Thank You for a really deep episode that stayed focused on the difficult topic of the journey to healing for children of divorce. I laughed, I cried, I cheered for your success. Thanks for sharing Dan. This was one of your best episodes Gianmarco!
I'm not someone who watches comedian's podcasts to laugh 100% of the time, I really appreciate it when we get to hear more about someone's life that isn't a "bit" but rather just telling a story. I already knew about Soder's family dynamics and the loss of his sister and Dad (as I was a huge Bonfire fan), I was still getting emotional for him as he described the manner in which they died along with his aunt. The relationship with his cousin that blossomed, being in love with his fiancé and dog (shout out Myrtle) and seeing his career reaching new heights is just wonderful! Thanks for another great episode guys.
Great episode. I'm not familiar with Dan, but man, your story got me ❤ Also Russell, keeping up appearances was truly a tv classic. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤️
7:00 that comment about old timey strong man body is completely true. I used to work in a group home for disabled adults and the client who sometimes had violence issues had the body of a 1917 fisticuffs fighter. He bit me once, but that was my fault for getting too close. Never let 'em drag you in.
I’m 31 and grew up on last of the summer wine and keeping up appearances and Russel’s character on titanique is 💯Hyacinth Bucket coded. It makes so much sense.
Thanks for this therapy session boys! I come from a dad that's a high functioning drug addict that worked for Entenmanns which provided Aetna ins lmaoooo oh and my parents divorced when I was 4 😂😂😂
I absolutely adored Keeping Up Appearances!! Daisy and Onslow....oh my goodness she hated them 😂 And "slutty" Rose 😂😂😂 It was such clever theatrical comedy.
omg! james bond jr! was just telling a friend about that show! this episode has me reeling from the practically 1:1 life experiences-kinda surprised there wasn’t a discussion between dan and gianmarco about being tall sensitive comedians.
45:04 I am around the same age as Dan, and I remember in elementary school, our principal sent home a letter telling us why the Simpons were bad. In his eyes, it taught children how to be disrespectful to adults. Bart was a bad influence. However, when I was like 12 The Tracy Ullman show was airing on Comedy Central, and my brother called me in to watch the cartoon on that show... The Simpsons. It was eye opening. It was formative to my sense of humor today.
I hope that Russel finds a great vocale coach that can help him improve and enjoy more the use of the voice. It can be very useful for gigs, but also for his personal satisfaction. Love from Italy.
as a fellow Coloradoan who also grew up on the track system I can say it was great. I was on the track that got the two week break that ran into the 3 week break, so I got 5 weeks off total
The BIGGEST mistake the most recent RoboCop movie made was having the Villain of the movie be taken out by the end. They should've saved that guy and his robot army for a dystopian future where RoboCop has to stop the army
as a fellow Coloradoan who also grew up on the track system I can say it was great. I was on the track that got the two week break that ran into the 3 week break, so I got 5 weeks off total Bro I haven't thought about casa Bonita since middle school holy shit, they had indoor cliff diving I swear to God
1:13:38 I'm the second of nine kids. (Yes, nine. The first five and the 'rents immigrated to NY in '90.) Both patents still together legally, but have been living separately for over 20 years. Irresponsible, deadbeat father who was never home. And when he was, we were to be his butlers or needed to fuck off with all that noise. Plus, the beatings. I've got the frantic energy of "please don't leave me" and the going home and "why did I effing talk so much and say that?!" No cool toys or experiences, but lots of trauma and abuse. 😂😢
"Yeah I'm doin steroids" 😏 Bruh. Solu-medrol? Ipra. Bromide? 😅 I mean, while all healthcare/asthmatics/COPDers here know exactly whats up, I'm worried about creating a narrative for the rest of our shit western educated brethren who think all steroids= anabolic steroids ( from the jacked bro at your gym in a zip-lock) and that it's the norm to just take them whenever and not be worried.
10:36 um, AKSCHUALLY “Mr. Robot” did a combination of singing and lip syncing. Particularly the end of the movie performance was mostly if not entirely sang by the actor
That SA obviously goes with modelling doesn't really compare with the comparisons he made. It puts the blame on the models. The problem are the men in power and that could be fixed by the justice system and antimysogenist culture... not really as unavoidable as the other examples.
I love millennials for flushing out the lines, I like to think gen x dug our heels in and shouted and y'all are building forts and interrogating... the boomers made huge changes with their expressiveness and transparency CSNY joni Mitchell etc lots of art from mid century liberated us I'm healing just eavesdropping on comedians doing podcasts a comic is holding off all of Russia for Christ sake
Omg 108.00 minutes Creating new toys with parts!! I totally did that! I used jack in the box Antenna heads as the base in 2001 Had little car motors, plastic and metal. Demonic, super hero stuff Weird shit.
Soder and I have parallel media consumption. Other details are very different. But i've lived in CO since high school. I drove past Illif from parker to get to a job at united airlines
Hr needs to scream from the diaphram!! I was in mudic man as thd conductor. I had to belt no mic and echo the room for all my lines. And do the water slurping thing to hydrate your vocal folds and warm up

