This proves what my African Political Econ. & Development graduate studies professor said in lecture years ago is true. He remarked, "The Genie is already out of the bottle." I do not know too many who can forget where they come from, no matter how hard one may try. Still, the journey and the means to do so ought not define us. Especially when so many more are still waiting to share in the access to the basics of life that so few others are coming into. When all have that, then I think we will have cause to self-reward/ indulge because WE ALL will indeed have arrived.
Oh my Lord.. I think that I am in love with this beautiful young sistah... Namibia is poppin'.. I love learning about motherland cultures.. this was a great vlog..
Sad to say I don't really know my roots. My mother is Kwanyama, & she has gone back to Angola with my brother. So I really don't have anyone to ask about what most people take for granted. There is not a hole lot of Kwanyama here in California, I would dare to say I might be the only one. Thanks for posting, you video has made me reminisce of the last time I was in Africa back in 1998.
Kwanyama’s are actually Angolans. Our tribe is recognized among Angolan tribes and spoken languages. And the late Mandume Ndefayo loyal homestead is at iihole village in Angola. Try asking your mom on the phone while you can.
No place like home! So is your mother mixed or something, because you don't really look that much lighter than me, and my ancestry is Kwanyama & Himba. Either way, as long as you remember your/our traditions and language, you'll always know where you're from! :-)
As of my watching you're up to 6385 hits!! This was super awesome particularly for me (a foreigner moving to work this year in Namibia and wanting to learn as much about Namibian culture). Wish I can keep in touch. Greetings from Chicago, USA!
It makes sense that you have a lot of similarities with Angola. A lot of Africa's borders are not natural. Some tribes were partitioned right in the middle with one half going to one country and the other going to another.
There are about 400k Aawambo in Angola, if not more. A lot of Aawambo land is on the Angolan side of the border. For example, last years (I think) Miss Angola was Whitney Shikongo, Shikongo is an Oshiwambo name.
Lol but mbushe ... Thats not what i see when my granmother use bless my Uncles an cousins car.. Eetuwa ohadivavekwa adishe omakwanga...then tainingi 7 days inayikoshwa
just ashamed when she is talking to her granny and in english, eventhough it is a video that would be watched by millions , the way expressing herself to her granny, pronouncing of names is showing like a mbwiti....or she is?

Uukwanyama is actually split into two by the Angola-Namibian borders. So it's 50/50
