    I think you've gotten a couple things wrong. Bigsbys are a balance system just like any other vibrato system(mechanical ones anyway). Most Steinberger trems use compression springs, Parker used compression springs(not coil, but still compression) in the fly trem, this has very little to do with why Bigbys feel different.
    The main reason is leverage. The strings are wrapping around a tiny rod, which means they move less than most other systems. This limits the range, but it also means it takes less force to move it the same amount.
    The other reason(which is somewhat subtle) is that it moves the string consistently. Bigbys will move the string the same amount per degree of arm movement, while a Fender trem will move it more the further you dive.

    So, in the spirit of this channel (ergonomics).
    Lately, I've been playing on my Jackson RR a lot. I've found that the shorter wing on the bottom is perfect for resting the guitar, creates the perfect playing angle for playing in the classical position, which I prefer.
    I don't know if you've ever played one of those, and knowing you, you might not like the guitar overall 😅.
    But I thought I should mention it anyway.

    The Duesenberg Les Trem II is a great option for Les Pauls, SGs and ES type guitars as long as it has a stop bar and a tail piece. No need to add screws or anything, just swap the tail piece for it and you're good to go!

    • @DimKAt21
      @DimKAt21 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Indeed

    • @jamesc8563
      @jamesc8563 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The spring on a Les Trem gets in the way of your hand if you play near the bridge or palm-mute the treble strings, at least with the usual Gibbo spacing between tailpiece and bridge. I tried one on my LP, took it right off and went with a Bigsby on a Vibramate.
      Edit: Even the Vibramate mount is a little annoying because it raises the Bigsby up several millimeters, but still gets in the way less for me than the spring on the Les Trem.
      Second Edit: On the other hand, if you play with your hand farther forward than I do, or if the guitar has more space between the bridge and tailpiece than a typical LP does (such as on a Rivolta), then the Les Trem is likely to work just fine.

    • @acactusnamedjosh708

    • @nicksonthevet
      @nicksonthevet 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I saw that the Les trem comes with washers? and screws,what are they used for?

    • @jamesc8563
      @jamesc8563 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@nicksonthevet The screws are there to replace the existing ones for the stop tailpiece-they give you both US and Metric. They go directly into the existing holes for the tailpiece, no additional drilling required. They give you different screws because the ones for the original stop tailpiece have a raised, unthreaded section for the stopbar to hook to, that would stick up and get in the way if you used them for the Les Trem.
      The washers are there to help protect the top by raising the Les Trem slightly, to make sure the middle of the Les Trem doesn’t touch the top of the guitar, especially if the top is arched a little as it is on a Les Paul. You may or may not need them depending on your guitar.

    Have you not heard of stetsbar? Stetsbar was invented specifically to be a trem addition to les pauls and teles without any body routing or drilling needed.
    Les trem II is also a no mod alternative but it's closer in behavior to a bigsby
    I will say I think I like this design better than either of those vibrato systems.

  • @AndrewAHayes
    @AndrewAHayes 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I prefer a stiff vibrato as I only use it for surf music and dark rockabilly which doesn't require a great range.
    I would like a vibrato on my Telecaster without routing it, however, I suspect this will be nearly the price of the guitar and so a Bigsby will go on my Telecaster should I decide to pull the trigger.

  • @zloboslav_

    Does it allow the player to drop tune the 6th string while playing? When drop tuning do you keep the floating? Or if not possible, then can you set it in such way that it goes downwards only? I'd love to see a more in depth video about it and such particular questions. I'm curious how would it compare to the FRX Tremolo, bigger pull range obviously, but what about other stuff? :)

  • @garethbarlow5278
    @garethbarlow5278 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    The Floyd FRX is also an effective top mount option. It’s easier to set up than a regular Floyd, has a huge range and I’ve found it very stable, nearly as good as my Sofia 2.0. Design wise the FRX looks best on Explorers and V’s IMHO, though for Telescope and LP’s I really do like this new system. As for cost, if you can afford it then who cares about the cost. If you can’t you’re not really an aftermarket term guy anyway are you?
    Great vid Andre! Thank you.

    It looks.. cool.. and it fits with the Telly aesthetic
    but will have to see (and try) one in the wild
    also, I think I will have trouble justifying a trem on my Telly as I'm basically a fixed bridge player except for a Floyd Rose on my 90s hair metal Charvel in neon sinus-inflammation-snot yellow (which is a pain in the rear as FRs go, but I grew accustomed to it 🤷🏻‍♂️)
