comics. keep him as an background mistic character and focus on tarre and bane who have few to almost none lore
Overall, I really enjoyed all five films that Disney gave us. I agree that there are more positives than negatives about each one. However, I do think there is a lot that Disney can learn from these five films when planning what comes next. For example, a well thought out story. But aside from that, I liked them all so much.
Yeah I pretty much agree that your suggestions for planning/having a consistent overseer can help for future films. Although the latter will help set Star Wars apart from the MCU. My hope is that a future film brings back the TLJ Force equality message. Another idealistic hope I have is that a future film enhances the Rey stuff from TROS by adding depth and complexity to it.
I agree with you pretty much on all counts, I do think the biggest weakness of the sequel trilogy was the lack a cohesive vision but i still really enjoyed all three films, super excited for the future
A dream scenario for the sequel trilogy imo would have been to have Faverau, Filoni, and Rian Johnson work one singular story and let Rian direct them. Faverau just knows what kind of story the fans like and Filoni can tie it in and make it feel as close to George’s Star Wars as anyone out there. And like you said the way Rian cared to actually spend time with the story group and making it cohesive in the universe (even if he tried to make something different) would have been nice to see. (I liked all 3 sequels but can see their flaws just feel like that needs to be said people know I have no extreme bias)
Thanks, Alex! 🌟 I've loved 'em all, despite their flaws and issues (and, as you echoed, to varying degrees). I'm so looking forward to Phase Two! Agreed, even though the original trilogy didn't have a singular. solid plan... newer movies (and tv series) really should have (or, at the very least, benefit from) consistent visions and well-planned storylines (with enough wiggle room for creativity and real-world changes... like the loss of a performer, etc.).
This is a genuine question out of curiosity, I’m 23 and I’ve never read the legends stuff but I do love the new books and canon stuff. What makes the old republic era so great?? Is it because there’s more Jedi and Sith around or am I missing something?
I feel like 6 would have been better titled Rise of Skywalker and 9 would have been better if it was called Return of the Jedi. I just think those titles fit better.
I think The Last Jedi is my 2nd favourite SW movie. Its good that TROS continues Kylo-Rey Force connection, but Rey Palpatine wasn't neccessary. She could do the same thing and have the same "fight with herself" as Rey No one. And Palpatine as a new enemy was only because Snoke's death. Someone in Lucasfilm should think how to tell the story with Kylo as a main enemy. If only Rian directed episode IX....
I'm calling the first 5 years a success despite some hiccups. I loved the sequels (even The Rise of Skywalker don't hate me my opinion, at least its not Cats) and spin-offs were great, especially Rogue One
The only main thing I noticed with the contradictions was when Ren told Rey that her parents "were filthy junk traders. Who sold you off for drinking money." In the Last Jedi. In the Rise of Skywalker, Ren said "They chose to be nobody." That's something that I just noticed
It wasn't a contradiction it was a lie, Rey sees a ship flying off in episode 7 and is screaming at presumably her parents are on it. episode 8 Kylo says they died on Jammu. Rey didn't know what happened to her parents so Kylo just told her what she thought she knew.
"Rey Paplpatine? That choice just no longer felt natural to me." The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some would call...unnatural.
The last jedi is my favourite SW movie with ROTS and ESB. But in the end I liked all of them; I think they are all superior to the standard of the blockbusters (superhero movies and other stuff). TROS is a good adventure movie and Ben is one of the best characters of the entire universe.
@@liamanthonyrookyard4869 bruh Kotor and I know it isn't necessarily the most well written era but the legacy era is really fascinating to people like me
Star Wars: Rogue One (2016) and Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) are the greatest sci-fi blockbuster movies ever from 20th Century-Fox and Lucasfilm Ltd.
I'm just sitting here, nodding the whole time because I agree with just about everything you're saying! I'm excited for the future of Star Wars and your channel :)
Every SW Movie to this Date either links directly to Darth Vader or at least the Empire. I am ready to see something completely different. May it be in the past or in the future of the Skywalker Saga.
Poe's background and Chewie's medal were annoying to someone familiar with canon, but they are ultimately forgivable. The movie had far bigger contradictions though, specifically Finn referring to Endor as the site where the last war ended. That's not a retcon of some story group decision, it's a retcon of JJ's previous movie.
