In the late 80's, when I was probably just 9/10 years of age and went to a show filled with celebrities and thousands of guests. Moin Akhtar was hosting the show, going on stage back n forth rehersing his lines, organzing things back stage and socializing with people front stage. In the midst of all this, I approached Moin Akhtar with my autograph book & a pen. He smiled at me, despite massive show responsibilities upon him. As he was signing my autograph book, my pen failed to write with no ink. He looked at me and smiled, and said I'll wait here if you can get a different pen. I quickly rushed as I knew time was so crucial to him even though he never mentioned it ❤. I borrowed pen from somebody in the crowd and ran back towards Moin Akhtar. So embarrassing it was that the 2nd pen stopped working too. To my shock, Moin Akhtar still smiled and so polite. He patted my shoulder and said, 'It's okay, let me find a pen." He walked around with me through packed crowd of celebrities and borrowed a pen, for me, a child unknown to him, only 10 years of age..... He signed the authograph, patted my head with a nurturing smile. And to this day 35 years later, this memory of Moin Akhtar sahab's great lengths of humbleness is CHERISHED wholeheartedly, filling my heart with pure joy. God bless Moin Sahab's soul. Amazing, pure, genuine he always was ❤ P.S. Junaid Jamshed was another example of humbleness in several other incidents I experienced.... May God bless his soul as well, Ameen.
There can only be one Moin Akhtar. We will never see an artist of his calibre ever again. Humour and grace within the boundaries of decency is very rare nowadays. Even those not born during his era have been introduced to his art through Loose Talk. An artist never dies, they are immortalised through their work.
