I’m starting my lawn care business next spring, with only a push mower, an edger and a string trimmer. I have learned a lot from your videos. What to do when a customer has a pool hadn’t crossed my mind. I’m in the Midwest where we have 4 month winters, most people have above ground pools if they have pools at all here.

While it not my first year working as a independent contractor as I do other kinds of work too. It does encourage me to see that the lvl of work I provide is on par with what I do as well. That's funny when you mention trimming left to right. When I first started I wondered why people did that because the trimmer rotates the opposite direction on most tremors and it cuts better so after a few years I finally forced myself to learn how to go right to left and after I retrain myself I won't trim left to right very often any longer. It's just a matter of knowing how to hold it and keep it off the ground. But it definitely isn't someone a new guy can do right off. Like I stated in another video of yours I've noticed you have a lot of electric or battery power I mean and I've just been a little leery of them especially battery powered push mowers. I always thought Green works was a real cheap generic company but you mentioned it was a commercial style push which I did not know that they made. I'm just me myself and I I only mow around 33 yards I believe I have not counted them for a while but I had around 47 and I could not keep up so I downsized. I've been in business long enough that a lot of my equipment is wearing out and I've been thinking about battery powered trimmers and blowers and possibly to push mower but I'll definitely keep gas powered for the thicker stuff. I had a rotator cuff going out in my shoulder and pulling ropes just absolutely kills me. Does your equipment stay charged for the whole entire day? I have a lot of DeWalt batteries but they're only 20 volt and I was thinking of buying some DeWalt stuff since I had the batteries but I realize I'll probably need more power than that.

My Echo black diamond line does break especially with Johnson grass when this happens i switch to STIHL CF3 Pro i don't get much breakage from this line or if all else fails i get my Reaper blade out it's an MTD triarc edger blade that i sharpened into a brush blade this blade is nuts it chews up pretty much anything in its way it is called "The Reaper" because of its curved cutting edges resembles a Reaper's sythe and because it is an edger blade it's overall rounded shape allows me to use it near walls, patios, wooden fences, trees and telephone poles without snagging into them.

    Properties with pools
Consider putting a small pool skimmer net in your trailer, they're cheap. Carry it with you and if you happen to get any debris in the pool - most of it floats - you can skim it out in a minute or two. If there is a whole bunch use your blower to blow it to the opposite edge, then skim it out.

So there must be an other reasen for the stuff in the pool, but you didn't do it.I was upset and thought ; would he still work for the costumer when they accuse him for something he didn't do?But I see you are a proffesional and you take care as usual.

I know it might be a pain in the neck extra step sometimes. But in this type of business. if you can. take a short video ort pictures that have a date stamp on them on the property before each service or work. then take same footage afterwards This is to protect you and show the property before and after. When they try stuff like this, In this case your before footage would have show the dirty pool prior to your service/work.

Also where I'm from we do not deal with flower beds unless the customer wants to pay a hefty price and usually they do not. I have tried over the years to get people to stop mulching their flower beds because 99% of them do not take care of them and they get overgrown with weeds. I've got two so far that quit mulching and put White Rock in place of the mulch and they would put succulent plants in them that are still in the containers and had a weed barrier underneath and two years later not one weed. There is another lady I'm trying to talk into doing White Rock or river rock. Every spring she has the most beautiful landscaping and that only lasts about 2 weeks until the weed start growing. A lot of people don't realize that mulch turns to dirt and even if you have a barrier down you will still have weeds from little seedlings that's blowing through the air or birds or however they get in there and then they grow in the mulch. I stepped away from doing mulch years ago I will only do rock now. The properties look so nice with White Rock instead of mulch. A lot less headache. Anyway good job.

Sorry for all the comments but you asked for a comment on the line. I have had the same issue with the twist line from echo and the twist line from another company I cannot remember the name but it does not take long for trimmer string to get dry and brittle. That's why I do not buy trim restring that I know has been sitting in their place for a long time. I like to get the fresh batch just like my food. LOL
But you are right they do break I had the 0.95 I do believe and in my hex string I use 105 normally and I keep it out of the Sun because it will become fragile over time. But the twist line is a lot quieter if that matters to you and I'm not so sure on how it cuts or rips the grass. There is a TH-cam channel or a guy use a high-speed camera to show all the different styles of trimmer string. Some of the ones you thought would cut really nice actually do not. I cannot remember the name of the channel but if you type it in TH-cam it will pop up. The best trimmer string I have found is made by Stihl and it's the hex 95 or 105. Again sorry for all the comments. Have a good one.

Yea echo line isn't the best. We use it because my uncle gets it cheap but honestly I don't really like it. I do 80 percent of trimming on our crew and I don't mind that at all I actually love to trim because I'm good at it and I really do take pride In my work but I wish it was stronger. We use the .95 Personally I like that size the best. It's strong enough and doesn't bog down the engine too much. I use a Husqvarna gas trimmer. I love it. I used to like my old redmax from ten years ago but mine broke and the new one my uncle bought just isn't the same so I use the Husqvarna now and that trimmer is a beast. I love it I do miss the old redmax ones tho. The one I used had lasted me 8 years of consistent use. Thats impressive for a small engine

I cannot convince myself to use a tractor and mow in all directions, stripes in a different direction every week is the standard for me.

That was a less than good looking yard to begin with. They need to put down some turf so you have something worthwhile to cut. That pool had stuff in it when you got there. Great job as always!

I'm shocked a battery powered mower would bother with powered wheels. Push mowers really don't need powered wheels. Battery would last much longer.

ECHO line! I've heard that you can soak any trimmer line in water to bring back the original quality and avoid being disappointed by product that might have been on the shelf longer than it probably should've. Have you heard this also? And what is your currently preferred line to use?

It's simple: Lawncare guy coming over, or if you're not going to be using the pool, put a darn pool cover on! You can't make everyone else responsible for making your stuff dirty because you were too lazy to keep it covered. What, too expensive? You can buy a 10 foot by 25 foot sheet of plastic for $13.

Hey Johnny! I have a question, does Fin Prints make some of those shirts without the ‘Veteran Owned Business’ on it? I am not a veteran but I always will support those who served like you! I love the American flag prints and the Camo and I want some new shirts!
