Martin Chuzzlewit

Martin Chuzzlewit is not a particularly popular Charles Dickens novel and this is evidenced by there being very few dramatic adaptations. There is a very good BBC series, which is available on DVD and this encouraged me to read the book. This I enjoyed and I would consider rereading.
As with many of Dickens’ novels, there are dark elements, but also comic ones and I believe Martin Chuzzlewit has been described as a comedy. There are many interesting characters and it is a tale well told. It is also a sizeable work with around 800 pages.
