An easy way to get trash items for Linus’ quest is to fish in the small pond below your house on some of the farm maps. You can only fish up trash and secret notes from it.
Better yet, fish in the fountain thingy outside the spa. You'll get trash in no time. Then, walk up a little and put it inside the bin. Everything done in one place!
I think you could have given more love to the mini shipping bin - Because it's an object we place from the inventory, it means we can place them literally anywhere, including inside the farm house, farm buildings, the island farm, or outside the farm - All of which are places we couldn't place/move regular shipping bins. I've left mine in my basement for wine, which I check at night before bed.
i have two! I put one of them right at my bed for when I don't have enough time to go to the shipping bin on skull cavern days and the other inside the greenhouse because of the fruit trees there
@@brandiganBTW I usually stick mine inside my coop and barn so that it’s just like some old Harvest Moon games. I believe it was Magical Melody that had it like that.
For the valley cleanup quest, I fished in my farm pond (i have the basic original layout). Mine fell during the night market so initially I was going to do it there, but discovered part of the update includes that the night market actually has viable fishing now instead of all trash. Got it done in one evening.
For "cave patrol" use Monster Musk spray, which attracts more enemies. So a lot of enemies will spawn and you'll be able to complete the quest in a day or two. Use same spray to collect bug meat from mine level 1-20 in a single day.
For Linus quest I found it best to fish in the farm ponds because you are guaranteed to get trash and not fish. This is useful if you don't have crab pots.
Also, as far as the ginger island fishing reward: I was disappointed in it because Willy was already selling them and I already had them accessible from my furniture catalogue. They weren't previously locked for me.

For the Linus's Community cleanup quest, if you are not on lvl 100 in mines yet (where you can get loads of trash if you're not high in fishing!), or don't want to go there, simply search for small ponds on your farm. The small pond on my beach farm worked for me like a charm, although I'm lvl 9 in fishing :). Collected all trash there in like two in-game hours.
I've been playing 1.5 since it came out, and still find this guide incredibly helpful. So happy I found your videos. I'm a bit of a bumbler with games, so it's nice to see an overview of what they all are and how to do them.

Tip for finding the prismatic slime: Zoom out the UI fully so you can see more of the level while you're searching for it, then take the elevator to level 5. If it's not there, go back to level 0, then back to level 5 and repeat the process till you find it. Otherwise it's stupidly rare and hard to find! This method took me 1 min. great tips! i'd also add that you can opt to screenshot the floor once you enter too so you don't have to navigate the floor every time but it can be a bit tedious

Hmm the mini shipping bin is nice but I don't really have an issue with inventory space or dumping things off in the main bin. At least not yet. The only thing I'm going to get is the mini-obelisk for now. Thank you for saving us the time figuring all of this out!
yeah i really like the obelisk and farm computer; although some other rewards may be more functional. having a mini shipping bin near your bed, in the cellar, or perhaps the greenhouse could be a nice added convenience

What made the mini bin speacial for me is that you can place it inside your house or cellar it works just fine if you have house expansion mods I have basement where i placed my mayo ,chesee and wool makers and put the ship there i collect and ship them without need to go out just before sleeping

This is very frustrating as it means my farm gets neglected during some of them.Linus quest is my favourite its easy and getting the fiber recipe is so helpful early game for making and selling tea plants, much needed funds!
this is an old video but like if ANYONE sees this: is anyone else having trouble getting prismatic slimes to actually spawn?? i didnt see a single one throughout the whole week of the quest (yes, it was active, i checked quite a few times thinking i was crazy). i went through low levels of the mine, mid levels, and bottom levels, as well as the quarry mines and skull caverns in case i was missing something. but i couldnt find a single prismatic slime and it seems like no one else is having this issue online?
did you happen to do this quest when 1.5 was first released? I know it wasn't until the 1.5.3 patch last month that the encounter chance was changed from a 1/125 chance to a 1/83 chance and also made Luck modify the chances of encountering it. If not, a 1 in 83 chance without a good luck day might take some time to find! if i come across any more info, i can let ya know

