We often forget that Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish are extremely different languages, so this is yet another language in which he can sing. Amazing. This sounds like a powerful anthem, probably due to the drums. (I think when he mixed it, the drums were overpowering.) I totally understand what you mean by the musicality not matching, and that could be because you actually understood the lyrics. The rest of us were wondering if we should be donning our battle gear again.😅

It's about turning a song (about pirates and the ship in this one) into a power metal song. Thus the power metal instrumental. It may not be a battle song, but Dan created a song of power.

It is a set-to-music poem, lyrics by José de Espronceda in 1876.
The poem describes a pirate ship with ten cannons on each side. The fearless captain, proud of his ship and freedom, sails across the seas, challenging enemies and storms. He boasts of capturing prizes, defying kings for more land, and cherishing the sea as his only homeland. The captain faces death with laughter, finding solace in the music of the North Winds and the sea's lullaby. Throughout, the recurring theme emphasizes the ship as a treasure, freedom as a god, and the sea as the sole homeland.
