The salt massif has a length of 5-6 km, a width of about 2-3 km and can be exploited for several thousand years. The beginnings of the salt mine date back to around 1686, when the owner Mihail Cantacuzino realized that there was a salt deposit in the area and so, wanting to open a mine, he bought the Slănic estate. From the document recording the transaction, it emerges that before 1685 there were old furnaces, of small depths, 5 km east of Teișani. Salt in Wallachia was extracted from three salt pans: Ocna Mare in Vâlcea, Telega in Prahova and Slanic in Săcuieni.
Access to the salt mine is currently done by minibuses, after on August 9, 2014, the salt mine elevator that was supposed to lower the cabin to 204 meters fell from a height of 4 m with 8 tourists in it, two of them being injured.

This is truly spectacular, and it instantly triggers my imagination.... this could be a great set location for science fiction movie of some sort, as a space station or something, haha.... You are lucky being able to visit there, I would love to, some day.
