Chamberlain garage door wont open - blinks/clicks every 5 seconds

  • We suspect our house got hit by lightning or a power surge and knocked out this Chamberlain garage door opener (part # HD950WFi). Then panel was unresponsive and the garage door opener would only click and blink every 4 to 5 seconds. This was caused by a faulty logic board.
I replaced the logic board (part # 050DCTWF) and this cleared up most of the issues. But I discovered the control panel was also busted. I replaced that as well (part # 41A7305-1) and it cleared up all the issues.

Thank you so much for this post. We just had a huge rain storm and feared our garage door opener had given up the ghost. I disconnected the power and battery for about 5 minutes. When I reconnected the battery and power, the garage door opener came back to life like the true champ that it is.

I have the exact same issue. Lightning struck our house and I was trying all kinds of things to hopefully get it working again. But nothing worked. The lights are flashing just like yours. I will go ahead and replace the whole darn thing, even though it’s only 3 years old. Don’t care to mess with it. Thanks a bunch for your excellent video. Told me everything I didn’t want to know but needed to know. 😊👍

Thank you for this video!! It actually helped me resolve a problem I had with a new installation. I had just installed a brand new Chamberlain, set the travel limits, and when I pressed the wall control, it would not open. It would just blink twice. I spent a couple of hours rechecking wiring, sensor alignments, etc. Then I noticed how you set your travel limits and how you then had to do a test open and close at the end. I did not do the test run when I set the travel limits. Once I saw your video, I decided to reset the travel limits again, did the test open and close at the end, and now everything works! Chamberlains instructions and troubleshooting guide sucks. Their instructions just say set the open limit, set the close limit, the unit will blink twice, and you are done. What morons! I've done several installs, but this was the first time I ran into this. Your video (though it was for something else) helped me out tremendously! I would have assumed I bought a defective unit, would have taken everything down, returned it, installed a new one, and the same thing would have happened again. THANK YOU!!

I have a brand new chamberlain garage unit and it simply won't open or close. No motor activity. Sensors in place. Wires in place. The lights activate when remote opener is pressed but no movement.

Picked up some good info on the programming, setting door stops, etc, but video is worth watching if only for the Lt. Dangle cameo appearance.

If you just installed your new Chamberlain system, you need to set the travel limits first. I learned the hard way, because mine didn't come with assembling instructions.

If your garage door opener is ticking like a clock, it probably just means you need to adjust the sensors. I just adjusted them by hand, they're aligned when the LED light turns green on mine and it worked again.

Lol. Love this guy humor. "Being reasonable is not really my thing." I'm probably find so much humour in that because it sounds like me.

so my sensors are okay, but suddenly, the craftsman garage door opener stopped operating, and the yellow LED is slowly blinking, why suggestions? It seems like the control unit that is attached to the wall is not responding, for some reason. Only lights get turned on when you cross the sensor path.

Mine died after 4 years too. Are these designed to die after 4 years? My home definitely was not hit by lightning.

So my problem is that the remote and manual control works .. when the garage door goes fully down it’ll have a clunk and then reverse back up . Once fully back up another clunk and flashing lights
