  • We went to visit the California Science Center in Los Angeles which has a lot of displays and interactive activities for kids.
One of the great things about this science museum is that it’s completely free to visit.
Upon entering, there were models of jets hanging in the lobby.
We explored an area with satellites, space capsules and other spacecraft.
There was a room that taught about pregnancy and birth.
We entered into the main area of the museum called “Ecosystems.”
The introduction room had large screens that showed scenes of environments from around the earth.
There are multiple rooms each dedicated to an ecosystem.
The Island Zone had children’s activities to show how animals compete for food.
The River Zone had different stations on how rivers are formed.
The Desert Zone gave us a feel for how animals survive in the heat.
The Poles Zone showed the unique environments of the North and South Poles.
There was even an LA Zone, which explored the intersection of the the city with nature.
The Kelp Forest Zone, a 2-story aquarium with a tunnel, was definitely a highlight of the museum.
The Rocky Shore Zone is directly above the Kelp Forest, where we could see the top of the aquarium. There we got to touch sea stars.
One of the main attractions is the Endeavor Space Shuttle. There’s a room that displays information about the shuttle and its missions.
Then we walked into a large hangar where the actual space shuttle was on display.
The California Science Center in Los Angeles is an incredible place for kids with a lot of different rooms to explore.
