  • Hey! I've compiled every song that "Haken" has referenced or reprized in their discography. This goes from their debut album "Aquarius" until their 2020 album "Virus" Their newest album "Fauna" didn't contain any references or reprisals of any prior material that I could hear. I have one more of this type of video that I am currently working on and it's for Dream Theater. Let me know what other bands you'd like to see!

    I feel like when they are within the same album (at least with both Aquarius and Visions), it's a little different because they are concept albums that tell a story so recurring themes and motifs have a purpose outside of "hey that's a reference"

    "Sempiternal Beings" contains a direct quote from "Puzzle Box"!
    th-cam.com/video/jJULV7fvqzI/w-d-xo.html
    3:08, "Stoned by her gaze"
    th-cam.com/video/2oCD4Wk1bwo/w-d-xo.html
    0:32, "navigate through my cave"
    I also think Visions has many more than you found; I know of at least a few, but that album is so motivic, you could probably find a reasonable way to link every song.
    Thanks for the video! I didn't catch at least half of these and will definitely need to revisit :)

      That's a coincidence. Composers always have similar melodies, it's part of their identity.

    • @Deathyman
      @Deathyman 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@terr4c0 bro, we are on a 15+ minute video of coincidences. That's just the most obvious one on fauna I didn't have to look for. If you want to talk about themes then we can talk about themes.
      Elephants never forget, the part where the guy is introducing elephant man. That's obviously a stylistic reference to Cockroach King and likely a reference to their style from their EP(before the remaster crystalize), gives a bit of the vibe from Celestial Elixir. They sound similar not the same. This stylistic choice is different from using the same melody and rhythm just the notes are longer such as palace in the clouds. It can't be compared to multiple stylistic choices the band has made in the past but it can be tied to a very specific melody in very specific songs.

      @@Deathyman Not so related but that intro to The Elephant Man is pretty much a direct reference to Gentle Giant's singing style, Proclamation: th-cam.com/video/CKPmXcWXHTU/w-d-xo.html and Cogs in Cogs: th-cam.com/video/WF-bLBMqIHY/w-d-xo.html to name a few. Not to mention Haken's style (and many others) are quite inspired by them. Good listens, would recommend👍
