@Nigalas Cage So Yoel who has been in barn burner fights with the likes of Costa, Whittaker, Machida, Weidman, Rockhold is to blame for a boring fight against Izzy who oh wait has been in a plethora of Boring fights, Whittaker 2, Blachowicz, Vettori 2 and Cannonier. Seems like between Izzy and Yoel one of them has a habit of being in boring fights and I’m pretty sure it ain’t Yoel.

This is one of my favorite fights of all time. The first round was a perfect example of how both fighters look when they are at their best
I enjoyed the fight but I thought Yoel was far from his best. It’s an stupid strategy to play rope a dope with Costa and let him come forward with his round kicks and hooks. His defence was objectively worse than in previous and subsequent fights imo, he only slipped and stayed on the fence and didnt parry as in the rockhold or izzy fights. When he changed it up and went forward with a jab and short combinations he was quite capable of boxing Costa up, but he didn’t respect him and he paid for it in the first round and a half

It was his strength in the Romero fight and his weakness in the Israel fight. This mf took so much punishment for walking forward, a tank for sure.
I have to agree on that one. One of the few people that isn't afraid to pressure Romero. Only other fighter on the top of my head who ain't afraid was Robert Whittaker. Explains why the Yoel v Adesanya fight was boring... Adesanya was playing it smart and safe and didn't want to take the bait.

Say what you want about paulo “drunk” costa but this fight showed his true potential. Dude keeps the pressure on, has quick leg kicks, and devastating power. Yoel is such a freak athlete he was eating punches that would probably knock out 98% of ppl. I hope this costa comes back against luke rockhold.

costa looked really good against vettori, even though he lost. it was really unbelievable to me that costa went 5 rounds without really gassing out, guess that's what happens when they don't cut all that weight. i wonder if costa will even be able to make weight, it's been a while since he has.

I don't think anybody else in the division has the strength to reverse a Romero double leg attempt into a takedown. We all know Romero is a demon, but Costa has inhuman strength as well.
