The qualification rounds happen before the big battle (this year on Wednesday in another hall). There each player has 1 minute to do their combos and receives points divided into creativity, difficulty, cleanliness and stage presence from the 5 jury member. The 12 players with the highest scores automatically go into the final. People ranked 13th to 20th must fight against each other (the same way as here, 2 rounds of 30 seconds each) to earn their spot in the final 16 players. The battles are generated randomly, which is always very exciting and a good source of surprise. During the final 16 battles the judges vote by feeling and with good knowledge of what tricks are common and which ones are more creative/difficult/original, but they don't have to use the point system, that way voting is quicker. Is there some kind of scoring system or is it purely about the crouds votes?
There were five judges. They have their criteria I guess but nothing was explained.
