INSANE SPEED MAN!!! I just spent the last two days at Jay, my first visit. What was so surprising to us was how skiied out almost every glade was despite the recent 34” dump! We hit every advanced glade except for vertigo, staircase, and everglade, but the only glades with small, untouched pow stashes were lower Timbuktu (slightly out of bounds), and lower North glade. Everything else was either ice, rocks, or both! I understand the base I’m the trees was pretty hard pack due to lack of snow and freezing rain, but is it normal for Jay to be this skiied out only a few days after a major storm? Maybe the presidents day crowds? It seemed to be just as icy and skiied out for you the day before us (Monday?) you visited.
Nice this was a great weekend to be there outside of some crowds. You generally see that on the steeper areas in the trees if you're a day or two late with the new snow. Especially since the snow was softer and can get pushed around. Week days usually have the best conditions given less traffic.
Your dad is badass at 60 with skills!! I’m hoping to do similar! I’m 52 and my boys are 9 and 11. They’ve got me in the lower glades a lot and we were recently at Jay. Kids aren’t ready yet for the steeps you ski and I need to hone my skills for the steeper glades! Curious what skis you recommend for tight trees? Thanks!
Yea he holds his own for sure lol. That's awesome. I'm sure they'll be there in no time. I would say atomic bent chetlers, Blizzard rustlers, Jskis escalators, Nordica unleashed are good ones to have a look at. Anything that's got a shorter turning radius and some rocker for deeper days is best.
My girlfriend and my 12yo son went for our first time the beginning of February. We live in ne Ohio so this winter was non existent for us. We loved Jay. It was my girlfriend’s first year skiing and she held her own well on blue groomers surprisingly. My son and I are intermediate. He is getting to the point where he wants to do ungroomed runs and some trees. I struggle bad in moguls and trees. I have enforcer 88 and just ordered some 2024 rustler 9’s. Hopefully these skis help with maneuverability. I’m thinking it’s time for a lesson to get over my hump. Anyways, great video and it makes me wish our season wasn’t over here. We also went to keystone Colorado and did three days. Thank god for those two trips.
Great footage man. I'm pretty good with a snowboard in the trees but I can't believe how fast you charge through narrow passages with ease.
