“Steel is steel” Ok, I can dispel this theory easily. I worked as a fabricator in a steel supply yard for 5 years. The company usually purchase USA/Canada or SSAB German or Swiss steel. Average price at the time was $0.80 a lb One day a load of Chinese steel came in, it was $0.40 a lb. It look just like the USA steel we had on the ground, all the certification stated it was “A36” structural steel. In a matter of 2 weeks it rusted up like it had been on the ocean floor for 10 years. When I cut it on the plasma table it stunk like a dumpster fire. The steel was full of contaminants, the plasma arch would splatter like there was air pockets. The owner of the company came down to the shop- look at the head of operations and said “get this dog shit off my fucking property and make sure it’s all scrapped-“ Turn out Chinese and Russian steel almost never meets certification. They just pull out the stamp for what ever grade you’re looking to buy and suddenly it’s “a36” or “AR500” So no- Chinese steel is not same/same.
Last year my uncle who works at a port/dock in Tampico México, told me that the boats were bringing in bad chinese steel and taking out whatever steel was here in México.
The thing is, if it's the harbor freight model that's about 80-90$ there are some gun manufacturers that relabel them with their name on it and charge double the price.

You'd better lag bolt those to the floor before someone gets injured. One day, that metal will deflect and when they do those unsecured posts will kick out and you'll have a catastrophic failure. Remember that load rating is subjective, unless proven by an actual testing agency. Any manufacturer can claim load ratings, based on the numbers that their designers and engineers crunch, but those are mostly SWAGs. They'll claim things are MIL-spec or meet certain operational characteristics, but those are subjective (and often made up) and not really policed by any authority--it's whatever the manufacturer wants to claim. In addition, does that load rating also include at least a 50% overload window to account for accidentally placing a vehicle too heavy on it or if there is some type of seismic event or load-shifting shock?

Many many many years ago we had an engine hoist I guess the whole thing was from China. The important issue was that the hydraulic cylinder that does the actual lifting was also from China at some point trying to lift an engine it stopped wanting to. Pump up any higher. At least it didn't drop it on us. It was impossible to find rebuild parts for the Chinese cylinder. We ended up having to spend a lot of money kind of equivalent to buying a whole new hoist. Just to get an American made cylinder that has lasted us. I don't know 30 years and 25 engine jobs. Where is the original cylinder failed maybe even on the first lift. I'm guessing there are safety locks once the car is up so at that point it's not much of a concern maybe in 30 years they figured. Out how to make them better. Hopefully minimum quality is enough.

You get what you paid for, and the issue with Chinese knock-offs are seized bearings, oil leaking onto those beautiful exotics, and premature failure. Companies earn their names by their reputation and durability, which over time I suspect you will find out. When things eventually go wrong, reach out to one of the US manufacturers, make a deal, show the differences, and make some more content.
After reading the title and watching. This video went the complete opposite as I first assumed.
“Steel is steel”…….
Ohhh boy, have I got a surprise for you
Yo Rob thx for the information.
Only thing I'd be worried about is the welds... well that and if any thing goes out who you calling to fix it? No ones come touch it.
no trickle chargers? all those cars daily driven or dead?
The US has alot of Tarrifs in my country getting a 2 post is almost 2k and bringing it from China is 1.1K
I can't stress this enough...not all steels are the same, not even close.
I wonder how much would be saved by buying a container load? Get a group buy together. I need one 2 post lift and four 4 post lifts.
idk why but the here's a picture of my Brooklyn Bridge i bought it. had me dieing lmfao 😂 🤣
I agree buy bulk order from China I only have 2 bought USA made Rotary look good in red. Get some storage shelves for the miscellaneous supplies you got will open lot more space
