M2k discovered this about a year ago and I have yet to see him use it in tournament. If he hasn't turned this tech into something game-breaking by now, I doubt anyone will...I'll admit it's pretty scary though.
BTW any comments about Brawl Vs. Melee or complaining about Brawl being a horrible game will be removed. Keep the comments about the actual video and what it means for the metagame, thanks :D
@ShonicTH Wobbling was not banned at either Apex or Pound which are the last two national melee tournaments that have happened in the US besides ROM3. I don't know what their rule was on it
@Tugnus for one this was not done ins training mode. 2. I already said in the video that if they DI away you can just roll to turn around d-tilt to catch up. 3. facts are not propaganda.
If your opponent DIs far enough away then this won't work because it takes 1 frame to turn around. Buffered roll->turn around->buffered d-tilt = 27 frames.
@GoldenHeartNeko actually it's not as simple as you're trying to make it seem. First of all, for a buffered roll to come out you must hit Forward and R on the exact same frame and then release them on the exact same frame. If you don't he will buffer shield. Secondly in order to buffer d-tilt you have to input down and then down on the c-stick. Buffering reverse d-tilt is even harder.
If only there was a way to change the position of your character during hitlag to get around this... some builtin mechanic that would allow you to shift your character's position by sliding the control stick or "smash"ing the c-stick in the desired direction of travel... oh wait
@GodismyRock89 except that's not hard, not to mention a silly comparison given that isn't actually infinite (can SDI out of it). I was also evaluating what you seemed to think was difficult were the parts like getting the buffer roll (hitting r and the stick and letting go in one frame) as well as the buffered dtilt, and regardless of whether I play the game or not I can determine how difficult that is pretty quicky. Which I did by popping in my brawl disc and successfully replicating this.
@BlankMauser Exactly what I was thinking. Probably the big white texts in the foreground with a blurred background to begin with. And then cue some techno dance song along with the video.
Even with smash DI, can't you just do it for the first 40% or so and get the opponent to the edge, let them wake up and charge your Fsmash. If this works, 50%+ and good stage positioning.
lol, old stuff is old o3o I saw DSF practicing this back in the first genesis. Hell, you dont even have to take them across the stage. You can just roll back and forth and just keep hitting them with D-tilts to keep them in one spot.
@Tugnus Propaganda is a form of communication aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. I never once said anything in the video that even hinted that this warrants a ban for metaknight. I am against the ban. So run and tell that
Pretty sure you can SDI out of range of the roll pretty easily. Won't work. And most people always airdodge or tech, regular Dtilt locks rarely ever happen. Not feelin it.
*Shakes his head sideways* Are there other characters that can do this? Judging by the frames of the other character's Front dodges, no. Zamus comes very close. To clarify, MK's front roll dodge has 24 frames(WTF Sakurai) and Zamus's has 28.
So we go from cementing Meta Knight as an SS tier to downright bolting him down, so even Meta Knight himself couldn't drop in tier placement, even if he sandbagged the shit out of his matches against a Ganondorf. Just so you know, this isn't surprising.
buffering a roll isn't hard >_> and you don't need to buffer a turnaround dtilt, just a dtilt. And SDI? apparently buffering f-roll then buffering dtilt will always be able to hit, right, GIMR? so a MK could just do that a billion times in place if he really wanted to. Plus, if he didn't want to, he has a whole 26 frames to hit you. I don't remember what frame the hitbox of dtilt comes out, but it ain't slow, so he has like 1/3 of a second to get at you... no lightning-fast reflexes required.
I like how people say you have to be frame perfect and fail to realize that you have 26 frames to do another dtilt, and F Roll + Dtilt is 26 frames, and Brawl has a 10 frame buffer window, meaning you can input all this as early as 1/6th of a second early and it will still happen loool Frame perfect my ass.
This isn't a 0-death. You can tech or SDI backwards out of jab locks. This combined with stale moves (Training mode multiplier is different than normal) makes doing this almost impossible against anyone competent. Metaknight propaganda FTL.
This is just what we needed, an infinite for the most unfair character in this game... BTW, GIMR is way good doing this stuff with top tier characters like Diddy, MK,... then, why he always use in MGW in tournaments??
So the meta game revolves around infinites, locks, spamming, and being overly defensive (as seen in the coming soon part of the vid with D3 spamming spot dodge). Wow, great meta game you guys.
