Haven’t watched yet, but John Riggins and Timmy Smith better be on here. Riggins broke the record for most rush yards EVER in a playoff run. He had 610 rush yards in 4 games. That 610 is STILL the record, and has stood for 41 years. He averaged 152.5 Rush yards PER GAME, had 4 TDs, carried the ball 136 TIMES in just the playoffs. Had 166 rush yards in the SB, WON SB MVP, and had arguably the most historic run in SB history. Where he TRUCKED Don McLean on 4th and inches for a 43 yard TD to give the Skins their 1st lead in the SB in the 4th quarter. Timmy Smith set the STILL Super Bowl record with 204 rush yards in the 1988 SB. To put this in the proper context, that record has now stood for 35 YEARS, he is still the ONLY 200 yard rusher in a SB. Since he set the record, nobody has even came within 46 YARDS of his 204. TD had 157 in 1998, nobody else has came within 68 yards since. What makes it more impressive? Timmy Smith was a no-name one hit wonder that would be out of the league completely a year later.
Many of us diehard football fans will also never forget about the Bears drubbing the Redskins 73-0 in the 1940 NFL Championship Game in arguably the most dominant performance in the pre Super Bowl era in the same category as the most throttling and lopsided game in NFL history!
As a Tar-Heels fan the Lawrence Taylor had a huge big time game vs Lions with 1 Sack a FF and a 97 yards INT for a Touchdown in a huge win Giants 13 Lions 3 6:48
Let’s all remember Nick Foles against the Raiders in 2013. 7 total touchdowns and he did it in two and a half quarters! Only 6 incompletions and 28 throws, which means one out of four throws was a score. That is the absolute most dominate performance you are going to see hands down.
Walter Payton the day after he rushed for 275 yards against Minnesota then went to some random barbershop in Chicago to get his haircut. The barber there Eddie got the picture to prove it!
So Brady makes the list with one game with 380 yards and 6 TDs yet Ben Roethlisberger doesn't make the List when he threw 522 yards, 6TDs, 0 INTs vs the Colts in 2014, than the NEXT WEEK throws 340 yards, 6 TDs, and 0 INTs against the Ravens? Only QB to throw 12TDs in a 2 week period. Ben has to be on this list.
Bro brady had plenty of jaw dropping performances like that this isn’t the only one you just upset ben didn’t make the list this is your third time commenting this lol we get it he didn’t make the list
I'm glad the OGs get some love... I was raised in the 80s and I am still fascinated by some of the legends of football that sometimes even the modern day players can't touch! Because the game has changed so much, it's easy to break certain records now...
Another honorable mention at worst should be Joe Montana's 1989 game against the Eagles. On the road against a great defense, hideous pass protection on that nasty Astroturf, and Joe is able to overcome the odds leading the 49ers on a magic comeback. Despite eating 8 sacks, Joe had 428 yards on 34 attempts, 5 TDS, and 4 in the 4th quarter alone.
Absolutely criminal that Corey Dillon's 278 rushing yards in 2000 against the Broncos didn't even make honorable mentions considering that was the single game rushing record for a while.
It only stood for 2 more seasons. Jamal Lewis ran for 295 against the Browns in 2003. Then AP broke that with 296 in 2007. So the fact that I happened 3x in 7 years means its not nearly as rare as you think.
I saw 5 of those moments happening and never really thought about how they would affect the history of the NFL years later at the time; I even saw some of the honorable mentions, and it was strange not seeing Barry Sanders on either list
with multiple guys throwing 4500-5000+ almost every single season these days, it's absolutely wild that a passing record set in an era where 2000 passing yards was a big deal is still standing today
I'm so glad Harrison DESTROYING the Baltimore Ratbirds is on here. Never seen such a dominant performance. Also, Ben Roethlisberger's perfect QB rating, 522 yard and 6TD game vs the Colts should be on the list.
But why would the Van Brocklin game just be an Honourable Mention? He threw for 554 yards and 6 touchdowns in 1951 and that isn't one of the top 10 most dominant performances in NFL history?!?!?!
Willie Anderson had 15 catches for 336 yards. Norm Van Brocklin threw the ball for 554 yards in a single game, which the record still stands today. Walter Payton ran the ball for 275 yards against the Vikings in a single game, so the record has since been broken. Adrian Peterson ran the ball for 296 yards against the Chargers, so he has broken the record since.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
Brady's 5 TDs in just 2nd quarter really stuck in my head for a longgggg time. Then Patriots even basically slowed the offense in the second half. Total domination.
