I have the "Sting: Return of an Icon" disc, and on it he said that when he saw what Rock said to Booker T "Who in the Blue Hell are you?" Funny moment to the fans but to Sting, he said Rock saying that was enough to bury anyone in that moment and he didn't trust how he'd be used.

I thought it was Chris Jericho because The Rock said who the hell are you. I mean they could have done better work not mentioning WCW. I thought Sting said it was disrespectful to act like he didn’t know who he was when WCW beat them for 83 weeks so it was dumb to act like he didn’t know who he was on TV. Which makes sense WCW mentioned WWF on air or made reference to them. Of course it did help WWF win in the end because after that WCW did get out of control

The fact that WWE didn’t have an epic storyline involving Sting and the Undertaker will forever be one of the biggest fuckups in wrestling history. Both are legends, both were loyal to their company during the overwhelming majority of their careers, and both are known as being two of the hardest working wrestlers in the business. There could have been such a good angle and I could even see a badass retirement angle being thrown in there. It’s just such a shame that WWE has yet again allowed a potential barnburning match to slip through the cracks.

    • @azraelknightquest5754

What Vince McMahon should have done is talk to Sting and BEG HIM to come to WWE with a contract that put him and ONLY STING as the ONLY MAN to break the streak, with an INCREDIBLE trilogy of matches between Sting and Undertaker. A short, 1 year contract that revolved around making Undertaker the World Heavyweight Champion and then Sting breaking the streak to be the World Heavyweight Champion. And Vince should have offered Sting TRIPLE whatever he originally offered, along with signing over his private jet and a year's worth of paid fuel for the private jet. Vince should have been DESPERATE to get Sting, because he would have sold SO MANY TICKETS of Sting vs Undertaker, followed by Sting vs The Rock (Scorpion Deathlock vs the Rock's Sharpshooter), Sting vs SCSA (Scorpion Death Drop vs the Stone Cold Stunner), Sting vs Kane (wanting to avenge 'Taker). And Sting's last few matches should have been WWE deciding to go to Japan and BUY the Great Muta and finish with Great Muta vs Sting.

At the age of both men at the time, you’d have to be stupid to think that this was a good idea anymore. It was a dream match in 1998 that gradually spiraled out of control with internet narrative and went on way too long. It was no longer a dream match in 2014 when both men were breaking down. Look no further than Undertaker Vs Goldberg where Undertaker’s neck nearly snapped in half. The fact that Sting Vs Taker didn’t happen during Sting’s WWE run is a blessing for both men and us as fans. Get over the sentimental nonsense.

No WE, as in the fans got screwed (as usual from WWE), but Sting got paid a lot of money to essentially come in at the end of his career, when he didn't have anything left. He knew what they would do, which is why he waited long enough to where it didn't matter. I mean you gotta take the money if you can, that is the name of the game, but he did it in the best way actually for himself and in a round about way for us, the fans. It would have royally pissed me off to see them bury the WCW standard bearer in a failed, half-hearted invasion angle, when it still mattered.

Sting's worst nightmares came true, when he went to WWE. He knew how they'd treat him, similarly to how Vince treated WCW stars in the early 2000s when the Invasion angle happened. Wrestlers like Buff Bagwell got tossed like garbage, Kronik wasn't taken seriously and got smashed by Undertaker/Kane, DDP was made into a stalker gimmick with only mild success. Other wrestlers like Booker T and Ric Flair barely got by and got treated differently. Goldberg had some success, although he was there just to be fed in a HHH feud, same fate as Scott Steiner as well though by that point, Scott was kinda limited anyways.
But Sting, out of all of them and knowing his caliber as a talent, was utterly disrespectful. He was another who was fed to HHH and to feed Vince's desire to just strike down on the corpse of WCW's spirit one more time. You knew that when he got the NWO and DX involved. Sting was never involved with the NWO back then, wasn't a member (except wolfpack but that was it's own stable). You just knew things were off and knew how things were going to play out. The cherry on that shit cake was when Sting got bucklebombed into a corner, suffered whiplash and forced to retire. Yeah it was really underwhelming.
For the millionth time, should've just had Undertaker vs Sting to get that out of the way, at the time. Who's the one to go over though? Who cares? They've both done staggering accolades in their careers, where neither has anything to gain or lose, they cancel eachother out.

The severely overpushed HHH struck again. I do like HHH, great mic skills, worked well alongside Rock and Austin, but always found him slow and predictable to watch in the ring and would have been boring without those guys. You can include HBK, Booker T and Sting there too as main eventers that were more entertaining than HHH. Just my opinion. I found all those others more entertaining to watch when it came to the actual matches. I put his extra push of beating so many legends down to eventually being in the Mcmahon family. But I know nothing.

The only reason I signed up for WWE Network was to watch Sting win on that Wrestlemania. If there was one thing I *KNEW,* it was that there was no way Vince & Hunter would put in alllllll that effort & money to FINALLY recruit Sting, just to have him lose.
When it happened, I honestly couldn't believe it. They tried to make it appear as though they were lessening the blow by having HHH use weapons/outside help, but then they ruined that by having Sting do it as well, leading to him basically losing "clean" in a roundabout way.
And the injury was just salt in the wounds... No chance to redeem his run (even though I suspect he wanted to work with Rollins to help put him over & build him up even more), & just a Wrestlemania loss to his name. Definitely stopped caring about WWE after that point.
