      Actually true! It was common on pirate ships for the Quartermaster to have permission to override the orders of the Captain, except during battle. In this case specifically, though, the crew of the Ranger voted to make Rackham the new captain so he did have a majority of vote, being a legal "mandate".

      Actually, that's not true. The name "Jack" for Jack Sparrow came from when Hugh Jackman was being considered for the role. The whole flamboyant personality of Sparrow was a combination of "Keith Richards and Pepe Le Pew." Given the popularity of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and the character of Jack Sparrow, Ubisoft capitalized on having a pirate of the same first name and implemented attributes of Sparrow onto Rackham.

      Historically "Jack" was just a nickname for Rakham his real name was actually John. And for Black Beard his name was Edward and as for his last name, the media likes to use Teach but it's proven that Teach was not his surname. He most likely went by Thatch, pronounced with with a strong T not Th.

    Also, I just noticed that this game has a knack for making us mourn the deaths of people we never thought we’d feel bad for, Rackham was a surly coward, Thatch was a boundless madman, Vane was a paranoid scumbag, so on and so forth.

      Jack Sparrow is mostlly an heroic interpretation of Rackham. Real life Rackham was an unsuccsesfull pirate; he only was captain for a couple of months after marooning Vane; accepted the Pardon; lived as a honest man for some time until he got involved with Bonnie and took the black again. The only good catch he ever made was stolen from him later and ended up executed by the law and abandoned by his lover...
      ...YET; his Jolly Roger is the most famous in history; he is amongst the most legendary pirates (without having done anithing really to deserve it) and its well known centuries after his death.
      "You are without doubt the worst pirate I've ever heard of!"
      "But you have heard of me."
      Perfectlly resumes both characters XDD
      Sparrows history is similar even; in this case, he was voted captain but then he got marooned some time after; yet he was made famous. He had an extremelly unsuccesfull career (in most of the movies he looses the Pearl, gets no proffit of any adventure and he is betrayed by or betrays any romantic interest he may have... his only deed is talking his way out of the gallows; witch Racham also did whe he convinced Wood Rogers that all his evildoing where Vane's fault)
      For me too, Sparrow is treated as too mutch of a badass in the movies (after the first one. In the first one he is fine). Most of his actions work out of pure plot armour, really

      I do, although this one is more historically accurate if we are to believe the records. In Black Sails, he is way too intelligent and competent, although in AC4 he is there mostly for the comedic effect and they may have pushed it a bit too far with that he was known to be a drunkard and not the most competent captain.

    5:10 wasn’t that a common voice actor in Witcher three lol
    Speaking of that game, it pretty much ruined a lot of other medieval games (with or without fantasy) for me or pirate, games and such. It’s all I can think about whilst playing others. This is not as good as Witcher three dang the writing is not as good and the main character is so boring compared to Wtchr three and the acting. And the gameplay, etc.. all my mind can do is compare it to that golden standard

    Unlike Sparrow however, Rackham just comes across as creepy, degenerate and with no moral values or seamanship.

      The man is bisexual, in this adaptation anyway. He’s clearly attracted to Anne, and he also says something about finding a “bit of rough...” which meant a male sexual partner back then.

    • @luckycalico1363
      @luckycalico1363 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The real "Calico Jack" Rackham was actually a feminist and had two wives. However, it wasn't uncommon for male pirates to be sexually attractive to other men.