@@StephenKretsinger I'm referring to the fact that Chewie was even given a medal, as it's now been established that he did receive one but did not want it so he gave it away. Honestly it makes the fact that Maz gives it to him so much funnier, but also illustrates that the production team behind rise of skywalker did not need to consult with the story group.
@@ANEbk9 I disagree. It wasn't awarded to him. It was a memento that was gifted to him to remember Han and Leia, his best friends who both died in the past year
@@StephenKretsinger I never got that impression, but that certainly would make more sense. If that's what they were going for though they should have given him Han's gold dice as the two previous films really tried to make us think those were important to Han. Oh well.
@@ANEbk9 Good point. Maybe those were still on the Falcon. The medal makes sense because Chewie couldn't fit into his vest. 😝 I can't remember where we last saw the dice. Obviously the pair from TLJ were force projections.
Haven't got much to add regarding thoughts on the last five years, basically because I agree with pretty much everything you said in your video and can't think of much to add :) I'm very interested (and perhaps a little apprehensive) to see how audiences respond to Star Wars as it moves away from the original characters / movies. I think a lot of Marvels success has come from a broad recognition of its characters with the general public (Iron Man, Hulk etc) but a low level of awareness of the Marvel universe and the legacy of stories from the comics because ultimately, I think those (larger universe, existing stories) are less important to getting bums on seats. Star Wars feel like a franchise and brand that relies move on world and stories. I think casting is going to be important, landing recognisable stars in lead roles for future movies to get that initial excitement going! What do you think? As an aside, was a bit disappointed that Jodie Comer had her cameo in Rise of Skywalker because it probably precludes her from appearing in future movies (would love a Star Wars Villanelle type character). I did also want to just say a general (all purpose) thanks you for all your Star Wars content. Really love the channel and general, positive attitude you always bring to any Star Wars discussion.
I'm of the opinion that working with the story group should be mandatory. Their purpose is to minimise contradiction and by pretty deliberately ignoring them it creates problems. JJ: Poe is a former criminal, Like Han Solo Story Group: No... He's a former member of the new republic. JJ: The Sith have these pyramidy things called wayfinders Story Group: Holocron JJ, you could use holocrons. JJ: Look Chewie Got His Medal Story Group: He Already had one, we just don't see it in the movies. But whatever we can explain that one as it being Han's Medal. JJ: Exogal. Spooky Sith Home World Story Group: Korriban... Or Moraband... Or Rakata Prime... Or Byss even... You had options here man, you didn't have to give the audience a seizure.
Great video David 🙂 I watched the movie, it seemed like a nice conclusion. But it brought in some questions like that you need to read books for. Like how Leia was a Jedi, and Lando has a daughter.
By themselves, I enjoyed each ST movie. But what you say about lack of a plan/lack of cohesion between directors i completely agree. For future movies, I would love to see more lower powered storylines. Skywalkers, Rey, Kylo Ren, Yoda and Palpatine are ridiculously powerful. No one should reach that level of power In future movies (maybe one or two max). I want Kenobi/Qui Gon Jinn/Windu/Darth Maul level of power. It would also be cool to have multiple force users like we see in the PT, rather than the tiny number in the ST.
Just a thought but In the legends comics boba fett had a daughter and a wife, is it possible that we could see his daughter in season two of the mandalorian? If you don’t know what I’m talking about just look up Ailyn Vel on google or Wookieepedia
The success of the original trilogy was a fluke. A perfect storm of circumstances, of which The Empire Strikes Back is the lynchpin. Creating the original trilogy was "Great shot kid! That was one in a million", not a blueprint for future success.
I definitely agree with what you said in regards to inconsistencies in TROS. While many of them can be "explained away" like with the Visual Dictionary, the problem is the intent of the instance. It felt like the *intent* was to say "Poe was a spice runner and then joined the Resistance" rather than just having Zorri skip some steps in her story. It felt like the *intent* of Chewie being given Han's medal was "Chewie finally got his medal!" instead of "This was Han's (and Leia's) medal, and now it belongs to you in remembrance" and that is what doesn't sit well with me.