I am not sure if it is a glitch on my save because i have too many slimes in the town. but after the update and after i did the prismatic slime mission, i now see 2 and 3 color slimes all over the town, I even trapped a few of them that switch between multiple colors in a fence to make sure, left, reloged, started a new day, everything i could think of and the same ones still flashed different colors. I do not run any mods or anything to effect this, and i only have noticed this happen on the one save i started after 1.5 hit.
This is really interesting. My first thought is that several slimes are glitched together but the only way for that to make sense is if their pathing remains identical which I'm surprised about
I found it on level 99 on day 1. I was super excited because I have the Burglar ring and it dropped 2 jars. I put the spare on a display end table in my house but when I handed the other jar over to good old Razamatazz, it disappeared - I was broken-hearted!!!
Aside from the trash fishing tips a lot of people gave in the comments, I'll add that you can also complete Gus's quest by purchasing void eggs from Krobus, as well as any eggs you purchased from the travelling merchant. Not the most economically viable solution, but useful if you don't have a coop, or don't have many egg laying animals.
I know this video is old but as long as you don't have the farm where you get easy fish; fishing in the little tiny ponds in your farm give you trash as well you just gotta fish for it .
Quick Question: When do you unlock the Special Orders Board? I started a new save on 1.5 since I needed a new map and I unlocked mine on Fall 2 of Year 1. Granted, I didn't go to town on Fall 1, but I'm just wondering if it's a case of unlocking it on a certain preset time or after fulfilling a certain condition.
Any chance for a full play through, maby the same style as in the min/max videos, or if more convenient just a "normal" playthrough style, live commentary basically.
Im very confused about the Crop Order request. How much gold do you get? Wiki says "Gold equivalent to 50% of the base crop price"... but i dont understand what this means. E.g. what would happen if you ship 100 gold eggplants? How much Gold would that make?
yeah it's a bit confusing because the wiki doesn't specify. you'll get what they're worth from selling overnight (9,000 or 9,900 if you have the Tiller profession). you'll then get a journal reward for completing the quest equal to half of what 100 regular quality eggplants sell for (3,000 or 3,300)
Failed 3 times in a row to complete these while doing a bunch of other stuff in 1.5 special orders are ok but I'm not doing anymore, the rewards are not good enough to prioritise them until very late game when you have nothing to do but farm gold or acheivements again
this is a fair point that i probably could've covered better! some of the quests are reasonable when the board first becomes available but others are not easy until you've built things up a bit more. The file i used to showcase these has all content completed prior to 1.5 so it certainly makes things much easier to knock out
Can you do one for the mr qi quests. They are impossible. Also can you figure out a strategy for multi-player skull cavern. Its noticeably more difficult due to the fact you can't pause or anything you do ingame never stops time e.g. healing, eating, menus, changing map etc.
How long did it take you to find the prismatic jelly? i was in the mines every day and couldnt find it and when it came to the last day of the order i had to reset the day multiple time, and when i finally found it i took a million screenshots.
I have so many staircases so I ended up breezing through the levels (starting at 80 I believe) and found it pretty quickly. Manually clearing those floors would've made things go a lot slower though
Biome Balance doesn't work for me at all...I'm supposed to catch lake fish and I've been going to the Mountain Lake and catching all the fish there and the quest counter stays at 0 :(
I cant get a prismatic slime to show up! I have done the quest three times, spent all day every day of the time limit going to the mines and starting from lvl 5 down.... not a single prismatic slime!
no need to turn them in for this one; once you catch 20, the quest will be completed. you'll receive mail from Demetrius the next day with the farm computer
My prismatic jelly quest re appeared after I couldn’t complete it the first time I tried it, but now it gives me one day to finish it, the day you accept the mission, does any one has any idea of why this is happening to me?
it just means that they won't pop up on the board again once completed; some others like Gus' Famous Omelet or Biome Balance can be completed more than once

you can collect infinite trash from the little fountain thing in front of the spa if you chose to never get trash from crab pots at level 10 fishing

For the community cleanup i just fished in my farm’s pond which you know, has only trash in it, and it worked marvelously
For the Cleanup quest. Fish in in one of the water holes on the farm. Almost 100% garbage. Done in a few minutes, at home.

