Your positioning was far better than the guy in front but I am surprised at the difference pulling away after the bends. The noises we hear is the peg touching deck? I have a 2008 Sprint 1050, I had the peg on tarmac noise once due to an exit signalling white van driver on a phone that decided he needed to go around again instead of exiting with me (2 lanes exit) The bike is capable I just need half the experience you have. As with nature, 3 and 5 works well, it's why i like the triple as a good allrounder with a great sound. Respect and thx for positing mate.
Thanks Graham, those Ducati's have awesome torque and pull like bulls on corner exit. It was also my first trackday so I was a bit inexperienced. The scraping sound is definitely the pegs which got ground into oblivion and actually caused me to buy a Daytona 675 that solved that problem on track. The 955 Sprint was was my first road bike after 25 years without a bike and really wanted the 1050 but the missus didn't like the stepped seating so we went for a 955 with the flatter seat.
Hi There, I know I am slow to the party but great video. Can I ask you. Did you have a steering damper fitted to this bike? The reason I ask is I just bought the same bike.
Thanks Murray, the bike was bone stock apart from the muffler and tyres. They are very capable old bikes but a bit limited for track riding. Cheers Dave
It was my first trackday so thanks for the really blunt feedback. I kinda worked it out since then regardless of your advice. 12k people watched it and seemed to enjoy the old guy on the old bike having his first trackday. You keep doing you @crozwayne but maybe you could be a little less harsh with your expert comments on new track riders.
Own a 955 sprint st 2000 myself, good to see her streching her legs. Very nice drive for a first track day !
Really good to see this old bike being thrashed - nice one!
Can’t wait to take my 99’ Sprint ST 955i to the track too!!!
You need to remove the pannier rack and lift the exhaust a bit to get the cornering clearance! :-)
Good ride!
neat video! thank you for sharing. how did you know about the oil leak? was the rear tire slipping or something?

Teaching old dogs new tricks!!
You dont need bigger brakes or kahunas, you need to be in a lower gear through the corners so you can stay with him you utter bell end!
lol :-)