As someone who lived through the batshit crazy years of the Expanded Universe, I don't understand all the complaining about minor things in this video. Still gets a thumbs up though. :)
I love Your content and your attitude! You are so cold headed and passionate, I wish whole community was this positive. I am also so curious about Your view over the recent rumours about JJ and Disney huge conflict.
I feel like the future of Star Wars films is the Old Republic era. There’s more creativity, along with possibilities for new stories. I loved all the Star Wars films thus far. However it’s IMPOSSIBLE to meet the expectations of every fan for a film series that’s forty years old. Also the Mandalorian proves that live action Star Wars shows are profitable. Fans will commit to a show that has great storytelling, and matches the quality of Star Wars films. There’s endless possibilities.
There were broad strokes for the trilogy, they just made room for flexibility an freedom for other writers and directors but they still had planned story beats. Like Kylo-Luke story or Kylo arc in general (Adam told in interview about his character and that he knew his endgame). Lucas also had broad stokes but still felt free to change things along the way. Like the fact that Leia is Luke sister although he original planned to introduce her as a new character that we haven't met. There are writers who are gardeners who like plant seeds and develop them along the way. GRRM author of Ice and Fire books original wanted Jaime to stay as the bad guy, but he was surprised while writing him where he could take the character and the depths he could reveal. And there are architect they know where every beat, character or moment will go and land. There is no right way or rule on how to write. (Sorry for my rough English grammer, not my first language ☹️ )
I have a video request from you can I ask you to make a video about where do you see Star Wars episode 9 rise of the Skywalker and where do you see where it will be just by the canon just by the movies? I hope that you get a chance to make a timeline just based from the movies as for the TV cartoons is just based from the Star Wars legends and Star Wars novelizations that’s all they are Just a little hint about that but I would like to see if you would not mind making a video or request from me I am asking you to make a video about how to play the Star Wars movies in order without using legends and novelizations of Star Wars I hope that you were going to do that because I want to know of how you feel about the overall timeline
Rogue One was my favorite of "phase one". Rise of Skywalker was my least favorite. Generally I liked the anthology stories a lot. The Last Jedi was my favorite of the sequel trilogy, but I understand why it didn't work for everybody. I liked Force Awakens on first watch, but its lost its luster over the years for me. Solo is a solid C+ of a film, it's fine and entertaining. Mandalorian is the best thing we have got from Disney so far in my opinion. This is the way.
I kinda hoped Snoke could have survived. I might be the only one who enjoyed Andy Serkis's short portrayal of him. Even used a bit of the Emperor's theme during his scene with Rey.
I think TFA will be one of those movies that doesn't age well/hold up over time, same could be for me if I rewatch it again that I start to like it less than I did 5 years ago
You put it so well. I think i like rise of skywalker more than you though but like you said im not much of a comic fan. But yes overall the past 5 movies have been a great success in my opinion, just a couple of little things could have been better. Its sorta like the prequels excluding phantom menace (because that had one BIG problem i shall not mention)
Here's a crazy idea, maybe DON'T announce movies, and writers and directors for those movies until you are confident that things are going as you would like. That's one of the big things I notice when looking back at the movie news. These people are in Star Wars to do a thing we can't tell you about because it hasn't even been started! :Within the next year: These people are leaving Star Wars and we're sad to see them go. How about you just meet in secret, sign your NDAs, plan out your movie, and then when it's time to start shooting, announce the movie and the director(s) and writer(s). Everyone was super excited for Solo when it was Lord and Miller, and while people were happy to see Ron Howard come in, it sounds like they had to reshoot nearly everything. I know this example already had them shooting the movie and yeah, if things are that rough, then I guess it's too late and the cat is out of the bag, but I imagine that things had to have been a bit rough from the start only for it to finally come to a head in the middle of shooting. Josh Trank was planned to make some sort of Boba Fett/Bounty Hunter movie, and thankfully, everyone knows he's a crazy man after all that stuff with Fant4stic, but still, maybe don't have him announced to do anything in the first place until you really have everything nailed down. Benioff and Weiss were