To everyone who is trying to bash the guy's technique, he basically is creating a decline bench position in order to bench more than what he normally would on a flat bench. You are here to learn what he is trying to teach here, if you don't appreciate or found it inefficient or anything you can just appreciate him and go on with your life. Bashing on anyone won't make you any better. P. S. This won't help you lift 700 pounds in a day.
Ehh. Thats not what i got from this video. I was gettin the feelin that hes just using a shit ton on leverages and momentum from his legs. People who over arch are practically declining
@@alexpark1694 surely putting yourself in an optimal position for leverages, maximising leg drive and using an arch to push from a better position is what you wpuld want? In terms of pushing the most weight that is. Of course this might not be optimal for someone looking to gain aesthetics but looking at the guy teaching this technique i don't think thats his clientele haha

I tried this method in the gym yesterday with my normal 5x5 weight. While it wasn't as perfectly executed as Scot, I feel like it definitely helped me produce more power.
I am so grateful for this one. Scot explains how to tighten and push with more detail than I've ever heard before. I already began working with this today.

Short arms and big ribcage. Geez, he lifts the weight about one-quarter as high as some of us narrow-ribbed, long-armed guys. Built-to-bench, a champion.
@@MrNizVID i mean bodybuilding is targeting muscles. So you can use leg drive just not as much as he is. You want most of the weight to be moved by your chest not your legs. Also dont arch as much, the longer the rep range the better for bodybuilding
Not a lot of people know this but it is actually illegal for Scott to let the bar touch his chest if there is not more than 600lbs on it, it was made into law back in 2013 by the supreme court, fun fact of the day.
9:28 Scott: Im in me mooms car.. *pushes the font seat waaay back with his body drive, while blindfolded driving the car through the fucking wall* Scott: Vrooooooom! Driving through like dah!
I dont know if any one else knwos this, but retracting the scapulae too much on bench will deactivate the shoulder girdle and will put immense strain on the tendons involved, especially the longhead of the bicep.
Powerlifting: Moving the weight from point A to point B regardless of form. Hypertrophy: Target muscle fibre damage by proper range of motion, form and progressive volume overload.
You cant even say this would help with strength considering hes using so many other leverages. He using so much “body power” and barely any upper body strength

Nice was planning to bench 700 lb today to
Awesome. I just benched 700. Up from 90.
I have been benching 700 since birth
I curl 850. Benching is for beginners.

This is just a bench as a " lift" not bench as an exercise per se. So Its more for triples and doubles or singles
Using this technique for 5x5 is not a good idea.

Bro the intro where he tore his pec was insane. You could literally see it snap off

Serious question though... doesn’t your feet have to be fully flat when you’re competing?
I think just as long as your butt is on the bench
Depends on the federation
how does this work though for IPF lifters. Feet have to be flat and head on bench

It’s not about the weight you lift it’s about how you lift it
Doesn’t really measure how strong your chest is if you use this method right? Is this just recommended for competition?