@chred2akrisp I, mean, if Mew2king, one the most technical melee players in the world said this was hard to do. Then I think we can agree that it's hard to do. I really don't feel like arguing with you about this seeing as it really isn't that important
@chred2akrisp You don't play the game and you're pretending to understand how difficult this is. Mew2king himself said he thought doing this over and over again is more difficult then drill shining some one up against the wall with Fox in Melee
Lmao @ people complaining first of all. Tech the fuckin land. Nearly(if not all dont feel like going back) is techable and seeable so there is no reason u shouldnt be able to tech it. and what esam said u can sdi though considering the choices u have to succeed at this i dont think sdi matters. Also GL buffering that perfect for at least 100%. "But at high levels they can do that easy" Oh really? If you're playing at that high level and with people that high you should be able to tech it then
@GodismyRock89 You obviously don't know the definition of propaganda. You posted a video of a technique that is near impossible to use in competitive game play of MK trolling. Of course everyone who sees the video who doesn't have decent knowledge will start whining about MK bans. If you have videos of people pulling this off in actual matches, then I won't call it "propaganda." Also, since I know your assuming it, I main Marth not MK :P
Yes, yes, YES! I GOT MEW2KING IN AN INFINITE LOCK. Oh fuck I tripped.
M2k discovered this about a year ago and I have yet to see him use it in tournament. If he hasn't turned this tech into something game-breaking by now, I doubt anyone will...I'll admit it's pretty scary though.
Um....SDI?
why.. just why would you guys announce this? doesnt he have enough?
Yo
BTW any comments about Brawl Vs. Melee or complaining about Brawl being a horrible game will be removed. Keep the comments about the actual video and what it means for the metagame, thanks :D
@ShonicTH Wobbling was not banned at either Apex or Pound which are the last two national melee tournaments that have happened in the US besides ROM3. I don't know what their rule was on it
This was a long time ago
@Tugnus for one this was not done ins training mode. 2. I already said in the video that if they DI away you can just roll to turn around d-tilt to catch up. 3. facts are not propaganda.
@Doomolish nope no locks are banned in tournaments, unless it's a standing infinite.
If your opponent DIs far enough away then this won't work because it takes 1 frame to turn around. Buffered roll->turn around->buffered d-tilt = 27 frames.
SDI able
@Tugnus You can't tech after you've been locked. If you SDI backwards, he can just turn around and hit.
This seems like it is hard to really get off. Not sure if it'll actually become useable in competitive play.
@DemonicToonLink If you buffer a pivot into another move it cancels the pivot completely
@borjitaea If you're facing right, press Diagonal down back, let go of it, and then press down on the C-stick
The setup on snake looks so legit, it's crazy. And a little broken too.
@GoldenHeartNeko the inputs not be frame perfect but the frames must come out not one frame too late
this "meta knight" character seems underrated
Nah, top 3 at best
How I can do Dtilt reverse buffer?
Well, I guess it's a little refreshing to see a few combos being done in this game
@GodismyRock89 I mind I tryed it, but lol, it work as well. Thanks to you.
Btw, music?
If only there was a way to change the position of your character during hitlag to get around this... some builtin mechanic that would allow you to shift your character's position by sliding the control stick or "smash"ing the c-stick in the desired direction of travel... oh wait

@AmpedArchetype I just google translated it to something I understood. I don't know how a Japanese player would say 0 to death
@BlankMauser Exactly what I was thinking. Probably the big white texts in the foreground with a blurred background to begin with. And then cue some techno dance song along with the video.
@Doomolish nope, never has been since its too hard to set up
@Doomolish ummm....this was just recently discovered so..... no, its not banned
Even with smash DI, can't you just do it for the first 40% or so and get the opponent to the edge, let them wake up and charge your Fsmash. If this works, 50%+ and good stage positioning.
If I wasn't already scared of meta knight
@ShonicTH I don't need to. I just named two national tournament that approved of Wobbling. I think that's enough
Why does this remind me of Desk's mvc3 videos?
lol, old stuff is old o3o I saw DSF practicing this back in the first genesis. Hell, you dont even have to take them across the stage. You can just roll back and forth and just keep hitting them with D-tilts to keep them in one spot.
Anyone else notice MK d-tilting in beat to the music in the video?
Is there no tech in brawl wtf?
Lucas still has the most reliable jab/dtilt lock
@Tugnus Propaganda is a form of communication aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. I never once said anything in the video that even hinted that this warrants a ban for metaknight. I am against the ban. So run and tell that
if this becomes used i would love to hear their reasoning on not banning him
Yeah exactly. Showing it is one thing, doing it another.