announced to be making a series of movies and now they're not within months. Maybe don't announce anything until they have a script and are ready to begin shooting. Now a bunch of people are super bummed because they don't get their Game of Thrones in Star Wars except for me since I never watched Game of Thrones and I had nothing to look forward to because nothing ever got off the ground at Lucasfilm to begin with. Rian Johnson was announced to have a trilogy in the works before The Last Jedi was even close to release. While I applaud Lucasfilm for their faith in him, ever since the movie came out, we haven't heard anything about the progression of that trilogy. On the one hand, that's good because it means people are actually thinking about what they're doing and aren't getting ahead of themselves, but on the other, would fans have been receptive to the idea at all after the movie came out and split the fanbase's spirit to the bone? Since we now know of it, we now want to know about it, and since nothing has come from it in the past two years, people actually think it's been cancelled, except I don't think that's ever officially been denied either. On top of that, there's supposed to be a new Star Wars movie every year from 2021 to 2026, alternating in year between someone's trilogy (maybe Rian Johnson) and someone else's series of movies by people who are no longer working with Lucasfilm. I mean, holy crap, Disney did that same thing the second they bought Lucasfilm by saying they were making VII, VIII, and IX along with anthology movies before they were ever even conceptualized, and while I'm not saying George's ideas were going to be the best, at least there was an outline, but it was thrown aside. Everyone just needs to chill out, write good stories, find people to direct those stories, see how everyone gels, and then make announcements, not the other way around. NDAs exist for a reason, and they're easier to adhere to if the world doesn't know that a Star War is in the works and you're part of it, or were part of it. But other than that, yeah man, the movies of Phase One were overall a success, but they did have the potential to be better.
I find nothing wrong with this sequel trilogy. As a Star Wars fan of 42+ years, it all makes sense in my mind. it’s very difficult to listen to you right now, Alex. heheh. You’ve always been so upbeat about Star Wars. I’m so sorry and sad that you have so many problems with Rise of Skywalker and now this whole sequel trilogy. It’s really not as disjointed as you see it. Something inside you broke or something and you are no longer looking at it with that Star Wars fan lense that so many of us still have. heheh When I’m watching your videos of late, I’m wishing I were sitting next to you to further discuss what you see that is different than what I see when watching these films. It’s like we were on the same page and enjoyed the same things for years, but then one movie and all the sudden we are entirely on the opposite ends of the spectrum. It’s so fascinating and I really wish I were sitting there next to you to discuss. I honor and respect your options on these matters and would love to get to know the in-depth reasons why things seemed to have changed for you because of Rise of Skywalker. I’ve gone 6 times and still plan to go back for more viewings cause I love it so much. I went 23 times to Force Awakens, and maybe 4-5 times for Last Jedi, but this Rise -it might be another 20 view movie for me. I like it that much and that’s why it baffles me so that you just didn’t like it that much. heheh eh well, I just have to have that hope in my heart that you will watch it a few more times and then see what I see and come around to appreciating the film. I have to have that faith. heheh Have a great day, my fellow friend in the Force!
Do you think that Star Wars Legends and Star Wars Canon should be combined to Great one single Star Wars Cronology (By after events of the Star Wars legacy Era after the Events of Star Wars Episode 9 The Rise of Skywalker) and after that Combining them with the Evetns of The Star Fox Videogames Saga and The Star Fox Commic "Beloved Falco" of 2002?
If Disney had not jumped to make the sequel trilogy right after their purchase of LucasFilm, we never would have had Leia back in the universe.
Drace90 very true never thought about that. Carrie would probably have been still alive to make Ep 7 but not 8 or 9.
well, if TFA and TLJ were never made, Carrie probably would have been with us still, events would have been different, it's all a following of events really, we'll never know
Thomas Volsin I highly doubt the existence of those two movies contributed to it
@@thomasvolsin2422 ...You are not seriously arguing that the sequels killed Carrie, right?
Thomas Volsin really?? are you kidding me! So it’s the sequels felt Carrie died now. 🙄 you can’t be serious.
And as we move forward and we get more content that is not as closely linked to the Skywalker saga, it will potentially attract even more people
Albano Moreno
Brand in decline? Its Star Wars...the brand is doing fine...
