Man, this is the track I like most in Streets of Rage and you managed to reproduce it with the same elegance in the version of Mega Drive, congratulations! It was really good.
That's kinda what I was going for, I try to make them mostly the same because if they get changed too much they no longer sound like the same song, well that's my opinion. I usually experiment to see how much I can change with out it sounding too different. Sometimes I will kinda do my own thing with them a bit, mostly depends on the song itself.
Thanks, well it depends on the song I do sometimes, not often I am able to rip samples from the rom file using game genie narrowing down codes then freezing the game on purpose and recording them in audacity then putting them in my sample library, If I do this I usually overlay it with my own made samples to get the sound I want, also I sometimes use ym2612 vst and more recently VOPM vst for the sega sound. and I use other vsts and filters and create my own sounds etc.
I always visualize the NYC skyline when this song plays because while in the elevator it takes you on a view of it.
I think that was my favorite level from the game, The city in the background looked so cool
SoR4 confirms it isn't NYC it's actually wood oak city (estel gives it away)

HELL YES!! absolutely the best cover of this song out there, perfectly faithful
Beautiful that TH-cam recommended this amazing ost to me, what a good job, faithful to the original version!
Thanks!
I like how most of your covers stay pretty true to the originals. If the Genesis had a better soundchip your work would fit neatly
