@@polarbearsss To be fair, magic exists. Wheelchairs? They are magical wheelchairs now, they can fly. Not to say that's not an issue, but that it's not that big of an issue as it could be.
The funniest thing in this video was you getting excited think the author for The Silent Patient had this brilliant artistic choice of doing the chapters out of order and it was gonna have the reader put it together to find the twist only for you to find out that you are possibly the only person with a misprint and that wasn't the case. That is the most on brand thing i've seen on this channel! 😂
Girll just keep on pushing through the HP books! When I started the first two books, I was like "Eh, this is a childish yet decent series" And then the third book came along...whew! Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, my babies, were introduced. As you progress, I swear the books get more dark and the writing style becomes more adultish and there is so much more intriguing elements that come together.
As a long-time Harry Potter fan, I also rated the first book 2 stars upon rereading it as an adult, and I totally agree with all the issues you picked out (especially the fatphobia). I will say though I've recently reread the second book and while there are still issues I found it so much more entertaining and action-focused than the first one - so there's hope!
I think I need to have that Maybe You Should Talk To Someone book. I literally cry when I hear how you tell the story of the book 😭💕 And also, get well really soon, Cindy! 💕
That casual racism really just jumped out of nowhere. Like the book had to be violent, privileged, white focused, and racist? What was it trying to do? Audition for the Klu Klux Klan?
24:01 I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, but I completely agree with most of your criticisms, especially about J.K. Rowling. That's actually why a lot of fans have turned on her in the past decade. She has some offensive portrayals in her books, then, after she had finished the series, she started tweeting claims that certain characters were actually diverse the whole time. The year she published the final book, she had a press conference to announce one character's sexuality. Then, when she releases new content set in that world that has that character in it, she does not include that aspect of their character and actually adds another offensive stereotype to a different character. Fans are like, "Rowling, stop pretending to be re inclusive than you are."
I hesitate to give J.K. Rowling that much credit, but I always felt like she went so hard on Dudley’s Fatty McFatness to highlight how deprived Harry was. Like the Dursley family uses food as a form of control and are feeding him scraps and leftovers and shit.

omg i havent read any of the HP books in a hot minute, i didnt remember all that discrimination on it holy shit
Big yikes indeed
You didn't remember the anti-Semitism in Harry Potter and all the people in Hollywood who read it to adapt into a movie didn't notice at the time.
Mecharnie Dobbs plus like the fact that u have to take staircases to go everywhere in hogwarts. like disabled people who? wheelchairs exist? jk rowling doesnt know her.
@@polarbearsss To be fair, magic exists. Wheelchairs? They are magical wheelchairs now, they can fly. Not to say that's not an issue, but that it's not that big of an issue as it could be.
@@lookatthiscutekittyc2903 Someone, PLEASE draw a young wizard in a flying wheelchair.
I TRULY PLAYED MYSELF
cindy: i gave it 1.5 stars
me: i have to read it
Weird flex but ok
Hope you feel better soon. Your videos are always great and make my day better, so thank you for making this one even when you don’t feel good.
thank you so much kayla!!
Girll just keep on pushing through the HP books! When I started the first two books, I was like "Eh, this is a childish yet decent series" And then the third book came along...whew! Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, my babies, were introduced. As you progress, I swear the books get more dark and the writing style becomes more adultish and there is so much more intriguing elements that come together.
me in my english lit class
Me every day
Gotta love when we get a separate video to hear ALL the tea on a book ❤️ Can’t wait. 🍿
Yay that's a relief to hear!!
Really commend you on having subtitles in this video so soon! accessibility is so important and is often overlooked by others
Kyra Ferguson wrote the captions, so all subtitles is thanks to the community!
Omg I‘m so ready for the wtf moments of any book. Let your rage and disbelief out, girl. 😔✊🏻
There are just too many to count..
LMAO NOOOOO 😩
24:01 I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, but I completely agree with most of your criticisms, especially about J.K. Rowling. That's actually why a lot of fans have turned on her in the past decade. She has some offensive portrayals in her books, then, after she had finished the series, she started tweeting claims that certain characters were actually diverse the whole time. The year she published the final book, she had a press conference to announce one character's sexuality. Then, when she releases new content set in that world that has that character in it, she does not include that aspect of their character and actually adds another offensive stereotype to a different character. Fans are like, "Rowling, stop pretending to be re inclusive than you are."
that's exactly how I describe Nocturna lol
That's pretty much what it was lol
I just moved from NC to FL and I have no friends here but listening to your videos makes me feel less lonely. Your sense of humor is so on point
aww its always tough moving to a new place!! good luck!!
I should be studying for my finals atm
but the moment I got the notification for her video I literally dropped everything
It's the middle of the year for u?
Good luck with ur finals babe
the excitement i have for your serpent and dove review is overwhelminggg!
I hesitate to give J.K. Rowling that much credit, but I always felt like she went so hard on Dudley’s Fatty McFatness to highlight how deprived Harry was. Like the Dursley family uses food as a form of control and are feeding him scraps and leftovers and shit.
As a life long Potterhead I am living for Cindy roasting the shit out of my entire childhood 💁😱😭
This is a weird compliment but I love your eyebrows in this video.
oh wow thanks!! hehe i did nothing to them
Now I'm gonna focus on her eyebrows every video