We need a main character that isn’t human, after this is Star Wars with world building so big it’s crazy they haven’t done it yet
I agree, doesn’t have to be the more strange aliens but a humanoid one will be fine with me
Let’s get a Shaak Ti anthology film following her through the Clone Wars
ThrawnCaedus L Ah yes, and her 7 deaths
Ahsoka is such a no brainer as a lead for a movie
I always wanted that
Honestly and I really enjoyed the Sequel Trilogy, but I feel like the TV Show format is the best format for Star Wars. Give me 5 episodes of Mandalorian quality tv over a new movie anyday. Now that TV is on the same level of Cinema, the possibilities are endless.
Im crazy hyped for Cassian and Kenobi after the first season of Mando.
When will the Cassian Andor show come out? And when will it take place? During the clone wars when he supported the separatists?
Hopefully they put more money in to season 2 of The Mandalorian. It's pretty great but it's definitely has some budget constraints. Some of the acting of the lesser characters is pretty cringey.
Major Zuma i hate tv show format. It makes it impossible to rewatch. You can rewatch Star Wars movies every year or few. But once the Mandolorian gets over 3 seasons. I cant rewatch all that shit. Movies are better.
Totally agree.
As much as I liked the ST, I can't help but fathom how much potential was wasted in it
Watching the opening credits for _The Force Awakens_ is one of my favourite cinema memories. I don't have children, but I hope by the time I do, Lucasfilm is still putting out new films.
who’s ready for the supposed “High Republic Era”
Assuming Jason is right then I don't know how to feel about that.
Mehhhh
So ready. I love how it’s barely been touched before. Eventually full Old Republic would be cool too, but this allows them to try something really fresh and unique.
Claudia Gray, Charles Soule and, Cavan Scott leading the charge on fresh new Star Wars stories?
Yes, please, sign me up.
If it's true, then absolutely. I'm trying to remain skeptical until the announcement, though. Just to keep expectations in check.
I just really hope they've learned all the right lessons from their mistakes so far. I've enjoyed all of Disney Star Wars thus far but it's hard to deny things could've been better.
Steven Bell considering how good the Marvel Cinematic Universe is doing I think it has more to do with LucasFilm than Disney
Unpopular opinion: There is no bad star wars movie. They are all good movies. Some better than others yes, but they are all great movies.
I loved 'Rogue One'
I liked 'The Force Awakens'
I liked 'The Rise of Skywalker'
I thought 'Solo' was okay
I do not like 'The Last Jedi'
I agree 100% that internet culture had an affect on the movies. Hopefully we'll get a good cohesive story in the future that has its own vision and damn what people/politics there are at the time. That's the only way to make good Star Wars. I believe the Mandalorian shows us 'the way'.
I loved rogue one
I loved the last jedi
Solo was fine
Force awakens was meh
I hated Rise of skywalker

I'm not sure if this counts as a spoiler
pamelam4 not really.
I love that point of view!
Poe being a spice runner has already been answered. When Poe's mother died in his teen years, he went through a rebellious phase and became a spice runner before realizing what he was doing was wrong and joining the New Republic Navy.
Meaning he joined them BEFORE the Resistance, yes.
@@chrissonofpear1384 Yeah exactly. I just see this point being brought up a lot as not making sense, when it does to me
Poe could have been undercover as a spice runner as part of a mission for the New Republic or the Resistance.
That's really great idea for a prequel novel to TFA or something like that
And I think they opened a lot of good stories to be told.
We see a lot of missions like this on rebels.
The Visual Guide said he ran away from home aged 16, and came back within 5 years.
Me too! That's what I loved about The Mandalorian! They did not have any connections to the Skywalker story.
@@DarthRelkew Baby Yoda. The Empire.
I saw an interview with JJ where he said he had Pablo Hidalgo on speed dial to make sure he didn't make any goofs while writing Rise of Skywalker, but having seen the movie I feel like maybe that was a tangled web of lies.
Cory Stanish Pablo Hidalgo said that Palpatine had no offspring...so yes JJ just did his own thing.
Dude wut?
Hidalgo is just a guy who goes over already established canon. I’m no where does it say you can go and add things later. I’m eager to know when and how Palpatine had a son. I’m willing to bet it’s a clone of himself who didn’t turn out the way he wanted.