As an Eagles fan I really wanted to see Cunningham and Moss win it all that year with Vikings. That connection was beautiful. 15-1 then lost in Championship by missed FG 🤦🏻♂️ Vikings are cursed
Robert Griffith miss a couple of ints for the Vikings as well as tackles.. yes Andersen missed the kick but Griffith making plays could've won them the game. Go watch the 2nd half and you'll see
24/35 331 yards 3 TDs 5 rushes 59 yards ans 1 TD. To win a superbowl and superbowl MVP. Against one of the best offensives of all time. How does 1984 Joe Montana not make this list?
I was living in South Louisiana and a huge Saints fan when Flipper Anderson set the record for most receiving yards in a game. That you think that was an honorable mention is ridiculous. I hated watching it, but it was spectacular, and deserved more than an honorable mention.
I think the most impressive on this list is Tarkenton’s 554 yards in an era when they just didn’t throw the ball like that. That record survived the 80’s, the 90’s, the 00’s and beyond. Montana, Marino, Young, Favre, Peyton Manning, Roethlisberger, Stafford, Rodgers, Brady, Maholmes and others in the era of just throw the damned thing have yet to better that record.

Here’s how good of a GM ole Jerry is. Pass on Moss. Drafted Gavin Escobar in the second round and pumped his fist on TV. Proof that Jimmy was the architect not Jerry.
And Brett's performance against Oakland should be on the list, not an honorable mention. Brett had over 300 yds and 4 TDs in the 1st Half. The night after his dad died ... Unreal
As a lifelong Seahawks fan, I watched the Thomas record KC game live. Despite that individual effort, Krieg got out of the 8th sack to throw a game-winning last second TD.

Tom Brady had many iconic moments and for him to be an honorable mention is crazy
The Buffalo Bill's perfect game. Wild card weekend against the patriots, seven drive seven touchdowns no punts, no turnovers, no field goals, yeah
Many of us diehard football fans will also never forget about the Bears drubbing the Redskins 73-0 in the 1940 NFL Championship Game in arguably the most dominant performance in the pre Super Bowl era in the same category as the most throttling and lopsided game in NFL history!
You would have to be 84 years old to remember lol
@@marcosbenavides8394 Over 84, actually, but that is a concept that exists. I've been hanging out with a 91 year old who feasts on all of it today.
Your TH-cam Channel Is My Number #1 Favorite NFL Throwback
R.I.P to Gale Sayers in his Prime 1965 Rookie Season 6TDS vs 49ers in a muddy game
Sorry, but the back to back 6 pack games from Roethlisberger should be somewhere on here. Only guy to ever do it deserves a spot on this list
As a Tar-Heels fan the Lawrence Taylor had a huge big time game vs Lions with 1 Sack a FF and a 97 yards INT for a Touchdown in a huge win Giants 13 Lions 3 6:48
Jamaal Charles 5 touchdown game vs the Raiders! That's easily one of the most dominant one man shows ever in NFL history
Legend I was just watching that movie 🍿🤣‼️
Walter Payton was unreal.
Prove it 😂
Man it's hard to call a Top 10 Cause there's a lot that got left out . Thanks for putting this together
Ben has to be on this list.
the nfl loves their brady circle jerk
Bro brady had plenty of jaw dropping performances like that this isn’t the only one you just upset ben didn’t make the list this is your third time commenting this lol we get it he didn’t make the list
@@kevonsidek9737😂
Brady had 5 TDs in 1 quarter lol. None of the others even compare to that performance against the Titans in the snow to top it off!
How about Matt Flynn demolishing the lions as Packers starter
17:42 how does the NFL have film on Slingin’ Sammy Baugh but the NBA has no footage yet of Wilt’s 100? 🤔🧐
I'm glad the OGs get some love... I was raised in the 80s and I am still fascinated by some of the legends of football that sometimes even the modern day players can't touch! Because the game has changed so much, it's easy to break certain records now...
Derrick Thomas was a damn good player. I just wish he was still alive to see how great KC is doing now
Another honorable mention at worst should be Joe Montana's 1989 game against the Eagles.
GOATED ! 🐐
Absolutely criminal that Corey Dillon's 278 rushing yards in 2000 against the Broncos didn't even make honorable mentions considering that was the single game rushing record for a while.
