I am very proud of the Chinese people and their govt. They pulled themselves from the brink of disaster back in the mid 20th century and became what it is today. This was due to remarkable leadership and the will of its people. I wished I was born in that era and was part of the struggle.

China eradicated poverty in 2020, 10 years ahead of the target date suggested by the United Nations in 2016 for sustainable development. Meanwhile democracy icon USA has 39 million of its 331 million people living in poverty while world's largest democracy India has at least 260 million of its 1.3 billion people living in poverty. Even more impressive, China is on track to overtake USA to become the top economy in the world by 2028, five years ahead of its previous forecast, according to the reputable think tank, Centre for Economics and Business Research, in its recent annual report. This was followed by Nomura Holdings which gave an even earlier forecast of 2026 when China will become the world's top economy.

This video has a lot of connection with what India is going through right now. Xi Jinping's is a pragmatist, while Indians quiet idealistic. This video brought up several important points.
Indians have to stop the romanticisation of agriculture and look at it more practically from a utilitarian viewpoint: what is its importance to national economy and to what extent should we really focus in it.
Agriculture contributed to 18% of GDP but about 50% of the workforce depends on it (based on 2017-18 fiscal year). In other words agriculture's economic contribution towards Indias GDP is far less
Agricultural income in India is not taxed at all. Perversely, this has primarily benefited large farmers and has little to no influence on small to midsized farmlands. This is a large indirect subsidy from the rest of India to the farmers. Much of Indias untaxed income (black money) is routed through farming sector.
Over and above tax free income, farmers also get direct subsidy to buy fertilizers and crop insurance, as well as MSP, all of which cost 120,000 crores every year. Every country does this to support their farmers but Indian governments definitely overdo it.
Indian farm sector has always been plagued by a backward mentality: fragmentation of farmland (too small farming lots) to take advantage of economies of scale like other industries, over reliance on weather gods as opposed to improving irrigation techniques, a mindless opposition to scientific farming technology that could improve crop yields, and too many middlemen that siphon off revenue etc. Not a whole has changed in the last 50 years because of a romantic notion of the kishan toiling the field - as if Indias existence is contingent on it.
The reliance of half of Indias working population on farming as a means to generate income, what is clear is that despite decades of investment and national importance, farm sector has not kept pace with the rest of India and has definitely not produced outcomes on par with other investments. Yes, we haven't had large-scale famines in India in the past 50 years or so but thats hardly a measure to continue to treat farming as the "special child". But this will continue to be the case because a large chunk of legislators in the Parliament and across states have been farmers so they end up molly coddling the farmers by hijacking the national conversation and appropriating all the money.

This is nothing but bhakth propoganda against the farmers. They are seen today as the enemies of the state by thr ruling class. Even though most of the population depend on agriculture for their daily life Their daily life is in utter misery. Food crops and vegetables planted by the farmers sell on the market for high prices while they only recieves as little as possible. Tomato for a kilo the farmers receive 6 rupees while your corporate giants who sell them in their stores do this with more than 40 r.s. the goverment whom depend on them, the corporates for their victory in electrion are willing to do anything for their favour.
Agriculture is truly a burden that the people have to depend on loans and money lenders just to do their farming when at the time of harvest the prices are intentionally lowered . Unable to pay back their money these poor people commit suicide . Recently the rates are so high that the government stopped producing them . The most exploited , the most devastated sector in India is agriculture.
Xi jin ping is a communist Narendra modi is an uneducated Hindhu nationalist. When a country is ruled by a prime minister who say that the first plastic surgery was fixing the elephant head of Ganesh and a party which say that urin of a cow is medicin for korona nothing more is to be expected.

@@steephanroy8461 Firstly im not an Indian and probably shouldn't comment on things I don't have a solid understanding on. But do you not think its not better to aim to economic diversification. There is a large number of unemployment because everyone was becoming an engineer and there were no jobs left.
India has less jobs, roughly 60-70% of industries are small and medium industries, they hire no more than 200 employees. More large enterprises which hire more people. that's how it is in China. It's a deep web of redundant regulations , difficulty in starting a business, tough labor laws that has lead to unemployment.
Also India can't be China. China can't be China, economically. Automation is gonna kill Chinese jobs. What India needs to do is not get involved in large-scale manufacturing, but instead building industries which provide very specific and high quality items like Bharat Forge.
Companies in the chemicals sector, aircraft, car parts, steel manufacturing etc. And these are all high quality products which go into European and American cars and aircrafts. Since, these companies are quiet big, its better to let them grow further and expand into manufacturing their own electric cars and having their own aircraft companies. But we can't ignore the corruption and lack of infrastructure. Its a similar case to many African countries, where instead of politicians helping the nation, they pocket it. Also if roads, railways, bridges, tunnels, water supply, sewers, electrical grids, and telecommunications will attract a lot of FDIs.

    • @mosesdavid5536

Also I know what your critic of my arguments will be. Yes I understand, high skill jobs wouldn't employ as much people as farming does. But the end goal for me is to reduce the dependency of so many families on farming.

CCP philosophy emphasising the pursuit of profit as a good thing ? I guess it's kind of a socio-comu-capitalist system, steered by state leadership with a strict adherence to party policy ( Whatever it may be at that time ) enforced by internal security safeguards.
