I think that in the film universe, Amy should appear as a "lady in distress", as it was when she appeared in Sonic SD, but then in the course of the plot, for the sake of Sonic and friends, she will learn to fight so as not to be useless. Such a growth of the hero could be done at a time when Sonic is threatened by something serious and only she is nearby.
Amy is pretty much default Boom personality nowadays so I wouldn't doubt it,except maybe the flipping the script part. If anything they'd just make it like Boom where they both tiptoe around the issue.

realistically is relationship sonic and amy have in boom is actually adorable. Everyone knows they like each other and even they do but they struggle to express it to each other properly