For Community Cleanup, fish at your farm, they most likely have trash (thats how i finished my quest)
If your on default farm and trying to clean water for Linus u can just clean your pond and let Linus swim in trash :) (the water closest to home)

Quick Question: When do you unlock the Special Orders Board? I started a new save on 1.5 since I needed a new map and I unlocked mine on Fall 2 of Year 1. Granted, I didn't go to town on Fall 1, but I'm just wondering if it's a case of unlocking it on a certain preset time or after fulfilling a certain condition.
yep Fall 2 is when it unlocks and there aren't any other requirements; although, I'm not sure if it would trigger on that day if it's raining

Im very confused about the Crop Order request.
How much gold do you get? Wiki says "Gold equivalent to 50% of the base crop price"... but i dont understand what this means.
E.g. what would happen if you ship 100 gold eggplants? How much Gold would that make?
yeah it's a bit confusing because the wiki doesn't specify. you'll get what they're worth from selling overnight (9,000 or 9,900 if you have the Tiller profession). you'll then get a journal reward for completing the quest equal to half of what 100 regular quality eggplants sell for (3,000 or 3,300)

Failed 3 times in a row to complete these while doing a bunch of other stuff in 1.5 special orders are ok but I'm not doing anymore, the rewards are not good enough to prioritise them until very late game when you have nothing to do but farm gold or acheivements again
this is a fair point that i probably could've covered better! some of the quests are reasonable when the board first becomes available but others are not easy until you've built things up a bit more. The file i used to showcase these has all content completed prior to 1.5 so it certainly makes things much easier to knock out
Can you do one for the mr qi quests. They are impossible.
Also can you figure out a strategy for multi-player skull cavern. Its noticeably more difficult due to the fact you can't pause or anything you do ingame never stops time e.g. healing, eating, menus, changing map etc.

How long did it take you to find the prismatic jelly? i was in the mines every day and couldnt find it and when it came to the last day of the order i had to reset the day multiple time, and when i finally found it i took a million screenshots.
I have so many staircases so I ended up breezing through the levels (starting at 80 I believe) and found it pretty quickly. Manually clearing those floors would've made things go a lot slower though
Biome Balance doesn't work for me at all...I'm supposed to catch lake fish and I've been going to the Mountain Lake and catching all the fish there and the quest counter stays at 0 :(
shoot, that sucks. have you tried fishing elsewhere (maybe forest) and checking to see if the counter goes up? could be a bug

I cant get a prismatic slime to show up! I have done the quest three times, spent all day every day of the time limit going to the mines and starting from lvl 5 down.... not a single prismatic slime!
Is the shipping only accounted for the next day? Bc I’m shipping and the “shipping bar” from the quest is still on zero taro roots shipped
yep, the shipping won't show completed until overnight for the bin quests!

no need to turn them in for this one; once you catch 20, the quest will be completed. you'll receive mail from Demetrius the next day with the farm computer

I'm pretty sure the trash collecting quest can be done by foraging through trashcans

My prismatic jelly quest re appeared after I couldn’t complete it the first time I tried it, but now it gives me one day to finish it, the day you accept the mission, does any one has any idea of why this is happening to me?
Yep, the quests become available every Monday and thats when the timer starts

is that mean you need to choose the one you want and abandoned the other quest?
it just means that they won't pop up on the board again once completed; some others like Gus' Famous Omelet or Biome Balance can be completed more than once

For trash, use the fishing boxes and pickup trash as it spawns … otherwise fish at your pond or level 100 mines