Fire the story group. What did they even do?
Doesn't matter what you say on your channel, I will usually apreciate how respectful and non-judgemental you are about the canon. You don't say things like "that is trash" or "it ruined everything", even to the things you do not like. That is a very mature way of seeing thing since, you know, they are just movies, entertainment. I'm really angry with the youtube channels that trash on thing and make a shitshow out of thing they don't like, because even I, a hardcore Star Wars fan who watches and reads every Star Wars thing, even the ones I dislike, even I see it just as fun, and the backlash and hatred that I've seen going on with Star Wars talkabouters is frustrating, and even annoying.
i loved them all as i love all of star wars
also are the clone wars rewatch coming back
Yep!
I think that Jedi: Fallen Order is the best Star Wars game of the last decade although... even though it is great, it didn't have much to compete against in terms of quality. The last good Star Wars game beforehand was Force Unleashed 1.
Haha. Good one.
@@jakunosek seriously though, what have we had between the two (excluding mobile games)?
The Force Unleashed 2
Star Wars: The Old Republic
EA Battlefront
Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
EA Battlefront 2
Actually, SWTOR grew to be pretty good after a rough start.
@@EyeOfMagnus4E201 yeah but compare the list to the amount of high quality Star Wars games from the 2000s: the Jedi Knight games, KOTOR, Battlefront 1/2, Republic Commando, The Force Unleashed, etc
@@Jedi_Spartan You forgot LEGO Star Wars III Clone Wars and Republic Heroes. The latter wasn't any good though
A lot of wasted potential 😔
Phase 2 Old Republic and more Dark Siders the Sith Lords I want to see are...
Darth Bane
Darth Revan
Darth Nihilus
Darth Malgus
Darth Tenebrous
Darth Plagueis
What do you mean stories about Darth Plaguies haven't you heard of the tragedy of Darth Plaguies the wise?
Will Crosby yeah but I want to see more and know more
I do but i also don’t want them to ruin them as I already love their stories
Alex I completely agree. I think Star Wars stories will start being less controversial because these new stories won't have 40 years of baggage behind them.
Spice running teen/young adult turned New Republic pilot turned Resistance ace
Exactly. His mother died and he went through a rebellious phase.
Makes sense to me. Still was one of my favorite parts of the movie.
So, No one told me that there's a "High Republic Era" on the Horizon with the Skywalker storyline "unofficially" coming to a close
Poe ran away from home with 16 and became a smuggler for like 2 or 3 years. It still fits in the Canon
I smell like there's a story for a comic run or a novel in there.
Rjkz ,bkfy 'Poe drug adventures'
Still smells like Pablo Hidalgo facpoving the gaps left in TROS
@@Creddiam bro this is a star wars movie right 😂
@@EdoItachiAnbu fair :P
For me
3. I give it a 7/10
Of this era of movies I rate them
1. Rogue One 9/10
2. The Rise of Skywalker 7/10
3. The Last Jedi 7/10
4. The Force Awakens 6/10
Zay && Shriv Weren’t In The Movie 😔
Another missed opportunity for the ST 😔
Hey I'm glad to say that I enjoyed literally every single Star Wars movie ! 😂
Exactly in my opinion there isnt a bad star wars movie.
Pac Pac me too! I love them all, especially the new ones!
Me too!!!
Me too
Glad I’m not alone out there, SW is just awesome 😍
I think you're mistaken about a few "retcons" or "errors" in the film that you've brought up here and in a few other videos. *Spoiler warning.*
I'm sure we'll get a novel or a comic book exploring this younger Poe, if not a whole TV show titled something like "Spice Runners."
Anyway, just wanted to pop in there with this. I love your show in general, just had a few thoughts here, really not trying to be negative. :) Thanks for the take on Phase 1!
I loved TFA
I liked R1
I loved TLJ
I liked Solo
I loved TROS
Star Wars is pretty cool
I liked TFA, loved R1, disappointed and underwhelmed by TLJ, never bothered with Solo, and liked/disliked TROS at the same time
Blockbuster Edits For me it’s the same except that I’m right between like/love for TROS!
