- Part 2 (of 2) of our trip to Egypt, covering temples on Lake Nasser rescued by UNESCO, but rarely seen by tourists, so we have many of them just to ourselves. Plus we go to the ever popular, and ever immense, Abu Simbel.

Sara, an IT professional & Stephen a graphic designer and artist are world-traveling Canadians who dreamt of moving to Europe, and France in particular. In 2020 they were working from home when Stephen turned to Sara and popped the question she was longing to hear, “What would have to be true for us to buy a chateau in France?” They searched online for months viewing hundreds of properties. They narrowed their search and toured some properties when they happened upon the one that captured our hearts, Château de Saint-Germain-des-Prés. A year later they made the move to France to start their new adventure in our beautiful Château. They created “Manor and Maker” to reflect the two sides of their adventure. One, to live as chateau owners with all the ups and downs and two, to pursue their passions as makers, creating art in all its forms. Thank you to Unesco for their amazing work in saving these treasures for humans to revere in generations to come! I am old enough to remember the worldwide outcry when the Aswan Dam / Lake Nasser were created and cultural riches were going to be drowned. PLUS - stroke of brilliance, renting the Sai Safari for your trip up the Nile, and kudos for hiring Curtis as your own Egyptologist. This enriched your experience immensely, didn't it? I would not know the significance attached to each of the images and carvings ... so enlightening to gain some understanding of these 4000 year old monuments.

it has been so fun to watch all of the different youtube vlogs of the same adventure. Each one has the same characters with different focus, perspectives and tones. Loved them all❣
I have seen many pictures of Abu Simbel but not any video and especially not the inside of it. I got goosebumps! Seriously, goosebumps! As you walked in and looked up with the camera it just made me think of what it would have been like when it was made and how much history has passed by in front of it. I will probably never get to experience it in person so I thank you for making it so real for me at home.
I like the bird noise. I imagined they were little Ba-s flying around! Curtis really planned a trip of a lifetime for you. Really the best way to see Egypt's temples and tombs and monuments.

Beautiful shots and sensitivity towards the art. I loved seeing all the different takes of your trip with your good friends through the other channels incl Chateaux Love version but loved also the detail of the art you showed. I was there in late 80s - late 90s. Thank you. X

Apart from the wonderful ancient temples, you have captured the light in this vlog very well. There was something magical about the light here, the sunsets and early mornings, the contrast of the water with the bare dessert. Fascinating to watch. Steve’s artwork is beautiful. He is so very talented!
So glad you could go on this adventure to the past. I have watched all the videos that all have put on TH-cam and I have enjoyed them but not as much as yours. For some reason I have always been fascinated by ancient Egypt. You have shown such a wonderful and beautiful prospect of the temples that I was hoping to see. It was obvious that both of you really appreciated being there. Your expressions and awe of the paintings that have survived all the thousands of years for the world to learn from and enjoy their beauty. Thank you Sarah and Steve.

Totally a WOW video. I wanted to be an archaeologist as a girl and get to explore these kinds of places, didn't happen, lol. But seeing Egypt through these Chateau videos has been great. All so different. The wind and bird noises just added to the beauty of the filming. So happy you got to see all these places and shared them with all of us. Had to laugh when Steve suggested you needed a Ramses statue in your entry hall. Maybe scaled down just a smidge, lol🤣🤔😉.
Just a smidge 😆 Stephen and I were both bitten by the ancient Egypt bug early on too.

I know exactly what you mean about seeing little known but amazing sights, and seeing famous ones without the crowds.
I visited my oldest niece in Ireland when she was studying abroad. It was the off season, so there were things we didn’t get a chance to see, but we saw the New Grange tomb in a group of 8 (apparently during tourist season it’s often so crowded that you wait all day and only see the replica). We got to peer into every nook and cranny, take photos without other tourists, and simply soak it all in in near solitude. Our time inside had a time limit, but they said we could take another shuttle for our return, so we had the chance to study the outside carvings in total solitude. ♥️♥️♥️
We had a similar experience at Poulnabrone, though in that case we had no guide, and we could explore the remains of Charles Fort completely on our own.
The boat tour was so perfect - no racing to pack in order to get to your next hotel, but no gaudy and impersonal cruise ship either - perfect!
