EL Amaken _ this song _ is just a tip of the iceberg, Mohammed Abdu has so many legendary songs and works, his legacy spans over 50 years of pleasing the hearts and ears of all Arabs and non Arabs.
here are some of his outstanding songs, to me at least, the following songs are my favourite ones, goes without saying that they are masterpieces
1: صوتك يناديني ,your voice is calling me, 26 mins long
2: ليلة خميس ,A Thursday night 9 mins long
3: المعازيم ,guests invited to a wedding or party etc...
All of these songs were released in the early 80s

Thank you for your reaction ! this song is just brocking my heart and bringing back up my only love story from the deepest past, an one direction love of course full of suffering ! every time i hear it i can't stop singing and crying in the same time, it tells exactly the most beautifull and hardest moments of my life with my beloved in many years of expexting the unexpectable love. But still one of the arab music masterpieces and one of the most beautyfull love songs and of course one of my few favorites ones.

I don't think you are able to understand this kind of Arabic music, you have to have grown up in one of the Gulf countries to understand how beautiful it is

  • @kloud8447
    @kloud8447 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

as someone from that region, i daresay some of the lyrics are different from my understanding of the original lines, so i'll attempt to re-translate some of them to at least share some of the sentiments that didn't make it through with the video's translation. again this is simply how i understood the lines. i'm not a translator, nor a linguist. just a local in the arabian gulf region :)
*video:* Whenever you approve of me, i rejoice
*my translation:* See how I fare, ah (a sigh), once the thought of you crosses my mind
it's a line that's like, "you're driving me crazy, oh just look at my state once i think of you, im a mess" sort of thing
*video:* In your absence, every sound entices my feelings
*my translation:* the feelings, in your absence, within it dissolves every sound
to me that means that the feelings of yearning are so overwhelming that they're overpowering other senses like sound. the original translation is technically not wrong but it removes the importance of the usage of "dissolve". the sounds are mixed in with the feelings to become a sort of unrecognizable chaos
*video:* and the nights have tormented the silence within me, after witnessing your torment
this line is a bit misleading in how it's portrayed, but tbh i can't translate it better. the only issue with it is that it lacks the stress that exists in the arabic line. the meaning of the line should be that the lover has been tormented so much, that it instilled silence in him. yet the translation makes it seem like the silence within him was tormented (which makes no sense imho). it's a case of intent being shown by how the singer says the line, rather than by the literal line itself.
*video:* and i fear now that you won't come back to me, and in a second my heart would wither
*my translation:* and now i fear that a moment in which my heart withers might come
that translation was straight-up wrong im afraid lol, but i can understand why someone who's not native to the arabian gulf would misunderstand it. "la" in "la tigeene" here is a weird usage that's native to the region that has a different purpose than a normal "no". it's basically used when you're afraid something is going to happen. idk how to explain it but, that's the best i can manage heh
*video:* that it's not just me, my lover (that yearns for you)
*my translation:* that it's not just my lover
again this line is mistranslated bc of a lack of knowledge of the dialect. in the previous line, he asks the "places" about his lover, but "the past" supposedly replies "it's not just your lover", which feeds back to the chorus that states "all the places yearn for you." this person is so beloved by all, and it's not just the one who sings that miss them, everywhere and everyone misses them too. the translation is not wholly incorrect, it's just weird and i don't like it XD
    cheers !

This song were built on " Saba scale " that called the most sadness scale "Maqam" one of the most sadness Arab scales. even the very very emotional words that talked about how far is hurting lovers and Mohammed Abdu have avery pure voice ,all these reasons gave this song a wide spread at Arab's world.

The musical instrument is called a "oud", and it has several types according to the Arab region. I believe that the oud has weights and number of strings also varies according to the region, and that the oud is larger than the Turkish musical instrument, but both are stringed instruments in the end .. hope it was clear to you, because I don't know mush -in details- about instruments 😄

At 8:15 there is a deep mistake in the translation; it should be [ and I fear that there would be a second come to me my heart would wither ] the fear is about that second not about the lover, afraid of the time that can kill every feeling!