Force Awakens is pretty good,
Rogue One is great,
The Last Jedi is not my favorite but has good parts,
Solo is great,
And The Rise of Skywalker was great, that’s my personal opinion on them at least
100% agree with everything! They need a plan. New stories and new characters from different time periods (old republic!), better coordination with the Lucasarts story group. Let’s hope for the best for the future of Star Wars!
Good to see I am not the only one who is slightly irritated about the continuity issues. Thanks for the awesome videos!
The whole Zori Bliss / Spice Smuggling thing is clarified in the Visual Dictionary.
Except for kind of going against her 'you ran away to join the Resistance' line, which we now must take as somewhat inaccurate, timing wise.
@@chrissonofpear1384 Spice does things to your memory I guess?
That being said, here’s what I thought of each Disney canon film:
The Force Awakens - loved it
Rogue One - loved it
The Last Jedi - liked it
Solo - it was okay
The Rise of Skywalker - liked it
5:33 *cough* Luke and Leia’s “awkward moment” *cough*
Exactly. Original trilogy was just as contrived as the Sequel Trilogy. Change my mind.
Zeroghost11 I think the prequels are definitely the most consistent, since it’s going in a clear direction
Revan's saga is all we need, still grateful for the Skywalker saga
nah, revan have too much lore so nobody will be satisfied with an movie who will chance or contradict the game or comics. keep him as an background mistic character and focus on tarre and bane who have few to almost none lore
We could do a trilogy on his story
@@lineevilasio but he's the best jedi/sith ever dude, maybe Disney could do something in Star Wars like what they did in MCU.
Evi Taumaturgo true
Meeting you at DragonCon in your party Biggs cosplay was amazing! Still can't believe that happened! 2017 was a great Star Wars year for me.
This is a genuine question out of curiosity, I’m 23 and I’ve never read the legends stuff but I do love the new books and canon stuff. What makes the old republic era so great?? Is it because there’s more Jedi and Sith around or am I missing something?
Alex you freaking legend, It is really clear how much you love this franchise. You gave me a lot of hipe for future films.
@@teejaybricks3603 Ren explicitly stated he never lied to her
Travisman Games ...which is a lie
@@teejaybricks3603 Jammu?
Optillian he meant Jakku
"Rey Paplpatine? That choice just no longer felt natural to me."
The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some would call...unnatural.
As a huge fan of TLJ and as someone who didn’t enjoy TFA, I hope that Rian gets his trilogy and it is very successful.
farik23 Nope, nope, nope. I’m staying home for that trilogy.
I will forgive Disney for everything if they make a trilogy all about my boi Klaud
BattleUp Saber actually he died offscreen in tros
Just kidding mate i am sure he will get it
Klaud: A Star Wars Story
Klaud is not your “boi”.
The last jedi is my favourite SW movie with ROTS and ESB. But in the end I liked all of them; I think they are all superior to the standard of the blockbusters (superhero movies and other stuff). TROS is a good adventure movie and Ben is one of the best characters of the entire universe.
ESB, ROTS, and TLJ are my favorites also! Totally agree!
Now that we're getting a break from the films will you and Mollie be continuing your Journey through Star Wars Legends?
Hope not 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤧
I hope so
@@liamanthonyrookyard4869 bruh Kotor and I know it isn't necessarily the most well written era but the legacy era is really fascinating to people like me

Love this lookback. Rejoice for those moments that transform your excitement of Star Wars.
Excited for the future of Star Wars!!!! Old republic here we gooo!!!!!!!
Star Wars: Rogue One (2016) and Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) are the greatest sci-fi blockbuster movies ever from 20th Century-Fox and Lucasfilm Ltd.
Can you make a video how star wars look like when sith and imperial fight in the same army
I'm just sitting here, nodding the whole time because I agree with just about everything you're saying! I'm excited for the future of Star Wars and your channel :)
Am I the only one who wasn't blown away by Babu Frik?
He was the best part of the movie
honestly I preferred D-0
Hikaro I was not. His voice was too cartoonish and i don’t particularly like his appearance
That was Han's medal.
Loved force awakens
Loved rogue one
Like last jedi
Loved solo
Loved rise of Skywalker
Haven't got much to add regarding thoughts on the last five years, basically because I agree with pretty much everything you said in your video and can't think of much to add :)
I'm very interested (and perhaps a little apprehensive) to see how audiences respond to Star Wars as it moves away from the original characters / movies.