These brawl combos is like America's got NO Talent.
Pretty sure you can SDI out of range of the roll pretty easily. Won't work. And most people always airdodge or tech, regular Dtilt locks rarely ever happen. Not feelin it.

So basically, Meta knight's Down Tilt can stab opponents in the balls with his sword....
How interesting
If it's going to be a Monday thing, call it, Metagame Minute Mondays :)
and you got my support
tap 2 to clearly see the bird is not the word
Oh Meta~
Is there anything you can't do...~
like MK wasn't broken enough...
:)
Tilt is down, press it while I'm rolling forward? Metaknight still da bes.
I like how people say you have to be frame perfect and fail to realize that you have 26 frames to do another dtilt, and F Roll + Dtilt is 26 frames, and Brawl has a 10 frame buffer window, meaning you can input all this as early as 1/6th of a second early and it will still happen loool
Frame perfect my ass.
just when you thought MK couldn't get anymore broken
IMO, non-tumble DI would've helped Brawl more than anything else......
Falco: "This is Horrible...."
@BlankMauser I modeled if after his vids, good catch
This is only if they miss a tech.
Ban Metaknight Yet?
This isn't a 0-death. You can tech or SDI backwards out of jab locks. This combined with stale moves (Training mode multiplier is different than normal) makes doing this almost impossible against anyone competent. Metaknight propaganda FTL.

@MeercatMonstro idk but meta is top tier and i herd he was band from most tournaments cuz he was so broken
This is SO SO SO brawl.
This should not be a negative comment for brawl players.
So the meta game revolves around infinites, locks, spamming, and being overly defensive (as seen in the coming soon part of the vid with D3 spamming spot dodge). Wow, great meta game you guys.
Doesn't just make Metaknight even shittier to play against?
@chred2akrisp I, mean, if Mew2king, one the most technical melee players in the world said this was hard to do. Then I think we can agree that it's hard to do. I really don't feel like arguing with you about this seeing as it really isn't that important
Community too lazy to integrate this as a strategy. Almost no footstool setups are used to this day.
yes, don't ban mk.
he isn't broken at all.
this was neat :3
loooooool, what a well made game!
Don't get locked.
gj Calvin, keep up the good work. :D
be sure to tech.....
This is awesome! Cept you can SDI it, believe me >_
@MeercatMonstro Are you serious? Lol You want more MKs like there have always been? I think its time for the lower tiers to get SOME kind of rep.
What this means is that we are closer to getting metaknight banned, keep up the good work :) lol
@dez135 LOLOLOL.... he was being sarcastic. And meta is (almost) never banned. He's unquestionably the best character in the game though...
@chred2akrisp You don't play the game and you're pretending to understand how difficult this is. Mew2king himself said he thought doing this over and over again is more difficult then drill shining some one up against the wall with Fox in Melee
This is already known with all the MK players that are GOOD. But I guess you can make it more known to the masses. =P
nobody wants to play with me if i am metaknight =C
@speedtime1298 MK doesn't care what he has to do to win a match.
@MrFoxSeckz were you born without a sense of irony?
@tennokumo i guess
@louman7777777 It appears everywhere. You can't hide from it.
Lmao @ people complaining first of all. Tech the fuckin land. @BlankMauser YES.
omg i laughed SOO hard at this
i don't want to say that brawl is a bad game, but easy infinites like this being the "metagame" is pathetic.
This isn metagame, just metaknight xD
not even rating this vid because its about a broken charecter...
@19524DNS Unless you can say they can be Mk too. Problem solved. Then stilt spam XD
goddamn it gimr lol
WHY IS METAKNIGHT NOT BANNED YET FUCK COMPETITIVE BRAWL
/caps and my opinion
Ahahahaa! Oh my...
Good stuff, but man are people gonna rage... Oh wait...
So... can we ban MK now?
Lol, this kind of MK crap is why I moved on to P:M.
More importantly, why haven't I heard about this before?
@GodismyRock89 You obviously don't know the definition of propaganda. You posted a video of a technique that is near impossible to use in competitive game play of MK trolling. @CrazYVolumE
this
@GodismyRock89 I'm going to pretend that was sarcasm, because if you think this is hard, brawl has gotten to your brain and it's too late.
I hate Meta Knight.
@MeercatMonstro This guy
LOL scrubs calling for this to be banned on GSB.
