- Here is another full episode of press your luck. This is episode 173 as recorded from GSN in DVD quality. A SUPER EXCITING EPISODE as Becky wins HUGE!!! the highest single day win to that point... a record that would stand for a mere 3 weeks when a certain someone (we all know who) came along and smashed it. Becky won $17,210 just in prizes. That has to be the all-time record for a one-day prize total. No wonder Rod went hoarse halfway through the copy.

to Guyverfan95 : i think it is more exciting because in the larson eps he KNEW what he was doing and where the board was going to stop. in this episode becky and paul lacked knowledge of the board patterns so their reaction to hitting the big bucks square was genuine excitement. i think even the audience in the larson eps pretty much figured it out after the first 5 or 10 spins or so. this ep was pure "luck"

Quite welcome. I haven't uploaded in ages though. Life kinda took over. However with the availability of the buzzr network people can get their fix of PYL. Plus i got sick of fremantle hitting me with copyright strikes.
even though rod roddy was running out of breath having to announce those 8 prizes that becky won but i love that music they play in the background when announcing the prizes that whoever wins, they really should,
bring that music back for the elizabeth banks press your luck and have it play when rod roddy's successor neil ross announces the prizes won by whoever.

Agreed. Or the one when the woman (i forget her name) hits the car on her final spin to win the game. Or episode 182 where the game went so long they couldn't do the closing segment and cindy had a $30000 plus win.
i know you guys want me to post the episodes but please be patient. when i am at home it takes a bit longer to upload as i am stuck with a slow connection. when i am at my sisters house i upload quicker because she has cable internet. i'm getting to them but it's gonna take time.
I understand. If it makes you feel any better, I still use Windows 95 service pack 28. Microsoft still supports all past OS systems. They just dont announce it.

I've always wondered how these contestants are forced to take their vacations. Is it one after the other, do they get a voucher, or are they spread out? I can imagine her boss not being happy that she won 2 solid months of vacations that she now has to take.
indeed it was mr barker. look foreward to the future when i post other exciting installments such as the famous 5 minute spin battle where in kathy loses at least $31,000 to the whammy. or the exciting $3 win (i forget the contestant's names but yes there is an ep where one player edges out another by a mere $3. closest game in PYL history). also the infamous jim hess ep (player yells "S--T!" after whammying on the last spin) or the mel blanc episode.
On some episodes, we get to hear Peter Tomarken on air, saying this to a champ named Cindy: "Cindy, well done! You are the champ and Rod Roddy will tell you what you have won."
He almost always got to say something similar on air to the other champions, but this time, he may have made an exception to say this to Becky off air, knowing that Rod was going to have his work cut out for him at announcing Becky's prizes when they came back from commercial break.
This episode seemed inevitable that somebody would break the bank, whether if it was going to be Becky, Paul, or that dreaded Whammy. I wonder if Paul was aware of that $25,000 winnings cap. His strategy may have been to break the bank on the second day, which may be the reason why he stopped playing in case if Becky was going to lose her staggering total to a Whammy. He could have continued playing to build a seemingly impossible lead over Becky, but that would mean that he would have to retire as a one day champion after exceeding the $25,000 limit. Even if Paul was trying not to exceed the winnings cap, he could have done it, anyway, and still lost because if Becky had hit something with extra spins, she could have passed them to Paul. Also, passing as many spins as he did was risky because if a Whammy had broken Becky's bank on the next spin, her four remaining passed spins would be transferred to the "earned" column, then she would have a shot at beating Paul with just a little money if she had passed the last spin back to him and a Whammy had broken his bank to end the game. So many possible outcomes.

i was a wee pup at the time and do not recall seeing the original CBS airing. i can see they obviously edited the contestant interviews at the beginning and shortened the home player spin fanfare (i didn't even know it was the home player spin untll peter mentions after the spin that so and so from somewhereville won such and such).
Somebody get Rod Roddy a drink after that prize rundown.
This is of course the GSN edit. They aired parts of this episode that CBS didn't show, and vice versa.
FTR, the Home Player Spin is at 11:36.

What good would that have done? He wouldn't have won, anyway.
He easily could have. He still had 7 spins and $8500, Becky had a good chance of hitting a Whammy and losing the 24000+ but we'll never know. By not passing i'm sure we got a much more exciting episode though!
. Also, Becky hit square #7 3 times in a row and avoided the whammy towards the end there. She was lucky, plain and simple.

Good thing Peter kept the introductions short to get to the game. Rod had an exhausting prize read ahead of him. Rod was lucky he didn't lose his voice.
The intros were actually edited out for time.
@@eric21200 Did the producers know this would be a long game and that's why it was edited from the broadcast?
@@seanadams3551 Actually, after the show is taped it gets edited down to whatever can fit in a half hour. In this case, they edited it to exclude interviews and all acknowledgement of the Home Player Spin, although you can clearly tell when that spin was.
This is the GSN version which was actually different than the CBS version that aired originally back in '84, from what I read. In that case, the interviews and home player spin were left intact -- not sure what was edited out in that version, however.
