    The bow might be cute in a coordinating color of satin wide ribbon. Love the video!

      I didn’t think of a wide satin bow. That would lie flatter than the fleece one I made 🤣 thanks for watching

    Love the pattern :) these look really comfy and cute. I still need to wrap my head around the whole concept of adding ease and understand why this isn't included in the pattern to begin with. Nothing like a good pair of pj's though. i definitely will try!

      Ease is the looseness that’s built into the pattern. The amount varies by the design. Think about how a shift dress fits versus a sweatshirt. That’s ease. The ease on this pattern isn’t printed on the individual pieces, which is why I measured between the seam allowances at the waist and hip points to figure out which size to make based on how loose I wanted my pjs to be.

    Did not know there is such a thing as a fleece needle. I have to look at this before I start my fleece sweatshirt project in case it will be more advantageous to have it on my machine.

    This morning I was speeding through cutting out a new knit top, thinking, woohoo, this’ll be fast one! And then it all ground to a halt when I went to set up my coverstitch machine, which is MUCH fussier than my vintage machines and my 30 year old serger. I like it for hemming knits (when it cooperates), but dang if I don’t sometimes regret buying it. I discovered Eloflex thread after I bought it. I’d have left the bow off the pants as well. Didn’t really add anything and had no purpose. I’d have added pockets though, but that wouldn’t have worked with the time crunch. I hope you had a lovely holiday, Toni!

    • @SewSewLounge
      @SewSewLounge  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought Eloflex thread would be a life saver, but my sewing machine HATES IT!! For some reason she only wants to sewing with Coats regular all purpose thread 😂 I did have a good Thanksgiving and I hope that you did too!

      It’s an Arrow sewing cabinet. Unfortunately I don’t think they make this model anymore. Which is a total shame because it’s a great design!

    I think you made the 1hr time limit because you were also trying to explain things and film the process. So I bet if you didn’t have to do any of that it would have taken you less than an hour to sew it up. Great job! I’m a very slow sewist so it takes me at least 1.5 times as long to make anything.

    • @SewSewLounge

  • @normacooper6377

    Why didn’t you use a stretch stitch since you’re using more of a stretchy fabric? Just curious about whether the stitches might pop in some seams during wear. Also wondering if you could make the pj pants with just a serger? I think some people have suggested doing this. I use alligator clamps or forceps to feed elastics. Might be useful for you next time? Yeah, I agree about the tie. Not a fan of those for myself.🤭

    • @SewSewLounge
      @SewSewLounge  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t have a reason for not using a stretch stitch; honestly I never think about it. Since fleece is thicker I just use a longer stitch length and that’s worked fine. I’ve worn and washed them several times and everything is holding together. I’m sure they could also be sewn with a serger just as easily. I just got a new serger and I’ll use it if I make these again ☺️

    Great job! Did you have to make alterations to your crotch seam???

    • @SewSewLounge
      @SewSewLounge  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you Cynthia! If I made them again I would skip the second row of stitching between the notches and NOT trim that seam. Having done both in these pjs created a weird seam that stands up instead of lying flat. Pressing helped the problem, but I need to take down that seam in the crotch area. Otherwise no alterations were made to the seam in the pattern.

    Good job. Typically, I don't like using unisex patterns. I feel that the pattern pieces can not accommodate both the female and the male silhouette well enough in one pattern without sacrificing the women's fit.

    • @SewSewLounge
      @SewSewLounge  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would agree! According to the pattern sizing on the envelope, it said large and I knew that had to be wrong. Glad I measured each piece to determine the ACTUAL size. I don’t think the unisex sizing made much difference in the pants; it might be more noticeable in the tops.

    I don't actually sleep in my fleece pajama bottoms, way too warm. I do sleep in my fleece pajama top because I don't get to pull my covers up since my dog, who's partly deaf, is laying on them.and my husband is usually pulling the covers to his side trying to combat the dog who is right between us. And yes, it's gotten cold here in Texas and I wish the north, and especially Colorado would keep their weather to themselves😄

    • @SewSewLounge
      @SewSewLounge  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The struggle is real! 😂 I usually wear pj bottoms once I get up on cold mornings. I think we are getting a break from the cold (at least in Houston); it’s going to be 78 today!

    Howdy from Texas,, found your channel and love pj pant but hardly do plus size ?

    • @SewSewLounge
      @SewSewLounge  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Margaret! I primarily sew clothing for myself to create a unique wardrobe. Most of the tips and techniques I share on my channel apply to any size pattern. Some of the patterns I use have plus sized versions as well; but not sure about the pjs. My suggestion would be to take your measurements and then measure the pattern pieces to see if it would work. And yes, I occasionally unfold patterns at Joann’s to measure the ease when it’s not listed on the pieces 🤣

  • @zoeclearwater
    @zoeclearwater 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You had to add the ease ? 😮that throws out the 1 hr time right there . I wash , iron , cut ? That already takes me hrs lol

    • @SewSewLounge
      @SewSewLounge  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t have to add any ease. I just had to measure the pattern pieces to figure out which size to make since the finished measurements weren’t printed on the pattern. Glad I did because the small fits perfectly! The one hour is the sewing time; that’s why I start with everything cut out and ready to go 😉