Is that boxed set in the bottom right the William Shakespeare's Star Wars series by Ian Doescher? Looks like that design style but I'm not sure.
I'm of the opinion that working with the story group should be mandatory. Their purpose is to minimise contradiction and by pretty deliberately ignoring them it creates problems.
JJ: Poe is a former criminal, Like Han Solo
Story Group: No... He's a former member of the new republic.
JJ: The Sith have these pyramidy things called wayfinders
Story Group: Holocron JJ, you could use holocrons.
JJ: Look Chewie Got His Medal
Story Group: He Already had one, we just don't see it in the movies. But whatever we can explain that one as it being Han's Medal.
JJ: Exogal. Spooky Sith Home World
Story Group: Korriban...
Great video. Well thought out and articulated. Cheers.
Just a thought but In the legends comics boba fett had a daughter and a wife, is it possible that we could see his daughter in season two of the mandalorian? If you don’t know what I’m talking about just look up Ailyn Vel on google or Wookieepedia
She is a legends character, so I wouldn't expect so, but The Mandalorian has been dabbling in legends territory as well, so it's possible.
SubHumanTorch true 👍🏽
A lack of a plan is the Star Wars way. The Original trilogy had a lack of a plan and enjoyed that nod to the old films.
The success of the original trilogy was a fluke. A perfect storm of circumstances, of which The Empire Strikes Back is the lynchpin. Creating the original trilogy was "Great shot kid! That was one in a million", not a blueprint for future success.
@@S0HJIN plus they had the huge benefit of not having to adhere to any kind of canon since they were pretty much building it
Bendemption is my absolute favorite of this phase.
Hello, new here but is that a photo of you and Donald Fasion doing the eagle???
I definitely agree with what you said in regards to inconsistencies in TROS. While many of them can be "explained away" like with the Visual Dictionary, the problem is the intent of the instance. It felt like the *intent* was to say "Poe was a spice runner and then joined the Resistance" rather than just having Zorri skip some steps in her story. It felt like the *intent* of Chewie being given Han's medal was "Chewie finally got his medal!" instead of "This was Han's (and Leia's) medal, and now it belongs to you in remembrance" and that is what doesn't sit well with me.
Where did you get that t-shirt?
I liked Solo and Rogue One. Didn’t like the TFA or TLJ. Somewhat enjoyed TROS.
As someone who lived through the batshit crazy years of the Expanded Universe, I don't understand all the complaining about minor things in this video. Still gets a thumbs up though. :)
@Stephen Jenkins I don't see how a small inconsistency with Poe, which has now been recitifed, can overshadow something like Luuke and Luuuke...
@Stephen Jenkins If you don't want hear about the cringy stuff in legends then there's no discussion to be had.

We'll most likely go back 1000's of years prior to the Skywalker saga.
400 years is the rumour, to the ‘high republic’ era
I have a video request from you can I ask you to make a video about where do you see Star Wars episode 9 rise of the Skywalker and where do you see where it will be just by the canon just by the movies? I hope that you get a chance to make a timeline just based from the movies as for the TV cartoons is just based from the Star Wars legends and Star Wars novelizations that’s all they are
Just a little hint about that but I would like to see if you would not mind making a video or request from me I am asking you to make a video about how to play the Star Wars movies in order without using legends and novelizations of Star Wars
I hope that you were going to do that because I want to know of how you feel about the overall timeline
I agree completely, although I love Solo.
Something inside you broke or something and you are no longer looking at it with that Star Wars fan lense that so many of us still have. heheh
When I’m watching your videos of late, I’m wishing I were sitting next to you to further discuss what you see that is different than what I see when watching these films.
I like it that much and that’s why it baffles me so that you just didn’t like it that much. heheh
eh well, I just have to have that hope in my heart that you will watch it a few more times and then see what I see and come around to appreciating the film. I have to have that faith. heheh
Have a great day, my fellow friend in the Force!
totally agree the sequel trilogy I enjoyed but you can tell that it lacked a clear direction and hopefully Disney will learn from this past 5 years
