    European royalty did not mingle their blood with commoners. They married each other. Therefore, most of their spouses came from German royal houses especially if they needed to be Protestant. The Romanovs married German princesses because they were amenable to converting to Russian orthodoxy. Even King Henry VIII of England had a brief marriage to Anne of Cleves in order to contrive an alliance with a protestant state against papal authority. King Christian IX of Denmark was called the father-in-law of Europe and Queen Victoria of Great Britain was called the grandmother of Europe. Her ancestry was German and so was Prince Albert, the Prince consort.

    The Romanov Family had virtually no Russian blood. 99% German. I'm Slavic and you can tell they do not look Slavic .
