She is not strong at all. Its a facade she has constructed to protect her ego from rejection. She is deeply insecure and unhappy. Its actually not that hard to see.

Honestly, I found Aparna incredibly empowering. She’s difficult to take advantage of and won’t settle for less. Sad, that they portrayed her as a mean and rude person. I found her so warm and sweet :)

So true!! The show tried to make her seem selfish and rude, and they also tried to make her seem too demanding. Sima aunty was not the nicest to her. But there was this one guy (I can't remember his name, he was the jeweler) who wanted a woman who was fair, slim, tall, well educated, good looking, and upon all that have a good personality, and Sima aunty and everyone was like ok he has standards no problem.

@@thexxit To some extent you are correct. But... Its her response to rejection that is her issue and is what separates her from most people. She seems to not have the self awareness to say "I wonder if I am doing anything to cause this rejection" and then make adjustments accordingly. Instead, she responds with "Nothing wrong with me... people just cant handle a strong woman OBVIOUSLY." She want as far as to write a book about how strong opinionated women are just unlikable. She has a pathological need to convince herself that its the world that has the problem and that she is JUST FINE. But the world is not so stupid... we can identify a self absorbed, self loathing narcissist pretty easily.

A nacissist would actively pursue someone, gaslight them into believing they are crazy for not wanting to be with them, and are all around manipulative. I see none of that in Aparna. If someone doesn't like her, she cuts her losses and moves on. In fact, she's made some male friends out of this who just don't jive with her romantically. I get it, confident women are scary to some men who can't handle it, and that's fine. Women being able to ask for what they want is a relativley new thing to be honest. No one is telling you to go out with her if you can't handle it. So she doesn't want to compromise, that's fine. It's her perogative and I think it's fantastic. There are people out there who will want her as she is and she just hasn't found him yet - but there definitly are confident, secure men who will want what she offers, don't think there aren't.

Loved this interview. Aparna seems like a wonderful woman and I totally agree with her when she said they just wanted to create characters with minimal thought given to the feelings of the people who are playing these characters. Sad part is that many around the world would assume that this is how things are in India without realising it's just a show meant for entertainment at the end of the day.
As awful as the creators made her seem in the first episode, I actually developed mad respect for her by the end. She is so content with herself and knows exactly what she wants. Good for her! Also, shame on them for how they tried portray her as a person to fit their own narrative.

Thank you Sherry for doing this video. This was a totally different person (Aparna) whom we saw as compared to what Indian Matchmaking showed all of us. It is a big eye-opener for all of us to not believe everything that a reality show portrays and also to be a little more tolerant towards everyone. We should definitely try and know the story from all sides possible to form an impression about a person or a situation. A big shout out to you for leading us there! :D

Such a wonderful video Sherry!! After listening to Aparna here, it makes me sad that the show just made a real life scenario into a tiny Entertainment quotient. But what she said at the end - this show should hopefully take forward conversations long after as well. It is time to let go of stereotypes and colourism , and hopefully this is the start of that. Kudos to you and Aparna as well.
I think Aparna was sooo politically correct, totally rehearsed answers! She literally dodged all the controversial questions so smartly! And also so many things she said on the show just can’t be out of context! She just said them! Like I don’t want a guy with humour, or like why are you making a conversation with a server! What’s the out of context in this! I think she’s come across in this interview exactly the way she is on the show, except more smarter, shrewder with her lawyer like politically answers! Not complaining though, it’s always fun to watch her! P.s. - even her expressions and that smile through out the whole interview was soooo prim and proper!