AP’s 296 his rookie year is miles ahead of that one lol
@@kevonsidek9737Right, but Corey Dillon's record was set in 2000. Adrian Peterson didn't come into the league until 2007.
I like how Brady's game against the Titans was the thumbnail but was only an honorable mention lmao
Ed Podolak's performance against the Dolphins in the 1971 playoffs also deserves a shoutout.
That 554 is going down. It’s just a matter of time and circumstance.
with multiple guys throwing 4500-5000+ almost every single season these days, it's absolutely wild that a passing record set in an era where 2000 passing yards was a big deal is still standing today
Fred Taylor dismantling the Dolphins in the Playoffs should be on here. Same with Jimmy Smith against the vaunted Ravens defense
I'm so glad Harrison DESTROYING the Baltimore Ratbirds is on here. Never seen such a dominant performance. Also, Ben Roethlisberger's perfect QB rating, 522 yard and 6TD game vs the Colts should be on the list.
brady's 6 td game against titans in the snow should be here.
Vick vs the packers in the playoffs.
Peyton manning vs the defending champion Buccaneers is the craziest game I’ve ever seen that wasn’t a playoff game
Kap should have made the list with that Green Bay game
Aaah, Madden & Summerall commentary, already makes this a fantastic video.
Favre’s performance after his father passed was legendary !
Sammy Baugh is #1, 4 td's and 4 int's in the same game.
The 3 honorable mentions were more impressive than a handful of actual selections
Lawrence Taylor play with one arm but still continued to make big plays when it matters he didn't disappoint at all vs New Orleans for real! 7:47
The GOAT of Running Backs, SWEETNESS!!!💯🏈😎
But why would the Van Brocklin game just be an Honourable Mention? He threw for 554 yards and 6 touchdowns in 1951 and that isn't one of the top 10 most dominant performances in NFL history?!?!?!
Josh Allen and Buffalo perfect game against the Patriots in 0 degree weather first round of playoffs. No brainer
Willie Anderson had 15 catches for 336 yards. Norm Van Brocklin threw the ball for 554 yards in a single game, which the record still stands today. Walter Payton ran the ball for 275 yards against the Vikings in a single game, so the record has since been broken. Adrian Peterson ran the ball for 296 yards against the Chargers, so he has broken the record since.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
Marino in 85 vs the arguably greatest defense ever, was more dominant than just about any qb performance. Dominating bad teams is fine, but
Corey Dillon 278 yard rushing performance got robbed. Single best day for a running back ever
Brady's 6 td game in the snow is an honorable mention?
I've been a Cowboys fan my whole life, but always loved Walter.. The way that man would handle the rock is insane..
I think there’s a lot of games you can argue for , I would put more weight on the ones with high pressure situations, or other circumstances
Brady should be higher because he did it in bad weather.
Brady's 5 TDs in just 2nd quarter really stuck in my head for a longgggg time. Then Patriots even basically slowed the offense in the second half. Total domination.
Eric Dickerson had a monumental performance that should be included
Im glad i got to grow up watching Randy Moss the greatest to ever do it
I was living in South Louisiana and a huge Saints fan when Flipper Anderson set the record for most receiving yards in a game.
This voice.14:40 As a kid I didn't care for football too much but I loved watching 'This Week in The NFL' because of the voice on this guy make it seem like the most important sport in the world.
Steve Young threw for 6TDS and 0INTS 1994 Super Bowl against the Chargers 15:50
The Vikings have been on both sides of so many of these 😂 moss, Peterson, sweetness, Alexander’s 5td day. Not to mention kamara’s 6td day
more on the losing side lol 😂 trust me
@@dariusewing6962 oh I know it’s hard being a Minnesota sports fan. Always on the other side when it matters most
Big Bens 6 TD, 522 yards, should have been at least a Honorable Mention. We need a part 2.
Great compilation... THANKS!
Here’s how good of a GM ole Jerry is. Pass on Moss. Drafted Gavin Escobar in the second round and pumped his fist on TV. Proof that Jimmy was the architect not Jerry.
Personally I think Brett Favres crazy run from 95-98 should be on here 😂. That was a crazy stretch. Modern day offensive numbers and 3 MVPs? Crazy!!!
Adrian Peterson 296 Rushing Yards against the then San Diego Chargers in his Rookie Season
no matter what Adrian Peterson did on a football field, nothing will ever top the performance he had on his 5 year old son... leaving a young child's groin bruised and bludgeoned after beating him with a stick for spilling milk on the carpet
father of the year stuff right there
