@@TheRipeTomatoFarms right thank you very much. We've started from seeds and they were growing very nicely then they died randomly. Dont know where we went wrong. Your videos are so informative. You do a great job helping complete beginners like me by showing exactly how to prepare your containers, soil, and how to water. Thank you so much brother. Bless you!
Fun fact: if you cut the stems shorter so that you’re just dealing with the softer woody branches, and then clear away with your thumbnail the first 2 inches at the bottom, you can just stick them into potting soil and keep them underneath a cloche. They’ll root even quicker. No water changes needed.
One year, when I had a plot at the community garden at the Catholic church, I planted parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, like the Simon and Garfunkel song. I just grew them as one season herbs. At the end of the season, I harvested them and hung them in bundles so they could dry. Or, I might have used my dehydrator to dry them. It's been a long time ago. I did not grow any herbs last year and the garden bed that I have is about half the size of the one that I had at the Catholic church. I still want to grow tomatoes and I'm going to try kale and want to try zucchini again. I always plant marigolds. If bunching onions count as herbs, I did grow those last year and will grow them again this year. I also want to try a different variety of cucumber. For me, every time I get to garden, it is like a brand new learning experience.
Everytime I buy some, I transplant and it does. This time I bought a bigger pot full. Looked so healthy and thought I'll leave it in the pot this time. It still is dying. This is unrelated to the video but.... I have a question about arugula. Will it be okay if I fertilize it before it has its true leaves? To speed up the growth?

Basil leaves are kind of lush.....kind of tough. But if they are too tough it usually means over watering and possibly too harsh exposure to the elements.
Thyme has been really hard growing from seed for me. Even the "easy sow" seeds. I grow indoors. Do you have a video that might help or can you do one? Thanks!
Hey Carla...harvest the Cilantro as much as possible and keep it cool and moist when the warm weather hits. It also sprouts and grows FAST, so if you get a batch that bolts, start another one right away....the seeds are ultra cheap! 🙂 th-cam.com/video/Tf_0DfVKQOY/w-d-xo.html
Hi! I had a thyme plant that died on me. The room it was in gets pretty hot, do you think that killed it? Or maybe I overwatered it. Can it handle 15 hours of grow light also? Thank you please help!
Both Maria. I've rooted ones from the store before. Its hit and miss depending on how fresh they are though. And Thyme from seeds is pretty straightforward.
Question!? My mom has a thyme plant in a container similar to the one you show taking cuttings from. I live in a pretty cold area of the North West US (-20ish times in winter). We have left this plant on the front steps exposed to the same elements as the front lawn. It comes back every year thicker hand heather yet I keep hearing I need to keep it warm. To your knowledge or anyone out there's is there a breed that is harder than the normal Mediterranean that I hear about?

I searched Google and youtube but I saw no answer...
Basil leaves are kind of lush.....kind of tough. But if they are too tough it usually means over watering and possibly too harsh exposure to the elements.
How often do you water them? Mine always die.
VERY infrequently. Thyme grows in mineral, super well-drained soils. They do NOT like soggy soils.
Love this! Thank you.

How do you save the old plant? Is it possible?
Thyme has been really hard growing from seed for me. Even the "easy sow" seeds. I grow indoors. Do you have a video that might help or can you do one? Thanks!
what can you inform about cilantro and getting a season out of the plants.. or do we just accept it bolts early?
Hey Carla...harvest the Cilantro as much as possible and keep it cool and moist when the warm weather hits. It also sprouts and grows FAST, so if you get a batch that bolts, start another one right away....the seeds are ultra cheap! 🙂 th-cam.com/video/Tf_0DfVKQOY/w-d-xo.html
Will it still work if there are little roots visible after 3 weeks?
Definitely!
Thanks for sharing
Cheers Annie! Enjoy the weekend!
Hi! I had a thyme plant that died on me. The room it was in gets pretty hot, do you think that killed it? Or maybe I overwatered it. Can it handle 15 hours of grow light also? Thank you please help!
Hey Chris, sorry to hear that. Extra light won't kill them, but heat for sure can.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms thanks
can i grow thyme from cuttings in water, indoors in the uk in january?
Does this work with creeping thyme as well?
Hey Phyllis, yes, it sure does work! :-)
So educative.
Good instructions
Can thyme be grown indoors year round? Or, do they have to be planted outside?
Most definitely they can Dolly. Enough light and good soil, it makes an excellent indoor plant!
Very skillful punning! 😁
Can i take the ones that are fresh in the store? Or from seed?
Both Maria. I've rooted ones from the store before. Its hit and miss depending on how fresh they are though. And Thyme from seeds is pretty straightforward.
Very nice👍👍👍👍
Thanks! 🙂
Thanks!