Thank You for a really deep episode that stayed focused on the difficult topic of the journey to healing for children of divorce. I laughed, I cried, I cheered for your success. Thanks for sharing Dan. This was one of your best episodes Gianmarco!
A stand-out ep that had me revisit tons of Dan Soder's work! ❤️ (now you all need to come do Seattle together 🙏 I'll bring sashimi!)
It never dawned on me but G.S. and Soder are perfect for long-form convos. They're the Peanut butter and Chocolate of dealing of life's traumas.
I'm not someone who watches comedian's podcasts to laugh 100% of the time, I really appreciate it when we get to hear more about someone's life that isn't a "bit" but rather just telling a story. very refreshing to have a guest who doesn’t panic when gianmarco knows any amount of information about them beforehand
I love episodes that really get in the weeds with everyone's family shit😂 We can allll relate to the insanity of family dynamics

1:24:18 that moment when Dan just goes “and then I started getting fucked up” followed by that little chuckle resonated so much with me. Jeeeeez

"Backpack full of guys" pretty much sums up my childhood

One of the best pods I have evwr listened to. Dan is the man.
I'm so glad my family, and friends' families, don't do that "out at 18" thing. Loved this podcast as usual! Always look forward to these :)
I absolutely adored Keeping Up Appearances!! Daisy and Onslow....oh my goodness she hated them 😂 And "slutty" Rose 😂😂😂 It was such clever theatrical comedy.
Oh sweet Dan. If I could bring any 3 people back to life for just 1 day, I would give one to you to see your sister again.

Came for Dan. Enjoyed the Pod
I LOVE keeping up appearances! Such a throw back 😂
Keeping Up Appearances is a top tier comedy
Kids in the hall, strangers with candy, absolutely fabulous, heavy hitters from my formative years, looking back... people are weird funny
I've been a Soder head forever. This is likely because I started counseling last week and I hate it but I want Sodes to be my therapist lol
45:04 I am around the same age as Dan, and I remember in elementary school, our principal sent home a letter telling us why the Simpons were bad. In his eyes, it taught children how to be disrespectful to adults. Bart was a bad influence.

It's a loooooove seat.
Damn the episode takes a real emotional turn near the end

KEEPING UP APPEARANCES! ❤❤❤ WHOOOOOTWHOOOT!
Hyacinth Bucket pronounced Bouquet!
That shit was funny! 😂
Woohoo!! This is gonna be a good one! Just what I needed this Tuesday morning❤
The Leftovers is not a magic show. A mystical event happened without context once then nothing fantastical happens again.
That was a hard show to watch, but hey, Carrie Coon's boobies!
I hope that Russel finds a great vocale coach that can help him improve and enjoy more the use of the voice. It can be very useful for gigs, but also for his personal satisfaction. Love from Italy.

I've never heard silence like when these two queens shut up when he said "My grandma passed away"
stand-up comics 🤝 complicated paternal relationships
Finding this podcast episode is such a dream. Listening to this is like sitting over tea in one of my Russian family friend's homes
You were inside one of your Russian friends?
@@thelokifiles Yep. It was an experience getting pickled slowly with pure alcohol.
1:15:20 is so true LMAO thanks dad and thanks PlayStation
This was one long therapy session
God Bless Daniel Erwin Soder
MTV used to play uncensored South Park episodes in Finland, they sound kind of weird when you're used to the bleeping.
The BIGGEST mistake the most recent RoboCop movie made was having the Villain of the movie be taken out by the end. They should've saved that guy and his robot army for a dystopian future where RoboCop has to stop the army
Guys Codes Dan Soder! Crackle crackle

Nice of Dan to help this sassy gay couple get some views.
Sneaker people: Does anyone know what kind of Nike Dan is wearing? They’re a great style!
Also, his story is genuinely so wild and sad! I hate to say it’s refreshing, because it’s SO tragic, but there is a beauty to someone who is so open.
No wonder Gary split 💀
Sedona!
1:15:34 mine were GameCube and Wii 🤣😂🤣 bought by my great grandparents to win me against my POS dad 💀
The down side: what shane gillis family says about his side of the family
The down side : what whiskey ginger says about that other pod cast lol

Oh wow, I thought Tim Dillon lost weight.
Hr needs to scream from the diaphram!! I was in mudic man as thd conductor. I had to belt no mic and echo the room for all my lines. And do the water slurping thing to hydrate your vocal folds and warm up
