it's great because it integrates with the operating system. the little shell script you see is being executed within the editor and allows him to read RSS feeds. it doesn't require large javascript plugins, it only requires a little shell script - that's the point. and in order to communicate with acme you manipulate files that represent buffers in the editor (or other things, too). I recall it being under /mnt/acme, but don't quote me on that.. it takes 1 line of code to create, delete or make simple modifications to a file using your shell. so now you can have this script in your path, and you can execute it within the editor by simply selecting text that has the name of the script. you can just write the name of your script in the "toolbar", and whenever you want to execute that script - you just click the text as if it were a button and it executes that text as a shell command. it's that simple. the point of acme is that - instead of bloating your editor, you just use tools that your system already provides and find a way to integrate these tools into your workflow. it's like UNIX philosophy on crack. and anyone can do it.
what kind of shite editor is this?? i'd even rather use an abomination such as Turbo C rather than THIS. I'd rather use windows notepad one handed and use 4 spaces instead of tabs than using this acme disease.
