- How to make the Five Intersecting Tetrahedra, designed by Thomas Hull
Presented here by Jo Nakashima with permission of the creator
Difficulty level: easy to make the modules, very hard to assembly
My paper: 9cm x 3cm each module (30 sheets)
Don't know the name of this paper in english, it is some kind of thick foil paper (cartolina laminada em português)
My old video with complete assembly:
• Origami Five Intersect...
How to fold thirds (if you have squares, you'll need to cut into thirds to get the starting rectangle):
• Origami Diagramming us...

Making the pieces were easy but when started on combining it
Was MADNESS
@crazyorigami4
at 3:27: the mountain fold on the left unit also folds the little corner of the right unit (wich is inside the pocket). This fold locks the units together
I've never been so angry at paper in my life
согласна,если не получается,готова послать всё!
same
Lol
Me too
Lol, same here.
@SusanFromOhio My paper is a little stiff, but I don't recommend stiff paper unless you're making a big one (for small sizes like 3cm x 9cm, paper like copy paper works very well and it is easier to fold than this paper I'm using). It is some kind of thicker foil paper, I don't know how it is called in english... I haven't tried origami paper, but I think you're right
@xkirasaki printer paper works very well (I have older videos on this model using printer paper)
@Maloriar yes, copy paper works fine
This paper is easy to find in any stationery in Brazil, don't know about your country...
it is also found in india . i know because i live in india
@600paul there is a video already, I added the link on video description
@XxPharaohAtemxX in Brazil it is very easy to find in any stationery. Don't know about US...
this is cool model,i a little bit hard conected it but it looks good. Thanks Jo!
@CrazyManiac70 try larger sheets of paper (my recommended size is small because it looks better in my opinion, but bigger will be easier to connect)
@budgiebreder try larger sheets of paper (my recommended size is small because it looks better in my opinion, but bigger will be easier to connect)
I ALWAYS LOVE THAT YOU PICK IT UP SO CAREFULLY
@dahattrickboy it's some kind of thicker foil paper. Don't know how it is called in english, sorry
you know, i really thank you for showing this... because my school saw my hidden talent
I know how you feel it happened to me as well. :(
Same
Same
Finally something easy I can make :)
Hi
@milarox1999 no, you should use a third
@600paul yes, it is
Just finished one of these using 1:3 inch pieces of paper. Dang that was hard!
9cm x 3cm (pode usar qualquer retângulo na proporção 3:1)
I strongly recommend using bigger pieces of paper than 3x9 cm, it will make the putting it together less of a struggle!
Wuuooww se ve tan impresionante la figura pero es muy sencilla de hacer en realidad. Muy buen video
goddamn was combining the pieces hard. almost got a mental breakdown because of it. great video anyway. i did this for my math class.
you're so awesome. Best origami tutorials out there.
@The602puppy if u mean printer paper then yea because its stiff if u mean regular origami paper then not really its very thin the recommended size is 1x3 ratio so for example for this he used 3cm x 9cm paper i think ,you can just take printer paper and turn it into a square and then divide it into thirds hope this helps :D
I just made it with Christmas paper. So amazing!
It ties my brain after doing this...
@jonakashima In english it's called laminated card stock.
Tom hull is so cool!
it will make a 60º angle
I'm happy with a tetrahedron...
Which one is harder? This one or the six pentagonal prisms? I made this one with ease, and I want to know if I can try the prisms.
Five intersecting tetrahedra is harder, but the pentagonal prisms takes more time to make
The Five Tetrahedra is hard at first, but it will become super easy when you got the hang of it. The Six Pentagonal Prisms is also one of the easy ones, but if you check out Daniel Kwan's Six Pentagonal Prisms #3 (which is in his Flickr account), you will notice that weaving the prisms is much easier than Six Pentagonal Prisms #1 (The one Jo was talking about). XD
By the way the picture of Six Pentagonal Prisms #3 is in the link below :

The assembly is insanely hard!!! But I could do just fine
@jonakashima I used an online shop but I think they only deliver to the UK. eBay is always good. I got some huge 300mm by 300mm foil papers from there once for a reasonable price.
I made a "filled" version once, but this is better. :D
Beautifull but easy ❤❤❤ thanks you so much
@Razor2553 Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0
THIS IS VERY NICE.👌👌👌
Incredible!
I am going to try it!
What kind of paper (60 or more grams per m2) is the best for this origami?
@jonakashima i can make the tetrahedra. do you just mean so that the sides are longer so they fit together better?
should i use printer paper or harder paper? i did it with printer paper but it doesn't want to stay together =(
any tips or tricks for assembly?
Nossa, os diagramas acima no vídeo ficaram legais...muito mais didático!
My favorite kind of origami is definetly modular. especially the ones with 12 or less modules because the fact that i have ADHD kinda conflicts with the time consuming ones
I like the look of this very much. It appears you are using a very stiff type of paper.
What kind did you use? It would seem that origami paper would be too flimsy. Am I correct. Thank you.
Is it good to use copy paper? If not what other kind of paper shoul we use
So hard to slip each module in place xD but it's worth it!
mabey use foil to hold in place?
I was wondering where you can get the paper cause i'm bad at cutting out paper
can normal copy paper be used? i tried to meka it once but it didnt go well.. and where didi you bought that paper? i knew i saw it somewhere, i cant remember where...
please reply!!!
how do you make the video's thumbnail a photo of your finished product, and how do you make the thing on the top left hand corner your name?
u rock!!:)
is there another paper size for this ? 9x3 is really small for all of those cuts and creases :s
@RobotChick1000 6x2
@ebbitt13 thirds
Thank you so much Jo you are the best (:
@amos999999 it's all in the vid and descr.
advisory use 9x9 cm paper, in description tutorial how to divide into 3 parts :)
please reply!---------> why dont my modules stay together they are not holding what do i need to do???
Is it okay if i use printer paper scraps from making a square?
@Sweedishfish100 Im making it with copy paper (80gr) right now. Its painful, to say the least. Copy paper is too soft, too thick and the surface is too rough to connect the modules smoothly. I reckon the paper used in the video works much better: a little stiff, thin, with smooth surface.
It is actually easier to assemble if you make the whole tetrahedron inside the others; if you do a pyramid before and then try to insert it it is way harder
Since it is a 3:1 ratio, it can also be a 5x15
Aleksandra Gnatyuk that's the same idiot.
Wow you must be a genius to figure that out.
i have regular printer paper, should i use a third or a forth? also, where do you buy all your origami paper?
How do u make the correct size and shape of the paper
Its looks amazing if you fold it with 2cm×6cmpaper
That would be too hard
que tipo de papel utilizas?
Where do u get the papers the square and rectangles?
That paper looks so awesome. I can´t find it here in Mexico :(
Hi, i have a question at 1:19, at what angle do you fold the corners to the crease? Thanks to whoever replies
look at the pic that he has on the screen on the top right
@jonakashima can you really help me on the last part but not the glue

Can u get this paper in Syracuse New York
Modules fall apart whenever I assemble them. What should I do?
It shouldn't....try and press at each corner...it might stay in place
On a scale of 1/10 how difficult is it to build this model?
JordanSFDaniel8 easy to make, hard as hell to assemble but it was worth it
